Nathan doesn't tolerate bullies.  If this trainer thinks he has an edge still just because he has a mega and a 'hostage,' Nathan's going to give this trainer what for.  Hopefully this trainer knows there's little point in continuing this spat.

This isn't an official league trainer battle, after all.  Nathan wouldn't hold anything back.

Finally have finish my trip, and getting ready to settle down for the night. Hope things didn't get to exciting! *Looks at the Game thread*

Neat! Didn't expect that outcome for some reason.

Why would you have not expected that outcome? It was clearly a losing battle for Nathan, and he has no respect for the guy at all now, even if he is a semi-decent trainer. Even though he could have filled the demand for honey immediately with just what he had on hand, he wasn't going to give in while he still had an out.

Plus, you've also stated that Teleport is a super useful move before, specifically when Shiva got Abra

Sometimes, running is the smartest choice.  Nathan was only pushing that hard in the battle because he knew he could get away with it  It will have repercussions later, true, but this trainer is going to regret not starting with the negotiations Nathan had offered under completely reasonable (and very, very open) terms.

Now, if Zippy's gust had KOed that Pinsir?  Whole different story.  Then Nathan would have stood a fair chance against him since he would have still had 5 healthy and strong pokemon. That gust missing with triple threes was a slap in the face, man :'(

Ventus would have used one of his Pokémon to distract the Mega Pinser (Most likely Scyther, which would probably relish the opportunity to tear is natural rival to pieces), then have another go straight at the man. Probably Apsis, who would have used glare on him to Paralyze the trainer, then Wrap on him so that he couldn't move at all. From then on, he could have pulled out his knife on the evil doer and have him call off Mega Pinser, or face a very definitive end...


Either that, or do something equally drastic. In life threatening battle, Ven does not discriminate with his targets. If he can end the fight by targeting the trainer, he will.

Sure, but that's Ventus.  This is Nathan we're talking about.  Everyone has some sort of value, no matter how despicable.  And sometimes the worst pain you can inflict on a person like that is denying them the very things they desire most.  Nathan didn't just oppose this trainer.

He threatened his current purpose for being a trainer in the first place.  To prove he's the strongest.  If he can't challenge gyms, he can't become Champion.  This trainer obviously wishes to exert his dominance over others based on the reactions he had in that battle.  It's about time someone taught him that there's those who are stronger than him, even if it's not the person he's currently facing.

So, Nathan's making all kinds of friends on this adventure, isn't he? There's the Scimitar from the swamp, his new friendly rival Miller, his antagonistic rival in that Mega-Pinsir Trainer...oh, and everyone in the party, of course.

I'd say that's pretty much nailing the part about agency and knowing when to fight. Bravo.
