[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(07-09-2017, 10:17 AM)Dragonstrike Wrote: The thing with Mold Breaker is it only stops the abilities for the pokemon with Mold Breaker.  So, while Oblivicorn can hit Swifrfire with Flamethrower if it has Mold Breaker, it doesn't deactivate Flash Fire.  Just allows Oblivicorn to hit the Flash Fire user with fire moves and avoid activating the ability.

I know that. That's why I asked for a possibility to the unicorn to learn Flamethrower (or Fire Blast for increased damage, Tailwind from Whimsicott and a high Channel Stat help to counter the reduced Accuracy) in the same breath.

Well, as far as Fire Blast goes, Swftfire can learn it eventually without a TM, so there's that if we can't get a TM for it.  Kinda like with Thunder on Plusle and Minun when teaching it to Grid later.

Those are probably some especially difficult TMs to obtain because those moves are lethal as well as powerful :/

I'll re-nickname him ¥en, since that sounds...better than Mr. Money. I wonder, though, how Luciifer will react to seeing the team's latest addition. He does like gold things, and a Golden Pokémon...well, that will be an interesting reaction!

As for Lethal TMs, Ventus could possibly get some eventually, if he evolves Nincada for Shedninja and Ninjack. Two powerful, evolved shines would go for very high prices on the open market... Maybe be possible to get a HM for that kind of deal!

I highly doubt getting one of Creshire's HMs would even be THAT easy, to be honest...

Nah, I'd rather go for Flamethrower on the unicorn, not Fire Blast... It's more spamable, now to think about it.

Haha, smart call from the creators to remove the increased damage of the copied move for the sake of Priority. I think Me First could become a very interesting move in battle, especially later on bigger and more dangerous opponents. Just needs a little prediction since it only copies moves that deal damage.
EDIT: It also uses Perform-Stat, how handy for me!

Even if he offered both shinies at the same time? That's an awfully temping deal, you know!

We're talking about a Cut that can go through Steel (which is probably more lethal than a 'normal' cut).  A Strength that could maybe move mountains.  A Rock Smash which could maybe shatter most anything.  A surf that could swamp an area more heavily, even control the waves potentially.  The raw power of the original HMs is not something anyone would likely part with easily.

These HMs are very, very easily a plot device.  Iron isn't likely to give us them until if and when he sees fit to.

Even if, what HM would you want? Fly for Togekiss? Or Surf for Ariel...

Rock Climb, Strength, or Surf. Can already dive with Ariel, so have more mobility options would be nice! I would not go with Fly, as both Shiva and Nathan have Pokémon that can Teleport all over the region. I actually want to see what Strength is like on Breloom, ho estly, but it's highly unlikely to ever get an HM unless we get REALLY fortunate...

Teleport is powerful, but it's still very limited in how you can move around.  There's limitations on how far and where you can travel based on how powerful the pokemon is and which locations you've visited recently, since you need to arrive there via the help of psychic energy.

While Teleporting across the region is possible, let's keep in mind that Teleport will only take you back to the last Pokemon Center you used in the games, so doing that in-game means traveling across the entire region without using a Pokemon Center even once, and then Teleporting back.

Probably the most valuable HMs are still Surf and Fly since they massively increase your mobility options.  Rock Climb, Dive, Whirlpool, and Waterfall still have their niche transport values as well.  Cut, Strength, and Rock Smash are just means to remove obstacles.  Flash could be a TM or an HM, and is mostly just a convenience if you don't have a pokemon with Illuminate.

And then there's Defog.  Niche value outside battle, but hazard cleaning and screens removal in it.  Fun fun fun.

Just imagining how much stronger these moves could get with a buff or two makes me wonder how they could be applied if we were to obtain one...
