[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
(04-17-2017, 10:51 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote: As soon as Nathan spots the Mankey, he hears a sharp sounding "BITE!" echoing around the area.  "What the...was that Vincent?  It sounded like it was coming from that direction...wait, but then that would mean...Ventus, we need to move, NOW!"  The appearance of the wild mankey and the resounding cry of Vincent's command have brought Nathan back to his senses.  He starts running in the direction of Vincent's voice and away from the mankey, but also tries to keep an eye on Ventus to make sure he follows.

Action: Run towards Vincent and away from Mankey.  If Ventus does not follow, stop and return next to him.

At this point, Ralts is unable to focus on anything but the negative emotions coming from the direction of Mt. Molten's base.  He fidgets, he stares at and out the window, he whimpers slightly...but what's a little Ralts going to do in this situation without his trainer to give him orders?

Watching as Nathan was getting more and more worried, Ventus was just about to stop and comfort him. 'Whatever is out their in the woods is driving him to paranoia, so the more quickly we get out of the woods, the better,' he thought, obviously very worried about the young trainer's mental state. Just as he was about to tell Nathan that he knew the way back (He memorized the trail they were taking, in case they got lost like right now), a ball of fur burst forth from the trees, revealing itself to be a Mankey. It appears that this was there unseen voyeur that was stalking them, and it looked like it wanted to get to know a little too personally now!

At the same time, he heard the distinct voice of Vince crying out 'BITE!' from far East of their current position. 'Lady Luck favors us today, for better and worse,' Ventus ruely thought, watching the Mankey carefully as he slowly backed away from it toward the direction of Vince's voice. When Nathan screamed at him to run and booked it himself in that direction, though, Ventus silently cursed to himself, and he began to sprint after Nathan, covering his rear from attack. Hoping to distract the irate Mankey, he throws the prism he was carrying in his hand just in front of it!
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

Unconscious Paras: Will 3 -5 Unconscious, just a luck dice
(3)

Pokeball
(6)(4)

Paras is caught!
It has Dry Skin, Poisonpowder, and Scratch. It has no Disobedience score, but of course it won't be happy or loyal.

Professor Mallorn sends 50$ for Pokedex data.

Larry's Insight: 4 dice
(3)(3)(5)(4) - 2 successes, so Larry does find you.

Mankey's speed: 2 Dex
(5)(2) One Success

Larry's speed: 2 Dex
(6)(5) Two success, Larry outspeeds Mankey this turn...but I'm not yet sure which direction he's running.

Ventus speed: 1 Dex
(4) Luckily a success, Ventus maintains his lead while running and throwing the prism.

Ventus insight check: 4
(3)(3)(4)(1) - 1 success
Mankey's: 2
(6)(2) - 1 success, tie

Mankey picks up the prism, adding it to his Sitrus berry and slowing his run just a bit.

Nathan's speed: 3
(3)(5)(1) - 1 success, Nathan also maintains his lead.

Your troop runs all the way to where you meet Vincent! Luckily he has just used a Potion on his Growlithe.

Vincent looks up to see an irate Mankey, with one big eye looking through a prism.

This is on the outskirts of town, where the wild interfaces with the urban. There are stumps and a sward of longish grass, as well as many boulders fallen from the Mount.

Mechanics:
Intimidate - Pokemon Ability: Turn 1

Combat Move:
Winston: Ember
Trainer: Interpose self between fleeing trainers and pursuing Mankey. If Mankey ignores Winston and continues pursuit, attempt to draw it's attention, and evade.

Initiative: D6+3
Dice + 3 Dex + 0 Survival
Order: Ember
Accuracy: Pool 6
3 Dex + 3 Fight + 0 Channel
Damage: Pool 5 - Special Def, Burn *1*
2 Special (Str) + 2 + STAB
Burn *1*

If I didn't level Ember in the previous fight, Bite wasn't going to be doing squat... Also, I'm fairly certain there's rules for post training exhaustion somewhere but I can't find them right now.

Also, Larry: In character, Vincent doesn't know you're there. If you want to get involved, feel free to do so.

"You have got to be kidding me." The sight of Ventus and Nathan running pell mell away from a crazy incensed Mankey would be enough to make one's jaw drop.

The sinking realization that the two had left their Pokemon and the center slams home. No other trainers around either.

"GET HELP. ANY HELP!" He shouts at the fleeing duo, a commanding tenor filling his voice. "DON'T KNOW HOW LONG WE'LL LAST BUT WE'LL COVER YOU BEST WE CAN!"

He feels the ache in his right leg as he breaks into a run, angling to interpose himself between the fleeing trainers and cut of pursuit. It's not a good feeling, but now isn't the time to to worry about pain. Arcaeus knows we're going to be in a world of it shortly anyway.

"Winston. Gonna ask a lot of you today. Serve and protect. He glances down at the Growlithe. "Let's get it's attention. LIGHT IT UP!

as Larry went though of some bushes, Larry sees Nathan and Vetus running the other way with a mad mankey chasing, them so Larry desided to destracted the mankey and started screaming at it the mankey hoping to get its attention and gets Ekans out saying "alright ekans lets see what you can do"

Action: will use poison sting if the mankey noticed him if not will keep running after them

Okay, Vincent, he expected.  Larry, not so much.  There was no time to worry about that right now though.  As he reaches Vincent, Nathan stops for a brief moment, looking quite winded.  "Get help?  I've got no problems with that at all right now!  Thanks for the shout and the backup, by the way."  Winded or not, Nathan then starts running again in the direction of Trillium.  Since Vincent said to get help, Nathan is going to try and find Corporal Wake.  If he doesn't immediately find him though, he's going to continue on to the Pokemon Center.

Action: Run towards Trillium and try to find Corporal Wake.  If he can't find him, continue towards the Pokemon Center.

Ralts had been staring out the window for quite some time now, and can now see the commotion that's kicking off by the forest's edge.  Able to finally get a definite sense that Nathan is there and that he's in trouble, Ralts is going to go over to Shiva and start tugging on her skirt to try and get her attention.  Without further orders though, that's about all Ralts can do.

Action: Attempt to get Shiva's attention.

Shiva looked up from a list of berries sorted by their natural harvesttime in her handbook just in time to see Ralts' poor condition intensify. My, my... either something is completely wrong, or it's just overreacting on being seperated from its beloved Master... Or both. Ralts are normally known for beign able to sense emotions of people and Pokemon it holds dear, but it's unlikely that it could to do so from a distance... unless they share a special bond or something? After all, it beign kept in a Premierball already got her thinking, as well as Nathan almost freaking out as it was close to fainting in last battle...

Well, damn; if it senses emotions, she has to keep on providing a soothing attitude towards it regardless of what may follow until its Original Trainer will return. She sighed imperceptible, before offering her free hand to it, in case it wishes to lean into her, and keeping a calm voice.  "Is it that bad...? Wait a moment... are they in some sort of danger?" - Fools... I thought they know that they should not move too far away without Pokemon on hand... -

A little winded from his sprint, he soon meet up with Vincent, seeing Nathan stopping briefly to say something before sprinting off. Most likely he's trying to get more people to sort out this hectic situation,' he thought, having heard clearly Vincent's order to request aid from town.  No doubt Nathan going to try and get Officer Wake, but he doubts the man will get here in time before something nasty happens.

Taking a breath a Vincent's side, he heard him (painfully) shout his order to Winston, and decided to chime in some advice. "I suggest that you try to burn that berry in the Mankey's paw, when you get the chance. I think its a Sitrus Berry when I got a glance at it, so it'll get a second wind if it consumes it. I very much doubt anyone here wants that!"  Ventus quickly said, getting ready to run again. Just before he dashed off, though, he turn around and spat out a request to Vince. "Whatever you do, finish this fight fast as possible! Mankey are extremely vicous creatures when they get angry, and nothing riles them up more than a Pokémon battle! Don't bother to catch it; just knock it out and get going!"

With that said, Ventus pushed off, running as fast as his legs can take him to the Center. He was heading to the Pokémon Center, hoping to get Shiva and their Pokémon for the harrowing encounter!

Haha I love this.

Insight check to find Wake: (4)(5) Ah, there he is! You shout to him and he starts running toward you, and so does his Growlithe. However, Vincent's battle will probably be over before Wake arrives. Maybe he'll be in time to save Ventus if Vincent falls.
Ventus continues toward the Pokemon Center. As round 3 begins, Ralts and Shiva will probably notice Nathan and Ventus running.
Togepi, Ralts, and Cottonee are all done resting, since they've been waiting for the other party members to arrive.
Remember, a round is only 6 seconds!!

Mankey Round 1
Growlithe Initiative d6+3 = 7
Mankey Initiative d6+2 = 7
Ekans Initiative d6+2 = 3

This is what I can find on Will points and exhaustion. Growlithe is fully healed but we'll put him at -1 pain - 3 battles in a row with only a little speck of rest? He's exhausted! But proud to serve.

Intimidate: Mankey has -1 to damage rolls
Ember:
(3)(1)(6)(2)(4) - hit
dmg: 5-1 = 4 dice
(2)(6)(1)(2) - Mankey takes 1 damage. 3HP remain.
Burn: (2) fail.

Growlithe uses his new move with gusto. As he's still new to using it in combat, he only clips the Mankey, singeing its fur. This makes it even angrier.

Mankey stops chasing Nathan/Ventus and begins tormenting Growlithe, trying to pull his fluffy tail and scratching at his fur. Though he hasn't yet satisfied his curiosity about Growlithe, he is getting angry enough that when he does attack, it will be devastating. He's moving faster, too, switching from pursuit mode to attack mode.

Focus Energy
Accuracy: 2str -2multimove +1 canalize = 1 dice
(5)
Mankey's moves now have High Critical

Ekans
Ekans looks at Larry, sizing him up. Yeah, I could probably eat that. Hm, or a Mankey. A little smaller, but slightly hairier.
Ekans flicks its tongue. Smells just a bit like bacon.
Mankey it is.

Poison sting
Accuracy = 2 Dexterity + 0 Fight + 0 Canalize
Damage = 1 Str +1 power +1 STAB = 3 dice. chance to poison 3.
(6)(3) - Hit!
(6)(2)(1) - Mankey takes 1 damage! 2 hp remain.
Poison chance: (2)(2)(5) - no poisoning.

Mankey 2nd action - conditional Covet if not holding anything or Low Kick
Mankey pulls the poison sting out of its body and glares at Ekans through the prism (held in its tail) as if to say "I'll deal with you later." Maintaining eye contact, he bites viciously into his berry, chews it, and spits the seeds on the ground. Mankey is fully healed now.
Then he pinches and prods and scratches Growlithe, trying to get Growlithe to give up his own berry.

Accuracy: 2 Dex + 2 Survival +1 Stealth = 5 Dice
(4)(6)(5)(1)(6) - 4 successes, that's a crit with Focus Energy.
Dmg: 2Str +2 power +2 crit = 6 dice!
(4)(5)(2)(2)(3)(3) - 2 successes, Winston takes 2 damage and loses his berry.

Summary:
Mankey took damage, but healed it back by consuming his sitrus berry.
Then he dealt 2 damage to Growlithe and stole Growlithe's oran berry.

Mankey Round 2 begins

Someone should draw Mankey as Vegeta with a scouter-prism.

Nathan runs over to the officer, exhausted from the recent events. "Corporal Wake!! *huff..huff* There's a...*huff*...wild mankey...at the forest's edge...Vincent...is going to need some help..." That's all he manages to say before having to sit down and catch his breath. Running and panicing were definitely NOT on his agenda today.

Ralts can sense Nathan's a lot closer now, and desperately wants to go to him.
Reply
I think Nathan is close enough that Ralts would be willing to leave the Pokemon Center and run on over to him just before Nathan is visible out the window (round 3).

Wake: "Did Mallorn stop giving that speech to new trainers about not leaving town without a Pokemon to protect them?" Then he sprints off.
