[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
In your defense, you did almost beat Nathan in that second battle.  It all came down to a few bad rolls at the very end, and Nathan wasn't hindered too badly either.

There's one other thing to keep in mind here: we're playing with a system where the pokemon all share the trainer's stats (and pain penalties don't affect your damage, either).  In base pokerole, they all have their own individual stats, and the strongest pokemon have some pretty large caps on their largest stats, but low caps on their weakest ones.  In the original system, the individuality of each pokemon would help a little bit with that issue.  But then it becomes harder to track all that information since each pokemon has its own character sheet.

When I eventually run my campaign, I do plan to use the original rule of each pokemon using their own stats rather than a trainer's, split Strength and Special again, maybe split Defense into physical and special, and see how that works.  And don't worry, it's not going to be hard on the players' number of taken notes with the way I'm planning to run things.  Should still be suitable for a play-by-post format.

That sounds like an interesting thing. But I likely won't participate nevertheless, because I have different plans than following a new PokeRole Game after Iron's been wrapped up. It's not carved in stone yet, but kinda likely. Sorry.

(...)

Still doesn't change the fact I don't want to fight Nathan ever again without stacking the deck in my favor and finding some method to completely undermine him. Burned one to many times to ever fight against them otherwise. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me thrice, same on both of us prepetiating the cycle!

Like the idea, but what would be the point of leveling up a Trainer's base Stats besides Vitality  (Since that added to HP regardless of rule setting), since you'd be using a Pokémon's own Stats/Skills/Specialties to do rolls?

Not sure if it'd entirely be something you'd be up for, tbh.  Except maybe the social aspect of it.  Setting is going to be rather unique compared to the current campaigns.

That's the trick, and the secret Wink .  You'll find out when I eventually get things rolling.  And the other change is I'll be readding the Contest specialties and skills, and using the original accuracy rolls instead of using Dex and Fight for almost everything.  A little more complex?  Yeah, but leveling the contest skills happens naturally as you level the normal skills, so it's not too hard to manage, thankfully.

And I'm fairly certain my campaign will interest you somewhat, Windos, based on some of our past conversations.

That's alright. I'm still dreaming of one day making Shiva's Coordinator-dreams come true. Or I'll just throw her in as Mentor in my own game.

Windos, hatch and wondertrade those Lunapups instead of talking here, please! :C

I'm not sure if I like the idea of reintroducing Contest, since that makes some moves unusuable unless you specifically up that Attribute/Specialty/Skill , which is counter productive to free form build making and/or limits what a Pokémon can do with their own Stats. Still, haven't yet seen what you are going to do with the system/game world, so I'm open to new things and inplementations (Or re-implementations, as is the case here).

I'll reserve all judgement and expectation until I'm a part of it, but I know it will be a killer one with how I've seen you write and organize things!

Orthros is far from the bigger guns.  He's actually the weakest pokemon in the current team lineup.  The BIG guns are Calam (Super Luck, Black Glasses boosted Night Slash, and the only way he's not going before all of Heart's pokemon is if he rolls a 1 on initiative and Heart rolls a 6, and that's still a tie at 10) and Swiftfire (Big ol' MEGAHORN!  WHAM!). And Masq, cuz Air Cutter combined with Rivalry.

And I do want to use Swiftfire so she gets a cut of the exp and learns Inferno after this battle.
