[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Nathan walks into the gym, feeling confident. "Hello again, Zamboni. I think it's about time I cashed in my chances to battle you, no?
I've been looking forward to this, as have Ralts and Swiftfire." Everyone except Shiva was able to make it to see his first attempt to beat Zamboni, the majority of their business at the festival concluded already, though Valder seemed to only be there just because he could be. Shiva had apparently been too busy with her business at the Daycare. He presents the first CarnyCoin to Zamboni so the serial number can be registered as used. "Well, your battle, your terms. What're the rules?"

After everyone gave their schedules and input on Nathan's announcement, Ventus decided to turn into bed early. 'Today has been quite exciting, but that just wore me out more in the end! Time for so shut eye,' he thought, heading into his room for a good nights sleep. In the morning, after he completed his daily rituals (shower and dress), he retrived to Pokeballs from his person. A snap of his wrist, and Apsis appeared right in front of him. She raised her head towards him, looking sluggishly throughout the room. Judging from her sleepy stare, she still had not quite gotten used to his early morning routine.

Smiling apologetically, he thumbed the button of the other Pokeball he was holding, and out came the Magikarp he caught earlier in the festival. Upon contact with the ground, it began splashing weakly, unused to being on dry land. "Apsis, sorry to awaken you early again, but we have a big day ahead of us! Of course, we need to have plenty of energy for the upcoming events, so what better way to obtain it than by having a hearty breakfast? This Magikarp is here is for you; I hope you enjoy it!" Ventus said, looking down happily upon his Ekans. He did promise her a reward for all the hard work she had done up until now, so why not give her a delicious fish to eat?

(Insert Scene of Ekans devouring here, @Iron [if you wish])
*Note: This is all taking place within the privacy of his own room, with the door to it locked to prevent anyone from walking in on Apsis breakfast.
**Note 2: He recalls Apsis after she has eaten the Magikarp.

With Nathan at the Gym:

Seeing Nathan rush of to challenge the Gym Leader, Ventus followed at him at his own leasurely pace. 'Its not like I have a garitee shot at fighting Zamboni, so I might as well take my time and enjoy the festival,' he thought, loving all the sights, sounds, and positive emotions that surround him. He eventually enters the Gym, and notices the sudden drop in temperature. While he's not bother by it overly, he notes that Apsis and Michael will have a much harder time here than usual. 'My Apsis is a cold blooded animal, so the cool temperature might threaten to send her to dream land. Michael will just not like the cold period. This will be a tough gym for us...if we have a chance to challenge Zamboni,' he thought, making his way over to the side lines to cheer Nathan on. He summons all his Pokémon so that his whole family can support his effort!

Order: Cheer on Nathan in his first Gym Battle! If its possible, I'd like to turn the cheerleading into a training session for all my Pokémon! It may not look like it, but its definitely hard work!

(If this is indeed possible, then I'm leaving Plusle and Minun in Ventus' hands for time of the Gym battle. Since Shiva in person is too busy with the Daycare to watch the battle as she actually wished, at least her rodents might especially enjoy it. Both species are known to cheer or friends in exciting battles, after all!)

"Here's the rules! 3 Pokemon apiece; you can choose them as you see each of my Pokemon. I'll be starting with Delibird! Held items are fine. You can use one Potion during the battle if you have one, and I'll be doing the same if I feel it will keep my Pokemon safer or give me a chance. I'm not a fan of using them just to draw out a lost battle. You can switch Pokemon at any time as many times as you like. Any questions about that, or shall we begin?"

This all happens in a room with a huge skating rink. There are two or three boulders, one much higher than the others, with sandy spots surrounding them. The formal battlefield is drawn out on the ice; Pokemon are expected to try to stay within these lines for the safety of the assembled trainers.

There are stands for spectators, and Nurses nearby, and hot chocolate served with icy cool peppermint floating in it.

"I think I've got it.  Let's get started, then."  Nathan takes his place at one end of the arena, while Zamboni stands at the other.

'This ice might make it tricky for fast moving pokemon to zip around.  Gonna have to be careful about that...those sandy spots might just do the trick, though...'

"Alright, since you're starting with Delibird, I'll start with a pokemon you're familiar with already too.  Come on out, Swiftfire!"

As Swiftfire enters the arena, she slips a little.  She's not used to trying to walk on terrain as slippery as this, what with Trillium being at the base of an active Volcano.  "Try and stick to the sandy spots, Swiftfire!  It'll help!"  She makes her way over to one, almost falling once or twice.  'Hopefully she gets the hang of this quickly...'  Nathan looks over at Zamboni.  "Alright, ready when you are!"

"Alright, Swiftifre, start things off by hitting Delibird with a Flame Charge!  Do it carefully, though!"

Initiative: 1 D6 + 3 Dexterity + 1 Survival
Order: Flame Charge
Accuracy: 3 Dexterity + 2 Fight + 0 Brawl = 5 D6
Damage: 2 Power + 2 Strength + 1 SE = 4 D6 + 1 Damage
Effect: Raises Dexterity by 1

Valder, after having walked nowhere and everywhere, was ready to watch Nathan and the gym leader have a battle. Valder was expecting a good show, and he hoped his Pawniard was too.

Other than that, Valder would like to battle one of those alcolytes if possible... Pawniard is itching for some action.Though Valder is starting to itch as well...

Swiftfire: (1)+4 = 5 Swiftfire gets the upper hand, clattering over to the sand before Delibird reaches its roost in the tallest rock. This will serve her well.
Delibird: (2) + 3 Dex + 0 survival = 5

"Let's see what you got, Nathan!" He flips the CarnyCoin back to you. Zamboni takes a stance in the highest bleachers - for most of the battle, he is running up and down the stairs, or around the outside of the room, or getting right up close to the action to give commentary, advice, and orders.

Zamboni vs Nathan Round 1

"It's the first round, so the time to leave your roost is....NOW!"

As Ponyta's charge brings her in range of Delibird's attack, the bird pops out of a cranny in the tall rock. Surprise!

Fake Out
3 Dex + 3 Fight + 0 Brawl
(4)(1)(5)(6)(3)(2) Hit
3 Str + 2 power - 2 vit = 3 dice of damage
(3)(6)(5) Ponyta takes 2 damage and flinches.

"Ha! That's it for Round 1! Good luck, Nathan!"

Zamboni vs Nathan Round 2

Swiftfire melts a trail in the ice as she charges toward Delibird. She stops short, skidding quite a bit, and launches the flames into the air the remaining distance to Delibird's roost.

"Caw?" At the last minute, Delibird leaps away and takes to the air.

Flame Charge
Acc: Reduced by 1 from pain penalization
(5)(6)(4)(1) Three successes.

Evasion:
3 Dex + 3 Fight + 1 Evade - 2 multiple actions = 5 dice
(1)(6)(3)(2)(2)

The flames clip Delibird as it flies away. You can see it frowning in concentration as it soars through the fire.

Dmg: 5d6+1, - 3 vit (you forgot stab)
(6)(5) Delibird takes 3 damage. Four hp remain.
Ponyta's Dexterity goes up by 1.

On the other side, Delibird pauses in the air and raises its wings, opening its beak to let out a strange note of music. Power emanates from the bird and soaks into the icy field, especially where Swiftfire has melted it. Pointy Spikes begin rising out of the ground at random, and retreating to lurk unnoticed until the moment is right.

Spikes
3 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Canalize -3 action -1 pain = 4 dice
(4)(4)(1)(1) It's a close thing, but that's a success.

This actually happens after Nathan's battle, but let's roll it now.

You challenge a gym trainer who calls himself the River Rat. He sends out Dewgong. "It's a 1 v 1 battle! I'm rough and I'm tough and I'll make sure you get the workout, and the beating, you deserve!"

Initiatives:
River Rat (1) + 2 Dex + 3 Survival = 6
Valder (1) + 2 Dex +3 Survival = 6
I'm giving the tiebreaker to Dewgong. It's a bit faster.

Oh, one rule I forgot to mention, that would be obvious to trainers already from Creshire:

In Pokerole, you can learn any number of moves. You may only use 4 different moves in one League battle, though.

'River Rat... what a weird name'.

"Theo, give it that horrific Leer and overpower it with Feint Attacks. If you don't feel like using Metal Claw though..."

Order: Use Leer once before attacking with Feint attacks (or Metal Claws if you feel random)
Feint Attack and Metal Claw: power 2 + 3 + 0 + 1 (pwr + str + brawl + stab, right?) accuracy 2 + 1 + 0
