"Gosh, I can only imagine! : 0 Have a slice of angelfood cake before you go? They're serving it in the makeshift cafeteria right now."
"What's your next move?"
"Ah. Yeah, that'd explain that. No cell reception in the Ruins."
"I'll make sure to grab some before I go. After spending so long in the Ruins with Cosh, I think I can spare a few minutes to relax a little. I might grab some for my dad, too...it'll probably taste a whole lot better than those mushrooms did...it's a long story. I'll tell you later."
"Prepare for Deoxys however we can. Get there quickly. Take it down. Teleporting directly to where it is is probably out of the question. That's clearly unsafe, and the territory's probably unfamiliar enough now that it just wouldn't work anyways. What's the situation near the Safari Zone like? The closer we can get to it before we have to start walking, the better. Hopefully Hayes can get Latias's assistance before we get to Deoxys Prime...we are pretty bushed from exploring the Ruins, though...it's been a long exploration, as well as a long day...the sooner we leave, the better, but we probably need to get some rest, too..."
"...oh yeah, speaking of Legendaries...what about the one Bo's friends with? Has he not asked for their help? I mean, I know he doesn't ever ask them to battle, but if the whole Region is at stake..."
"...and...one more thing, if you don't mind me asking...how hard was Trillium hit? I probably need to try and call my mom and check on her..."

"The Safari Zone is a perfect target for your Teleport, if Elanor Pokemon Center won't work. All reports say Deoxys has deprioritized that location for some reason. There IS a Nurse Joy who volunteered to stay behind in Elanor, and a Shieldmaiden named Brazen is with her. She has one of Dagny's Metagross, one of the mortal Pokemon most capable of withstanding Deoxys."
"Bo didn't answer us about his legendary friend. I don't think it's the kind of relationship where he can ask it for help. He did say Deoxys is not a good matchup for his friend. Bo is a lot like me in many respects - he uses underwhelming Pokemon to overwhelming effect ★_★"
"Trillium hasn't even reported a clone yet. Folks from Forb City are attending to it."

"I could Teleport to Elanor pretty easily with Gallade, actually. He's been practicing Teleporting into dangerous situations, and it paid off big time recently. But he can still only take one person at a time, and...well, I honestly would rather not Teleport into the heart of enemy territory unless we're confident that we aren't going to run smack dab into a wall or something and Deoxys Prime isn't going to be able to summon reinforcements quickly to respond to the sudden threat. Which, given the hive mind aspect of its clones, is probably something that would happen rather quickly if we didn't take care of most of the clones beforehand...plus, Hayes still needs a little time to contact Latias, right? Can't get their help if we rush off to the impact site immediately."
"I'm not surprised the Safari Zone isn't a priority target for Deoxys. If I remember correctly, that's around where it landed a few thousand years ago. If it's avoiding the old craters for some reason, then that would be a perfect explanation for that particular 'why', wouldn't you say?"
Nathan can't help but chuckle at Tanuki's comment about Bo. "Who would have expected a country guy to become champ, right? He's definitely someone to look up to in a lot of ways. That's not something I'd considered about his relationship with his Legendary friend, though...hmmm...definitely some food for thought...not good against a Psychic type, though...I wonder..."
"...so Trillium's safe for now...phew...I'll still have to check in, but good news is always good. Thanks again, Tanuki."
Alright, that just about wraps up the business with Tanuki, I think. I'll get to what Nathan does afterwards in my next post.

Marco: "You know, there is something else we could do in the meantime.... I know where the Hidden Machine for FLY is, well, hidden."
Marco also theorizes that Deoxys avoids the Safari Zone because, in some ways, his experiments there are still going from thousands of years ago.

"Yeah, I know. Found what you'd written of that book you never finished. Hehe. It's a, uh...long story. Like they all are, I guess...just one question, though. How do you propose we get to the Nature Preserve from here? I know a shortcut, but it's in Elanor, where Deoxys is. And Arrowroot Village isn't exactly an easy place to Teleport to, either. Having FLY would be SUPER helpful, but how long do you think it would it take us to retrieve it and come back? Or...is it not there any more? The record was incomplete, after all... anyways, 'where' and 'how long' are the questions that need to be answered."
Good point on Deoxys's experiments. That'd probably also explain the large variety of strange pokemon in the Safari Zone to some degree, in fact...

"...but is it safe to retrieve it alone? I know you're skilled and all, dad, and it's probably not in as dangerous a location as the Kadabra Chambers, but...you never know what you'll run into, particularly in times like these...and if we lost you again, I...I don't know what mom and Uncle Oscar would do..."
...and Nathan's not sure what he would do either...

"Pfft, I'll be fine. I could just meet up with wherever you're going to teleport to. Could even scout ahead. You haven't seen nothing, buddy, til you've seen how fast a Skarmory using FLY is."

That's not very encouraging...
"...that's probably what you thought before heading into the Kadabra Chambers without any backup besides your own pokemon, isn't it...? Not that the Scimitars intended to give you much choice in the matter...*sigh*...mom never was able to win an argument with you over these topics...well, let's talk it over with everyone else. If you're going to do this, we need to solidify our plan."
Well, everyone?
-------------------------------------------------
Regarding other topics, I'll just keep it brief and say that Nathan gives the group a quick summary of his conversation with Tanuki (minus the decidedly private topics concerning the Mega Pinsir incident and the Scimitars' involvement and what to do about it).
"...so, yeah, the situation doesn't look to good in the immediate area around Deoxys. Teleporting in has numerous risks if it's even possible in the first place, and we'd likely be foregoing any other kind of support from anyone else the League might be calling on since they aren't fully ready to stage an attack of their own yet. The Elite Four are gathering, Latias might be getting involved, the Champion's already out in the field, fighting off clone after clone to buy some time... we need to act fast, but I don't think we should rush in recklessly."
"As far as prep goes, there are two main things besides purchasing supplies to consider. One: there's a bug specialist in town who might be able to help us teach some Bug moves to our pokemon in exchange for some cash. His name's Jerry Sensen, and he's got a Heracross. I'm planning to go talk to him about possibly helping teach Princess how to use her Orders properly, or at least getting her some stronger Bug moves to use. I'm afraid all that work learning how to rule hasn't really prepared her properly for the battlefield much...anyways, Jerry Sensen should be at the Cathedral, according to Tanuki, so I'm going to go talk with him about maybe teaching some Bug moves."
"Two: my dad knows where the HM for FLY is. He can go retrieve it, but...well, it could be risky. I'm not so sure about it myself, but...my dad's insisting. If he's going to go fetch it, we need to figure out where he's going to meet us, which means figuring out what our plan is for this attack. We just spent all day in the Skull Ruins, and we're going to need some rest at some point. Deoxys has been seemingly avoiding the Safari Zone, so it could be a good place to rest up and prepare for the final attack. It might allow Hayes enough time to call Latias as well."
--------------------------------------------------------
At some other point, Nathan will also attempt to call his mom to check on her. It's about time for some good news!
If the cell reception is a little spotty, maybe Dedenne can try boosting the pokedex's signal! Not sure if that would improve it, but I think it could be worth a shot.

Cosh is getting sick of hanging around Marco, and vice versa.
"That communicator I gave Terra can contact me. Dagny's already got a trace on me so who cares. I say send Marco to get the HM. We could all use it. FLY is almost as fast as Speed Forme Deoxys. Either way, I have prep I can be doing in the Almanac HQ. Let me know your meeting locale. Peace."
Away go all the Scimitars.
Kelda takes an extra second teleporting out of there.
Marco: "If you all who rescued me from my three year imprisonment decide you need me elsewhere for the next hour, I suppose I'll abide by the decision not to get FLY. But either way I'm taking a well-deserved detour, and soon."
Dedenne's boost works perfectly.
Mom: "Nathan! Oh my god! Been trying to get hold of you... so much has happened... I'm so glad you're alright, honey. The League is practically swarming over this place... I'm quartering three trainers. Are you on your way home?"
