Shelter Charmeleon Round 1

Burn: (1)(3)(6) Apsis takes no damage from her burn.
Shed Skin: (5)(6)(2) In fact, she crawls right out of her skin, looking fresh!

(Since I'm a good heart person, I want to remind you that while in Battle the Necklace negates Apsis' Shed Skin, so she's still Burned until the match is over! Also, can Ventus start collecting snake skin to have Shiva make designer clothing out of them?)

Completely unruffled by Charmeleon filling the room with smoke and, Ventus calmly issued his next series of order while also commenting on the fire breathing lizard's performance. "My sister, please continue Biting Charmeleon, but I request again you don't Knock them out in your exerburance . Charmeleon, using Smoke Screen and Fire Fang to limit my Arbok's ability to effectively combat you is wonderful thinking, but if you might be better off using high damage moves or Dragon Rage to pierce through her tough hide, or against durable opponents in general. You can't win a fight if your attacks hardly phase your opponent, after all! Oh, and also remember to keep in mind that Water Sport is still in effect, robbing the power of your Fire Moves and rending them less than optimal!"

Order: Apsis will be using Bite 3 times per round, Holding back in damage on each hit until Charmeleon is at 1 HP, in which she'll halt in her assault and give him the chance to relent. If he decides to be a sore loser and still attack, though, Ventus will wade in and attempt to Grapple them and then 'politely' tell them to give it a rest, as with Acid Spray and the Pain they are in it should be able to do that. If they STILL decide to be rude, Ven will just shrug and have Apsis KO him with Strike. Hopefully it won't get to that point, but covering your bases and all, right?

Shelter Charmeleon Round 2

Charmeleon doesn't respond to this kind advice, but he does come scything in with claws in a direct attack. Like most Pokemon, he's not great at judging the impact of a move, but he does realize his power has been sapped by that acid. Just not what to do about it!

Slash 1
7 dice - 2 actions -2 pain = 3d6
(3)(5)(4)
2* Str +3 power -5 vit = 1d6
(4) Apsis takes 1 lethal dmg. She's now at -1 pain.

Bite 1
9 dice, -1 pain, -3 actions = 5d6
(5)(1)(1)(1)(2) Enraged, Charmeleon is thrusting his claws forward into Apsis' mouth. Incredibly, she bites down directly on those claws, sort of pinning her mouth open while Charmeleon readies his next attack.

Flexing, he unhinges her jaw with a soft "crack."
Dragon Rage 2
(4)
Apsis takes 2 dmg. She's taken four total.

Bite 2
(1)(6)(5)(4) Her jaws close anyway and her jaw pops back into its hinge - few Pokemon heal like an Arbok. The Necklace slows her healing a little, but she is still among the most resilient.
(6)(6) Charmeleon takes 2 dmg 1/7hp -3 pain.
Flinch: (3)(4)(6)(1)(2) Charmeleon falls to his knees. He grates his claws against the floor. With all his rage he barely laid a scratch on Apsis.

Insight + Empathy: (2)(1)(6)(4)(2)
Disobedience: (1)(2)(4)

Charmeleon's eyes, as he gazes up at Ventus standing fearlessly over him, contain a grudging respect. He can see the relation between Ventus and Apsis when it comes to toughness - his strength is hers and vice versa. He's never known that kind of brotherhood, so he doesn't understand WHY it happens, but he can definitely see what is going on here.

Charmeleon's disobedience reduced by 1.

Burn: (4)(2)(2) No damage.

Director North passes by and sees the signs of violence in the room. "Having a battle with Charmeleon, are you? Hm, looks like you have taught him some respect after all! If he evolves soon and is a less disobedient Charizard, he'll find a new owner in no time! Fantastic job, you two. Shiva, I'm reducing your fee for Gothitelle by the equivalent of a half day's work. Haven't heard a complaint out of you after all this hard work. And Ventus, your help is invaluable to us. I hope you return every now and then, as you've been doing. We keep a ledger of everyone's volunteer time, so just know that if you ever come back and you see a potential partner in one of our inmates, you can be confident we will consider your contribution."

Phew... After that, let's call it 'run-in' with disobediant and fierce Charmeleon - despite it's rather pleasant and it silently delights her like barely anything that she has made to reach him and teach him some respect, which she particularly was pretty insecure about to be honest - Shiva actually pretty appreciated spending a break up at the green roof alongside her precious Tropius. She does not really speak much, actually nothing apart from the greetings to her own Pokemon and opening up to Starmie and Forthright that they can enjoy some of the wanted free time in the rain for a little now; simply staying up here in silence with faint raindrops faling was everything. Tropius's leaflike wings shielded her from most of these, same like they did for Nightshade and Cottonee - the latter was visibly more uncomfortable over the raina nd moisture in the air, made her fluff all soaked and heavy, ugh... That didn't prevented her from playing a few rounds of Seek-and-Hide with the small cherrylike Pokemon. Once, she even won by pretending to be part of the fruit Tropius grows.

Marill however, was visibly delightful and curious not only by weather, but also about the view she and Master had from up here - if looking closely, Shiva thought that far away she could see part of the elusive Skull Ruins - but she didn't want to think about these for now and rather enjoyed observing her blue fae mouse testing the range of her Ice Beams. Seems like she has made this a game of how many puddles on the street she can freeze with a single beam.

-------------------------
Mechanics:
There we go, that's a Training Session for Cottonee, Nightshade, Marill. After Shelterwork, Tropius and Nightshade will be picked up, fruit will be handed to Lil' Freddy, Nanab Berry is kept and added to stock, Shiva will return to the GPC to conduct that call to Professor Mallorn (already done), Nathan will get Starmie and Castform back, the relatively early turning in for the night will be it where she will attempt to faintly cuddle up to Ven to find some sleep, if he allows that. Her mood...delighted, pretty exhausted, faintly proud.

(6)(3)(4)(4)(3)(5)

Ventus plays his Shamisen on a street corner. This doesn't go over very well in Stair City, where there are just sooo many people who are all busy in pursuit of some concrete goal. Nevertheless, he makes $40 in change, and gets to practice his skills a little. Seems like the best success comes from more familiar songs, here in Stair. His Arrowroot songs don't attract any positive attention at all.

Marill is doing great with Ice Beam already!

In trying to freeze large portions of water, she is practicing her Strength!

3 Str + 2 Survival +3 canalize
(6)(1)(6)(1)(6)(5)(2)(4) - I count 4 successes.

It is now Day 48.

The rain has ended, allowing the residents a nice, relaxing weekend in their city of steel! The dynamic changes a lot - becomes less serious, more playful. The parks are full of trainers or children. The Department Store is selling Frisbees and parasols and watermelons on sale (0$). The street vendors change their angles, trying to capture a more colorful weekend market scene.

(That...that means on Day49, I can visit Route 4 AND afterwards hold Gym Battle against Dagny, so that Shiva's ready to move on to Cress City right away at the next in-game Day? Hooray, thank you, I'm very very appreciating that!)

Eeeeeek! P-Praise from the Director personally has such a sweet taste that is almost too much for Shiva to take! Only 'almost', though, as she allowed herself to accept that praise and feel maybe, subtly, just a bit...proud. Huh, when was the last time she felt this? Must have been when her father was happy about her having evolved sweet Azurill... Hmmmm. These are good moments, moments that will become memory, memory that she'll later can look back upon or be reminded on when feeling bad or despressive issues arise, and Shiva felt somewhat thankful that this one time, Ventus let her initiate contact with that Charmeleon... Did he trusted in her enough to know she could do that?

"Ehm... well, eh, thanks, Director!" That was practically all she was capable to say among fighting that blush that inevitably tried to force its way out, but that delighted smile eventually reached the surface. "I'll...see if I can't continue sending my Tropius' fruit to this place after having fulfilled our agreement of work and obtained Gothitelle..."

(Sweet, Apsis stands victor once more! How much XP for this battle [2-3XP, maybe] , and you never got back to me on the collecting Snake Skin idea...)

When Charmeleon aims and lands that brutal looking Slash at his beloved sister, Ventus composure faltered briefly as he looked both highly concerned and slightly irritated.....before he let out a sigh as his expression evened out into neutrality. 'I did say that Lethality and Burns were condoned in our battle, so what he's done is......not an issue presently. Charmeleon's  a Disobedient Pokémon, and Apsis has an most likely will continue to be in no significant danger from his attacks, so I will not react negatively towards this......' he thought, before resuming watching the ongoing battle. Such was the nature of handling such viscous Pokémon: you are more likely than not to be harmed, and only experience and quick thinking on your part determines if its minor or severe.....

On the less dour side of things, it appeared that the fire breathing dragon to be was indeed listening to his advice when he starting using non-Fire moves against his regal snake, or at the very least was a quick understudy. Eventually, almost inevitably concluded in favor of Apsis, and as he went over to assess the extent of her injuries (Who was currently preening over its victory and the attention her master was lavishing her with), the empath decided to turn towards the Fiery Pokémon to see if they had truly learned anything from this battle........and found that they have. Ventus passively returned their stare for a moment....and then smiled at them and extend his hand forward in a gesture to help them up. Whether they do or not, that doesn't change what the researcher had to say to him after all was said and done.

"You did well, Charmeleon. Not many can inflict serious injury on my Arbok, nor adapt swiftly to an battle in which the odds were stacked against them, so know when I say you are well on your way to becoming an formentable Charizard that I mean it. I hope and pray that whomever will be your new Trainer in the future, they'll be able to appreciate those qualities and the draconic might you wield, and that they'll do their utmost to bring out your full potential. As you will do the same for them in due time, I hope! Now, how about we get your own injuries treated, shall we?"

After the fiery drake was taken care of and Director North voiced his praise and thanks for their hard work, Ventus gracefully accepted it with a smile and a bow of his head. "I'm just preforming in my capacity as a Pokémon Sociologist and what any good hearted person would do, so your thanks are not necessary sir. Appreciate them greatly none of the less, though! Hmm.....I would continue helping the Shelter regardless of compensation or not, but I thank you for considering my work so highly you that you would allow this Director. Now, I'll be coming back to the Shelter tomorrow, so if you have any tasks that would be best served by assigning them to me, then by all means hold them until I arrive! Have a great night!"

The researcher then left the Shelter by himself (After making sure Shiva would be ok by herself, of course), and going to a street corner to preform on his Shamisen with his dear child on a whim and some Poke. His music didn't receive a warm reception from the bustling crowds, but he did make some pocket change and managed to brighten the day of some with his songs, so he considers it a positive experience overall. One that he won't repeat in Stair given the lack of reception, but there is that at least! Afterwards, he headed back to his room in the Center - not before he found Nathan and handed him back his Pokemon, of course, and bringing back Haziel and his Black and Blue Egg into his party - and slumbered, letting Shiva cuddle him if that is what it took to comfort her. That, and he enjoys cuddling!......not that he would ever say that to her face, though!

Day 48 Start:

Ventus woke up at the crack of dawn with a bright smile on his face (As usual), and gently/carefully got out of bed without waking his fae friend. The sociologist noticed from looking out the window that the rain had finally abated, causing him to perk up a little morning at the though of foul weather no longer ruining the days of the myriad citizens in Stair, nor make anyone else ill! After this brief insight, he completed his morning rituals, getting got and headed downstairs to grab breakfast for the both of them, and headed back to their room, and then went over to shake Shiva awake.

"Dear....dear......its time to awaken. A new day dawns, and so to should you if you want to complete your work at the shelter in a timely manner! Breakfast is on the table, so let's dig in, shall we?"

Heart's Pokemon gain 1XP. None of them have any breakthroughs. As usual, it takes some chiding to get Nidorino to obey.
