Yes, but SE and QE damage is always helpful to have since it ignores Dice Luck altogether when a move hits, and Resistances coupled with a high Vitality/Defense essentially make a Pokémon invincible (See Abaddon's battle against Bronzong!), so it certainly can and should play a factor in fights!

Using your definations, Michael, Raphael, and Abaddon all have highly effective set up strategies that dunks on most Pokémon, Apsis and Raphael are wonderful when it comes to the various ways to support the team with their wide/powerful/annoying moves , and for bulky beasts look no further than Apsis and Haneal, and eventually Lilith once she starts accuring HP Surprise!


I'm rather surprised that Nathan actually lost that battle despite not going at it full force, but its a pleasant one none the less! That Ven's money and generosity at work right there!

Still doesn't change the fact Ven sooner cuddle with a Florges than fight Nathan anytime soon, though!

Yes, guaranteed damage is always helpful, and resistances should still be avoided if possible.  But high enough dice pools mitigate the reliance on both, which is nice.  It's when the weaknesses and resistances are extreme that you need to start paying attention to them regardless of the dice pool size.

I'd actually say Michael and Aspis are in the same category.  Both are ridiculously bulky and have a variety of ways to annoy their opponents while sloooowwwwly wearing them down, but not necessarily supporting the team directly with them.  Or quickly nuking their targets, if they have the right move setup.  Raphael has options for what he can do, much like Ralts does/Gallade will.  Hanael's a tank, through and through.  Abaddon is...a Wobbuffet.  That's basically a category all its own.

If Nathan had gone at it full force, he would have probably won and completely curb stomped Valder into the dirt in the process.  That wasn't the point of this battle.  Point was to test Valder's strength, and he's passed with flying colors! (and I think there's more to it than just Ventus's various payments. Speaking of which...when was Valder last paid for his services, anyways?)  Besides, do you think Ralts can Evade if he's trying to hold on to a pinkish-purple pearl that's the size of his head?  I don't think so!

Still think you're overreacting about that.  Ventus could easily take Nathan on right now and not break too much of a sweat doing it.  Plus, Nathan's been loosening up a little bit recently.  A little at a time, but he's gettin' there.

Well, its no secret of that he loves his Pokémon like a family you know! Its why he gets so murderously angry when almost anything Lethally harms them or poses a significant threat to their wellbeing in the first place, besides being fairly intolerant of such things and similar in general and his ruthless/pragmatic style of dealing with 'problems'.
