[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
This caused Shiva's formerly faint smile to become a bit wider, these were great conditions. "P-perfect, thank you! No, Vaporeon has always listened to what I've told her, the only issues she'd cause could be some harmless ones when she gets over-curious about something. But you'll be a good girl and behave yourself, will you, Vaporeon?" *stroking over her head and headfins* "I'll leave you here at this place - no, silly you, of course not 'in this room', dear one, I mean at the pasture outside! - for a while, there is a pond, a lot of free time and an Eevee around that I'd be happy if you'd be nice towards. I'm leaving you this ball of yarn to play with too, okay? Please take good care of it. I'll pick you in a while, so fret not, and I think I'll be having a small suprise for you by the time I'll welcome you back."

Once Vaporeon has given her sentiments on this in one way or the other (how does she feel about it, Iron?), Shiva would give her a - temporarly last - fond cuddle and withdraw her into her Pokeball with the now held Destiny Knot, then handing it alongside 400$ to Golda. "Here, that's in advance for the first week. I'm counting on you two to treat my waterly Eeveelution well! Oh, and, well... I don't think I'll withdraw her during the time as I have so many other Pokemon that I'd like to train, and I don't want to harm any feelings she and Eevee may hopefully develop by seperating them unless it's really necessary." Though sometimes, distance from one another and missing each other may strengthen a forged bond, as she and Ven already showed once or twice.

"Do you allow me one more question? ...Thank you! So, ehm, what Ability does your Eevee actually have? Run Away, Adaptability or even elusive Anticipation? I'd rejoice most if my future Eevee would hatch with Adaptability as this feels the Ability suiting an Eevee's nature and unique traits best, but since I got my Vaporeon as a Vaporeon, means it has Water Absorb and I don't know what Ability it had as an Eevee, I'm not quite sure whether you are able to influence this, as the male partner's Ability does not play too much of a role in inheriting it to my knowledge." (Unless that's a little different in Chreshire, of course. Bulbapedia about inheriting Abilities)

"Oh, and how is Dr. Zachariah's Corsola doing, by the way? Behaving herself, doing well, anything I should and could tell him later this day?"

Pre-room

Nathan blinks a few times when Ventus makes his comments on the Swords of Justice.  Has he forgotten their full story?  Or was he not as familiar with it as the Tao Trio's?

"...Unovan lore implies we once lived completely separately, actually.  It's said the Swords of Justice only truly separated themselves from humanity though after a careless war between humans burned a pokemon inhabited forest to the ground.  Terrakion cleared the path, destroying boulders and even castles that stood in the way of the pokemon fleeing from the uncontrollable flames.  Virizion scouted ahead using its speed, directing the group away from the flames despite the risk the fire posed to itself.  And Cobalion led the way, its intimidating gaze and unwavering, iron will daring the humans who had caused the disaster to cross their path...that's also the day they were said to have found Keldeo, orphaned and with nowhere left to go now that its home had been destroyed...the Swords had no reason to even give humanity a chance anymore, seeing such careless cruelty, however unintentional it had been...and so they took in Keldeo themselves...and fled..."

"...the legends imply that location was where the Moor of Icirrus is today, and that the trio trained their new fourth member far, far away from it, likely deep in southern Unova since the moor is almost as far north as you can possibly get..."

"...that war was a folly that turned the Swords' legend into myth as they vanished from human sight until very recently.  I've read that Rosa was met by the trio during her journey to become Champion...if that's true...it's a good sign...it means they're beginning to trust humanity again, see that we are trying to work with pokemon instead of against them...no signs of Keldeo, though...I wonder what happened to it in the end..."

"...it's an old, dusty tale, but I can't help but think there's some truth to it...that they and other Legends are watching what we do, how we interact with those we share this world with...it's why Mesprit vanished here in Creshire as well..."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Room

Nathan turns down the incense.  "...I'm fine.  Just need to...stay focused..."

...

"...maybe Raphael being around wouldn't be such a bad idea, though..."

Kirlia subtly shakes his head at Ventus in such a way that Nathan doesn't notice.  No, that's not what he's trying to do.  If there's any 'interfering' to be done, it's solely so Nathan can handle what's coming...

Golda nods approvingly. Shiva knows her stuff - the best way to get Pokemon to breed is never to explicitly tell them to breed. Asking them to be nice is a perfect balance.

Golda releases Vaporeon out into the pasture again after scanning the Pokeball.

So Vaporeon trots off, not quite sure what adventure she's about to have.

"Our Eevee has Adaptability, letting him handle any situations that come up. It may influence your Eevee's ability, especially with that Destiny Knot. Pokemon can hear and learn a little bit inside their Eggs, so they learn from both their parents even if they usually prefer their mother as a role model."

"Corsola is doing great. You can play with her if you like. She has built herself a nest in the pond, full of seaweed or whatever you would call that - it's not the sea, so can it be seaweed? I don't know. Anyway, a bonded pair of Finneon have set up camp in Ariel's hair! They follow her everywhere."

"Stay and play as long as you like! But that is all we need from you until next week. Safe travels, wherever you go!"

"O-Oh, that sounds all rather splendid!~ I'll make sure to pay Ariel a visit right away." *one last sip of coffee, neatly emptying the cup in the process. When Shiva would leave, she'll politely place the cup in the kitchen sink on the way.* "I'll make sure to call next Monday then. Thanks again, for everything, and please let me know if anything concerning Vaporeon - as well as Infiltrator-Absol - does happen that I should be aware of. 'till we see one another again then, I guess." One delighted hug for talkactive Golda and a kind goodbye-wave for not so talkactive Wir later, Shiva would eventually step out into the backyard pasture again, immediately perking up into the still not too-brightly-shining  sunlight. She's still taking Vitamin D pills and St. John's Wort capsules every morning for the sake of precaution, as these are natural medicine she's not worried of accidently overdoing it or stressing her organism with unneeded medication.

Before she'd pick up Helios and Gothitelle though, she'd indeed pay Ariel a visit at the pond, not only because she feels like the sensation that a bonded pair of cute Finneon seem to have developed some sort of symbiosis with the vivid batch of coral is surely something that Ventus would be interested to hear given his occupation as a Pokemon Sociologist. Wthether Ariel does know Shiva or not doesn't matter too much, as for most of the time after having greeted her with an offered hand full of dried berries to much on she'd quietly sit there at the pond, observe the scene while making some notes on the Corsola's and Finneon's behaviour to hand them later to Ven (he has teached her doing so), take one or two photos with cell to go with the improvised report as well as for her own enjoyment, and have Marill play a little in the pond as well. All of this takes around an hour, and eventually, after stretching herself a little, she would get up again, pick up her two Psychic Types (Though not 'withdrawing them' - they can gladly stay outside of their Pokeballs for a little longer to tag along with Shiva - and make a stroll to Ginger Town's downtown and the Festival Ground, all while humming the melody of the rain falling somewherelse to herself and keeping Helios and Lilith beside her on the walk. She'll certainly miss her dear Vaporeon, but the joy of having her back with an Egg was a tad bit stronger than the desire to have her with her again. It's been so long since she has been in Ginger Town - a small place in comparison to Stair City, but there was something about this town that Shiva has grown to love for its own sake - maybe it were all these memories she's connecting with this place.

It definitely were.

-------------------
Mechanics:
Endresult of enjoyable scene, Vaporeon staying at Ginger Town's Daycare until there's an Egg to receive!~ I've noted the conditions about this agreement. For the next Encounter Slot, there'll be a friendly battle in Ginger Town before she'll eventually teleport back to Stair City around the same time Ventus would have finished his business/volunteer work at the Shelter, so that she can meet up with him to share some news/get updated on the arranged soon-departure from Stair City unless he has other things he'd like to follow at first, of course.

I won't get to that battle today anymore, but I can give the conditions I'd like to set for it already for the sake of enough time to bring up an NPC.

Ventus looked somewhat befuddled by them re-telling their home region's legends to them, until he realized that it was spurred on by his admitidly strangely impartial viewpoint of that matter, causing him to let out a small sigh as he prepared to explain why he feels/thinks that way....

"I'm aware of the Legend, Nathan, but I unlike most others I don't condemn humanity so casually in the tale, nor do I automatically side with the Swords despite sympathizing with their past plight and choice to forshake my people for so long. Instead, I hold a more neutral view of everyone and the decisions they made, framed by what we know now and in context of what happened then."

"First, I assume my ancestors had their reason in engaging in war with one another, regardless whether its justified or not by today's standards, and while the razing of the great forest was indeed an tragedy, in no way did the tale say they did so purposely or with malicious intent. It was just grave and unfortunate mistake on my people's ancestor's part, rather an amoral and egregious atrocity that so many readily portray it as. Humanity can often be destructive and needlessly cruel in all manners of things, but they are not universely like so, and I would like to believe that my ancestor did not heartlessly nor cruelly nor wickedly raze a forest to the ground, but rather as you said: carelessly.  We are flawed and imperfect race as a whole, but it is rare that anyone of us are monsterous enough to do something like THAT intentionally....."

"Second, while the Swords acted admirably and with great virtue and heroism in the legend rescuing all the Pokémon from the inferno, for their can be hardly be any doubt about that, their contempt and disdain for humanity due to said accident was too severe. Yes, my people carelessly burned the forest to the ground due to their war, but it was an accident born out of a conflict they took no measures to understand its cause, nor indeed even find out why it (the fire and war itself) happened in the first place. Additionally, they choose to unilaterally condemn all of humanity and my people for what took place that day, rather than blame and/or punish only those directly responsible for that tragedy , or even let us try to make amends for the 'crime' they precieved we committed. They choose the easy route of racisim and prejudice - for that is what their contempt for humanity had evolved into at that people - and left us to mire in our own misery and self blame for the events that day. I don't fault them for doing so, however, for they acted well within their reason. Its just my opinion they could have done better to understand us better and accept we are imperfect, rather than blame us and forever leave us to our own mistakes. Legendary, Mythical Being, or not, Pokémon are not flawless paragons or perfect beings, and that includes even Reshirim and Silverfish. They can mess up or be unreasonable and opinionated like us, and we should not forget this or let their power and prestige blind us to this fact......."

"Truthfully, I was and still am delighted by the reports the Swords were making their first tentative steps back into human contact, but I also distinctly remember they could have done such things long ago , if they only tried to see us more than irredeemable fools during those periods of time. Keldo's final fate is also a mystery to me, but I like to assume that its doing well for itself thanks to the care of the Swords."

"I believe their more truth than fiction in the tale too, but at the same time I wonder something differently about Legends and the like: beyond the vast and unimaginable powers they wield, are they really so different from us at their core? With the ways their act and carry on, the way they watch over us, dictating what they do or do not care for, and intervening when they see fit to, regardless of whether its warrant or not in any case....?"

".......*Shrugs* I suppose that is a topic for another time. I rather not this become the focus of tonight's conversation when we have another one to conduct, so let us table this for now and cease discussing it, Nathan."

(IOW: This topic should be curtailed in favor of dealing with the OTHER big topic. It is interesting to note that Ven shares similar views concerning Legends as Ghetsis does, though he hold them in far greater respect/fear/worship than they ever did....)

*In Nathan's Room!*

The empath gave a respectful nod of his head in response, before stuck the stick in his own mouth and lite it up, soon sending whaffs of lavender scented smoke drifting through the air around him. While Nathan declined the offer of a smoke (Which wasn't a bad thing at all in his opinion), that didn't mean he wouldn't avail himself of the comforts it would provide. If the scent help bring about a calmer atmosphere in the room, all the better. He also flicked his wrist to summon his beloved archangel, and with some quiet non-verbal instructions/feeling exchange they let out a affirmative chirp and hopped on to bed, electing to lay behind their father and the small boy for the time being.

If they were needed or felt the need, they would begin to exude a calming, pacifying aura to help settle things down, and readily provide comforting hug or concerned nudges when needed. They didn't like conflict even more than either human did, so they would do their part to prevent it as much as possible! That, and almost any opportunity to spent with their father was a moment to be treasured indeed. ......Even the less than positive ones, for they learn a great deal about each other in those trying, adverse times.....

For awhile Ventus sat their thinking about how to best begin to approach the dire topics of Cipher and the tragic abominations that were Shadow Pokémon they created. Even by normal standards that information was extraordinarily and extremely sensitive information that would provoke a negative reaction just about anyone, but it appears that to Nathan those topic are even more so for him, so he had to tread lightly least he provoke a repeat breakdown on their part. That, and he didn't exactly want to talk about such things until he knew the extent they knew  so they couldn't try to hide stuff from them, but if the 'no give and all take' approach last time works so splendidly , then he had to reveal something to prevent things from stalling......

Finally, with a heavy, smoky *Sigh*, the sociologist began the long dreaded anticipated re-discussion:

".........Well, I suppose its time I divulge what we spoke of last night, Nathan. Our conversation was obsitciably about sharing what lore we knew of various Legends or events, but in reality the main subject of discussion was not that. In fact, you could say we never really broached it at all, despite effort on both our parts and several allusion about it cropping up. ..........*Sighs* About Pokémon whose hearts have been forcibly locked away by diabolical men, turned into unfeeling killing machine only good for conflict and death. Shadow Pokémon and the group that made them Team Cipher. Neither one of us wanted to talk much about the topic until we heard what the other knew about it, so we effectively stoned wall each other. Since I didn't wish to spend the night possibly talking in circle around the issue or trigger any arguments, I opted to end the conversation and went to bed, content with letting matters end their. You, on the other hand, did not take it so well, if your memory loss is any indication."

"......Care to explain why you feel so strongly about.......this that such a reaction could occur?"
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

Counselor Core Round 1

Poliwrath climbs out of the lap-swimming area, brushing aside the buoys and floats and coming onto the sandy beach. He puts up his fists and gets ready.

Core says "I'm ready too, Poliwrath! Let's go! Use your best move!"

Bubble Beam 1
3 Dex + 1 Fight + 3 Canalize -3 actions = 4d6
(3)(4)(4)(2)
4 Str + 3 power + 1 stab -3 vit = 5d6
(5)(5)(6)(6)(1) Tynamo takes 4 dmg! 2/6hp -2 pain. Horrible luck. Heart uses a Potion, healing him to full! 6/6hp.
Dex: (5)

Tynamo responds by drawing in the power of a nearby lamp and blasting it back!

Spark 1
(5)(5)(3)(2)
(3)(2)(3) Poliwrath takes 1 dmg 6/7hp.
Don't forget htis move can paralyze!
(5)(5)(3) But it doesn't.
More bad luck, as Poliwrath pulls an Iroh move and redirects most of Typhon's electricity into the ground!

"Too bad we cannot use our Mud Shot, Poliwrath! Even Body Slam is not as good a choice. So let's switch things up!"

Spark 2
(6)(5)(3)
(4)(2)(3) Poliwrath takes 2 dmg 4/7hp
Prl: (3)(1)(4)

Circle Throw 2
(5)
(1)(1)(5)(1) Tynamo goes sailing from Poliwrath's punch, right into the lake! Heart will have to send out a different Pokemon for now.

For a moment, Kirlia almost thinks Ventus screwed up...

...Raphael's presence and the...brutal honesty seem to work though.

It actually answered a few of the questions Nathan had been getting ready to voice.

He remembered trying to prepare for the conversation last night, what he thought it would be about...

...what he didn't know is what he might have said, nor if the topic was Shadow or Delta pokemon. Ventus's earlier remarks had been...confusing.

Now he knows the answers to those questions, knows for sure that Ventus knows what a Shadow Pokemon is...

...thanks to Raphael's soothing presence, the time spent simply thinking and trying to remain calm, and Nathan's ever strengthening bond with Kirlia, his memories don't return. Which is a good thing.

"...ah. That's..."

...

"...it's just...so...unnerving...to think about...maybe? I can't recall...this happening before, though...aside from...that one time..."

If anything, Nathan feels...at a loss. He's unsure about what to say...

Kirlia, for his part, does a double take at Ventus's brief description of Shadow Pokemon. Pokemon that don't care, have no emotion? That kill without a second thought?! He shudders. The thought of a being incapable of feeling...it's terrifying for one so sensitive to emotions...

Without even thinking about it, Nathan and Kirlia end up hugging each other, the movements being perfectly synced once more. Kirlia to assure Nathan that he's not alone in this and has a solid foundation to stand on, Nathan to try and ease some of Kirlia's worry and fear.
