[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

...Is that actually an option? Ventus certainly can, but I feel that would both be a waste of an Overgrown Shellder, and potentially disturbing for the rest of the party. Shiva's cool with hunting Pokémon, but I'm not sure of anyone else's opinion in game.

She's 'accepting of the cruelty of nature' behind her sweet and graceful attitude.
Don't tell her that you've been flirting meanwhile, she might get nasty because she can. Don't piss off the last person of the party that stands by Ventus' side, and you better don't want to see her furious. C:

He did warn them that investigating them would only cause trouble, and look what happened coincindentally... (Of course it didn't happen that way, but he won't see the difference between Causation and Correlation in this instance ._. )

Since we're on this topic, Vincent never mentioned anything to Ventus.

You specifically said that you sent that text out to everyone in one of your posts. If you retcon that, Ventus is still going to do some investigating about the explosion and track down those flowers. He'll also try and find Vincent, since he was the at the blast epicenter, and wants to make absolutely sure he's ok.

Missed this post. Yeah. The blast is public knowledge.

Stumbling across a meteor crater and deyo flowers, not so much.

Out of character, Iron's been pointing to the connection between Deyo and stray 'Mons it with bright neon signs. I fully recognize that they've probably have major plot significance.

On the other hand, until we get a better chance to look the flowers over, there's still no in-character reason to suspect meteor craters have anything to do with wild 'Mon yet.
Ventus might have history with this particular plot line (from reading character posts, though how much of it is setting canonical is in question), but with only OOC information available, and the only in character knowledge provided by the GM so far being that Deyo is rare and valuable (from the Prof), capable of making medicine (from a survivalist) and generally induces freak-outs in Ventus, so far, Vincent is actually positively predisposed towards the plant. (Despite a sinking suspicion Pierre is a drug burn-out.)

Vincent is not taking any chances with it though and he does have plans to run it by a lab (hence sample collection), but until more information becomes available, I can't justify a major character reaction yet. Plus, he's put two and two together and knows Ventus has meltdowns over Deyo so he's drawing an entirely wrong conclusion on the matter as well (See above point on Pierre). Not that it really bothers him - what he thinks Ventus does behind doors with his life is his own responsibility and he's not going to police that.

Basically a live-and-let-live policy backfiring.

As far as Vincent knows, he's just dealing with the fallout of this fool of a juggler who decided to pick up a wild Voltorb.

Well, he's still going to ask a lot of question about what happened before, during, and after the Voltorb Explosion. You can leave out the deyo crater in your report (if you bother answering him, which would lead to the aformention ansty Ventus), but he an empath, he'll know your leaving out details in your explanation. He won't know what, exactly, but he can still infer based on what your keeping from him

Unless you are able to bluff even his empathy. In which case you deserve to get away with anything at that point, for fooling Ventus on that front is quite hard indeed!

I also understand that Iron made these flowers important for a reason, but its already establish that Ventus despises those flowers and anything like them (magical/fey things). It's going be very hard to get Ventus to do a 180 on his position for the deyos at this point.

You can be an empath? Why wasn't I told at character creation? Smile

Plus, see above post.

Well, he established Ventus's almost unnatural empathic abilities at the start, so...

Me, I took a more practical approach to it.  With a ridiculously strong bond to a 100% empath.  Yeah, that's kinda difficult to top without supernatural abilities or a pokemon of your own with that kind of ability.  Of course, it's still not perfect due to the nature of the method.

Since I have an Insight of 4, I practically can understand people's and Pokémon's emotional states, to the point of semi-understanding what a Pokémon is actually saying, and being able to sense people actual emotional responses to him/other in real time. At 5 insight, I probably will have the equivalent of pseudo telepathy and limited influence over a person emotions directly.

If you wanted to have special powers, you could have always asked Iron about it. I had to heavily speck my charater in order to become an empath, so while I'm good with Pokémon and people, I'm not to good at battles. I'm only starting to raise my Accuracy roll pool, and I haven't even touched STR or DEX yet.

Ah yes, right.  Those trait scales in the book.  I should probably look into those a little more.

That said, I do remember what Nathan's big one is: that Knowledge stat of 3 (could specialize in a field of study or something like that).  Hence why Nathan knows so much about the history of other regions and general pokemon training.  Still self taught though, so again, not perfect.

I personally quite enjoy this plot concerning these Deyo Flowers! But Shiva is developing a dislike against them for what they have caused. HOWEVER, she still finds them lovely and is somehow interested what's with them. She wouldn't enjoy returning to them to see by herself, absolutely not, but she's fine with the party members discussing them with her.

Ventus despises magical things, Shiva is quite fond of them. Still, they get along nicely. Let that sink in. I don't see this as a logical/characterwise error, but as smart role- and outplaying.
