Given Ventus...history with the species line, he's not going to react favorably seeing the beast lurking around the campsite. No, I mean about how things happened just before those encounters.  My assumption is that Nathan wanders off towards Rattata without telling anyone, including Ventus (and that Nathan also doesn't know it's a Rattata).  There's also the matter of what the trip to the camping site was like, but that's less of an issue (for now) as far as I can tell.

I'll just say that Ventus was too busy setting up the tent to notice that Nathan went off by himself, and that Stunky distracted him before he could realize that the boy was not around anymore. There, conflict solved (I'll have to edit my post a bit, but that's easy)!
If Ventus takes a long enough time in dealing with the feral beast, he might not even realize that Nathan left at all!

@Lord Windos, that conversation surely was interesting!~ Didn't thought it'd come to tevelations.
But Ven must be getting something wrong...because Shiva was not expressing any romantic feelings. It was her way to show him her honest thankfulness and appreciation of spending the day with her and keeping the Daycare-Mission between them. But it's only natural that he understood it the way he did.
