[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery

At his pungent skunk's Willfully shirking his request, instead of blowing up on her like he would with Zorn the bristly blacksmith instead just shakes his head and *Sighs*.

"....Ya know Belladona, you're really not helping yourself by farting about like that at all, but whatever. Be unproductive as ya wish....."

He's sorta used to and resigned to that sort of behavior from her, if you couldn't tell. Anger, vitriol, and a stern talking to never really amounted to much when dealing with her at the worst of times, and even after gain her hard earned Loyalty she STILL rejected/shunned his commands half the time unless he seriously bribes her to do so anyway. What's the point of getting worked up over, if it wouldn't accomplished a damn thing?

If it wasn't for how useful and helpful Belladona was when she actually listened and contributed as he desired, he'd probably sold her off ages ago, the rarity and value of her species be bricked and shipped!

As for the stuck Mystery Item, after he struggles in vain to get it out himself (Image: Short man pulling at it, until he falls flat on his arse), he lets out a small swear before looking over to Belladona and pointing at it.

"Hey, think ya can help soften this rock up with your Acid Spray, specifically 'round here *Gestures to wear the Item is stuck in* ?"

Should she prove intractable to the request, he tries to motivate her further by offering one of his Dark Gems in exchange to appeal to her Boss and 'Must Have It ALL!' mentality. Besides, what girl doesn't love a little bling?

Presuming that the Rock is soften up, he'd then briefly recall Brigid and summon Diam in her place, and request that his wee imp use Restrained Flash Cannons to help break it down so that the Item can be retrieved easily from either the rubble or once the Rock itself was weak enough that it no longer had the cohesive force to strongly grip the Mystery Item.

If Belladona just doesn't want to plainly cooperate, though, she gets balled promptly for a brief 'Time Out' (With Ran muttering to himself, "If ya are going to be just plain unhelpful, you ain't helping yourself much that way either, Belladona...."), and Stymph gets called out to just bash the Rock with Steel Wings until it cracks wide open enough for Ran to get at the Mystery Item.

Either plan that is used, he's also keeping an eye out for danger, staying close to his partners and ready to holler at them to drop what they're doing to take care of would be pests/menaces. That should be it, for now!

He comes face to face with a group of 15 Unown when he reaches it!

They're currently remaining stuck to the wall, but all 15 of their eyes are staring at Kogeki.  Any Unown that are the same shape all blink at the exact same times and move completely in unison.  It's impossible to tell what any of them might be thinking, enigmatic as they are.

(There 3 of the Unow who is not appear here)

Kogeki was surprised in see such strange and rare group of Pokemon in such odd place. He was ready to fight, but those strange creatures didn't react in a negative way. "Is they need any help? I don't talk Unow unfortunately."

Is those Unow need help to get out of the wall or react with hostility toward Kogeki?

(Missing ones are O, L, and T, in that order)

The Unown continue to stare at Kogeki, not seeming to respond in any meaningful way.

It's definitely odd to see Unown here.  From what Kogeki knows thanks to working with Professof Rowan, the only place Unown typically appear at in Sinnoh is near Solaceon Town.

"Tch. Nothing but sand..." Karen picks up a rock, and throws it at the ice in slight boredom. She then collects the sand in a zippered sandwich bag before getting ready to head on.

Well, niiiiice, Kee only barelely managed to stop before running straight into the wall of this dead end and now just stares at it for a solid minute before facepalming facepalming epically, like this. "(-_- ); 'Kay. C'mon, Octavia, we'll just turn around and...." - Further he didn't came as within the very same moment, his dear faeeveelution was attacked by a poisonous bat from above, but any worry or startle was pointless as she just slapped their fangs away with a good smack of her tail. Hah, try again to mess with her, toxic Pokemon!!

That earned her a fond stroke from Kee before he developed a smile that didn't mean ANYTHING good, the sort of smile that'd send chills down the spines of the weak and easily-manipulated. "Well, you've got a decent timing there, Golbat, or maybe not if seeing things from your point of view: 'Cause YOU will be the first one I'll test that snowy turtle of mine to see how capable she is~~" In a flash of light said Grotle is summoned, and Kee's crossing his arms in a comfortable manner. "Found the first test object - or victim, depends how ya seein' it - for you, Juhani, so let's  get going."

Can I Poke with one of the Unow and see how they gonna react? Not in a aggressive way, just poking one of the eyes and see if they react. Not the most insightful guy to these puzzles.

Belladonna rolls her eyes, but she walks over, points her tail at the rocks, and hoses them down with acidic, noxious smelling liquid to soften them up.

Acid Spray
(6)(3)(2)(1)(1)(6)(4)(2)(2)(5)(1)(6)
3 + 2 + STAB - 3 - NVE = 3 D6 - 1
(5)(3)(5) The rocks take 1 damage.  The item isn't damaged despite Belladonna's lack of care for what she hits.
-2 Sp. Defense for the rocks.

Diam then proceeds to use a held back Flash Cannon to loosen the rubble a little more, ideally without damaging the item.

Held Back Flash Cannon
(1)(4)(6)(2)(1)(6)(3)(5)(1)(1)
2 + 3 - 1* + SE = 4 D6 + 1
(4)(3)(3)(1) The rocks take another 1 damage.  The item remains undamaged.
(-)

Randolph attempts to pull the item free now that it's been weakened a little.

Strength: 3
Resist: 3 base - 1 weakened = 2

(4)(4)(5)
(6)(5)

...and the item comes loose with a little effort, and without damaging it all that badly to boot!  Excellent!

Now that Randolph is holding it, he can see that the item itself is covered in all sorts of mud and grime.  In spots where it isn't as thick, though, as well as wherever Randolph cleans it off, he sees the gleam of something amber colored.

Juhani looks up at the Golbat cautiously.  This isn't her first time dealing with the species.

Initiatives
Golbat: (4) + 7 = 11
Juhani: (3) + 7 = 10

Unsurprisingly, the turtle is slower than the bat.

Are you sure you want to poke an Unown's eye? And if so, which one are you going to try to poke?

(So the Item is still partially encased in some rock/mineral, or something? Because that's the impression I'm being given here.)

Given Ran's other primary field of expertise and his associations with Bryon and Roark, could he perhaps determine if the Item he's excavated with his Pokemon's help some form of mineral/Stone/crystal of sorts? If not that, could he determine what sort of rock the Temple is made of and the one the Item was previously trapped in?

With regards to cleaning off the Item....well, beyond getting a rag out to whip away as much of the mud/grime the best he could, their's not much he can do himself without risking damaging what he mined. Getting Belladona to acid wash it clean was a risk in multiple different ways (if she didn't just outright refuse to do the job or take the Item out of a sense of entitlement to it, 'cause she's Da Boss), and trying to use his own tools in the field to clear away the gunk could end up destroying or severely damaging it.

For now, he just dries off the Mystery Item and stores it away, and goes over to give Da Boss a well deserved pat on the head and a mild grin.

"Good work, Belladonna. Keep it up, and I'll make sure you'll be eating like a king tonight, and treated as such too."

If anything can appeal to her better nature and cooperate, its promises of food and loot! Hopefully that'll put her into a better mood!

The dwarven craftsman then turns to Diam, and gestures to the now de-iced surrounding + the rocks in it.

"Any of hidden gems or treasure buried 'round here, Diam? Or something strange or 'supernatural' you can pick up with your Ghost senses?"

Nah, it's just muddy and wet from being defrosted.

When Randolph cleans it off properly, he's unmistakably holding a beautiful, almost pristine piece of amber, something which would have been a rare find back in the days of Randolph's prior occupation, and it's definitely something that he'd recognize.

What appears to be a small insect of some kind can also be seen in the gemstone.

As for the rocks in the surroundings, now that Randolph looks at it more carefully...there's a LOT of different kinds of rocks on this floor.  Way too many types for it to be a natural occurrence of any kind.  The Snowpoint Temple itself (walls, ceiling, pillars, and all), conversely, is made of the same grey stone all throughout.

Diam is definitely eyeing up that piece of amber when Randolph asks her about whether there's any treasure around, not looking for any other sources of wealth/sustenance. As for whether she senses anything 'supernatural'...she shrugs. She's not entirely sure...
