[Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows
K, since we're waiting for my/Kee's input on what to do in the current situation: I'll likely respond sometime tomorrow, at the lastest Friday if I don't make it tomorrow. I want to do now as I kinda know what I wish to do, but am a bit short on time now due to having to *ugh* leave the house for work soon.

Oh God...I didn't know. I was just making fun with the three Ks of the group, but if I knew sooner that was a group with such acronym...God. I really sorry. It wasn't my intention in summon the name of such evil group who do racism! I really really sorry!

It's fine, Spirit.  It wasn't your intention.  Just wanted to drop some trivia and make sure we're all on the same page with this.  And it *is* a little funny that so many players in MCM picked names that start with K.

Uhh Dragonstrike? Dont want to be rude, but I think you need to update a few things in the currently Main Menu of the Primal Shadows. There a few outdate information (In currently Leader is saying Kogeki instead of Kee) and a few icons and images also disapear in the front.

I'll take a look at it soon.  Thanks for the heads up on the images.

Time to roll initiative!  Been looking forward to Hoopa's first battle alongside the party.

Edit: The Main Menu should also be up to date now, and the images that were broken due to url changes are now fixed.

Well, can't say I happy in see another Pokemon from Gen 8 (worse generation in my opinion for many reasons). Even more with such lazy design too. "Ah look at me, I a charcoal Pokemon! Who evolves in a big car with more charcoal. And then a even bigger one!"

...Seriously, I know Pokemon never was famous by great design (I have my own critics in Gen 1), but Gen 8 is extremely overwhelmed in be awful in desigh choices. Duraludon and Eiscube is so far the biggest targets for my hatred.

Side note: Good to know everything works out in images and all that buddy.

Ixnay on the Gen 8 hate, mate. We all have our opinions about the series current installment, but we shouldn't interject them into discussions (or our game sessions, rather) they don't belong in. Have patience with such content in the future, or at least take it a touch less personally, if I may kindly request of you my friend?

Still, bit surprised our first introduction to Gen 8 are these charcoal fellow, but then again considering the location the group is in it IS a rather apt one. Will have to do a bit of research on these fellows before I can make any battle strats and posts, so stayed tuned for them guys!

Alrighty, I got me some sleep and poured over the wiki pages for the living lumps of coal, so let me give my thoughts on them, then suggest a basic plan of action.

- The Rolycolys and Carkol share the Steam Engine as one of their potential Abilities, but the Rs can have Heatproof instead while Carkoal can have Flame Body (3D6 To Burn you if you Contact hit them, so watch out!). Steam Engine will give what I think is a + 3 DEX boost to them if hit with either a Fire OR Water Move, so going after Weakness in the case of Dax might not be a great idea off the bat until all the lumps are sufficiently bruised.
- Carkol is Fire/Rock, while the Rolies are Mono Rock. Additionally, Carkol is likely to know Flame Charge regardless of Level or Challenge, as that's a Evo Move for it, so anticipate it using it to jump up the Initiative and rampage with Multiple Actions, ESPECIALLY if it gets amped up by Steam Engine (Ability Mods and Move Mods stack, so they'll be enjoying +3 or +4 in DEX!!)
- Movewise, I think we only have to worry about Ancient Power/Smack Down from the Rolies, while Carkol might have Incinerate to destroy our plant Items. If Dragonstrike want to go hardball on us, though, get ready for Heat Crash or Burn Up from Carkol, both of which will HURT like nothing else!

* In terms of Initiative, only Kogeki and Hoopa have first pick on what they wish to target, and the later is a NPC that is STRONGLY whimsical, so we can only really follow up on the ninja if we want to dogpile a specific enemy into the bedrock. Pyra and Karen can bully and potentially KO Rolys CD, while Marcus and Dax only get the chance of wombo combing Carkol IF one of the prior Rolys are KOed or otherwise shoved to the side to get at them. Kee is simply SOL when it comes to proactive play, so he's relagated to following up and picking off any weak coal lumps, if he himself isn't focused down first.
* Speaking only for my chara, Pyra is severely limited in this Encounter, as she's down to 1/2 her STABs due to both Resistance, fear of proccing Steam Engine (OOC), and getting wammied by Rock STABs, so the most she can do effective support she can do is Intimidate and Single Action Bites. Man, she REALLY needs to get some coverage in the future when I/the group can afford it...
* Kee is somewhat gimped as well, but at least his Tackle won't trigger a potential SE and he ain't getting chucked for S.E. Damage, and just has more Moves to work with in general.
* Karen is mostly unaffected by this Encounter if she ignores Carkol or only uses Confusion as her offensive option, though her frailty might see her out of the fight if the mob isn't paired down ASAP.
* Dax is in NPC mode for now, so we have to worry about them Water Gunning a non-weakened mob and jacking up their DEX. HOWEVER, if they are asked to only follow up on Weakened Targets that risk is minimized, albeit if he's in the mind to actually listen.

With all that said, here's a basic plan I got hammered out, subject to change based on additional ideas or counter plans:

1. Kogek, Pyra, and Karen focus on trying to KOing Rolycoly C or D ASAP, with Karen preferably using her Spread Move to get at them both.
2. Marcus and Dax use their SE STABs on Carkol (Since Dragonstrike stated only ONE of the Rolys have to be KOed or otherwise shunted aside to get at them), which if both hit are all but GAURANTEED to OHKO it due to the combined 4 SE Damage and the 1 pip of chip Damage from Kee's Gravelyrock + any support from Hoopa. If one Roly is still not unFainted, Dax finishes them off while Marcus goes in for the Faint with Bone Club.
3. Kee either finishes off Carkol if they are somehow still unFainted (or they got a cheeky KO on Marcus/Dax and/or Marcus beef their STABs), or starts on weakening one or more of the Rolys with Bite/Snarl.

This plan is inherently unreliable due to requiring NPCs to do specific things, but hopefully either Kee or Pyra shouting out the strat will get them to follow through with it. That, and Hoopa could do shenanigans that upend everything and/or render my plans moot, so take that under advisement as you make your Orders (Conditional and not). Thoughts, everyone?

Sounds decent and solid my dear, good thinking - except for the fact that I already wanted to have Kee clash an SE attack targeted at any of us (mostly at Pyra) or a Flame Charge from Carkoal to prevent them from getting +1 Dext, with conditional orders of Kee snarling at them all shall they be at 1 or 2HP when it's his turn and he hasn't clashed by then to go for a KO. Is that, uh, alright?
