It's around this time that Nathan's pokedex beeps...several times.  Curious what all the fuss is about, Nathan checks what the 3 new notifications are...

1. Pokedex Update!  Notes on the evolution of pokemon species!

...well, that was rather sudden...

2. Group message from Professor Mallorn.  'Hey boss!  I'm in Cress City for the rest of today if you need to speak with me!  I'll be in room 110 of the western Pokemon Center!'

...also rather sudden...and how did Mallorn know they were in Cress?  Well, he could probably ask the professor later...he probably wanted to see how the Pokedex was coming along, too...

3. Group message from Shiva about meeting her in her room tomorrow morning.

Okay...probably important if Shiva wanted to meet with the whole group, but not urgent if she wasn't telling them to meet her right away...hmmm...

Well, that was an...interesting distraction.  Heart finding that weird, half melted brass thing also raised his curiosity a little.

...but for now, Nathan had something else in mind than exploring Cress Castle further.  He bids Heart farewell for now (just before the starly thing kicks off), and starts looking to see if there's any Kimono Girl performances coming up.  He definitely wants to be present for one of those if so.

Shiva could only choke heavily on that little bit of overwhelming taste of the Mystery Berries which earned her a worried look from her fairies, but once gotten used to this...wild taste it was actually a pleasant one, but the next time she'll think twice before being so bold and eat them both at once. Ugh...

The realization of Lilith having...well, wandered off again put her quite on edge though, not only because it has gotten dark meanwhile and she's currently at a lonely spot surrounded by pine trees and wild Pokemon of yet unknown species as she only spotted that Stantler bounding across the path earlier.

Because it'd dark, Shiva will need a light source to properly search for her astral Psychic Type, and Braixen was currently on Bill's PC. No time to run to the Center and retrive him, who knows what may happen meanwhile... The first idea to solve this issue was to simply ask these Volbeat for help, so she carefully approached one of them with both her open hands full of Pokemon Food and a peaceful body language.

"Uhm... Good evening, dear Volbeat... I see you're busy following and trying to impress an Illumise mate, so I'll get straight to my sentiment: Please, I'm in need for your help, dear one. One of my Pokemon has wandered off and I'd rejoice for the help of your glowing tail to find her... I will not attempt to catch you, and you can have all this free food alongside my thankfulness from me in return. Your kind probably knows this place at night better than anything... I dunno, maybe helping a human woman in need would also earn you an Illumise's favour once she finds out about your generosity."

If this won't work, Shiva would have to rely on the flashlight on cell as well as Furret's Foresight, Keen Eye Ability and sense of smell instead.

Volbeat thinks that's a fantastic idea. He lands on your head and starts blinking, Illuminating the area.

(Even only one of the two dice being generous delights me, and now they seem to desire making up for that that failed one by that epic Empathy Check. Neat.)


"Thank you, Volbeat... Really. Now then..." All of Shiva's Pokemon get recalled into the Balls then, except for Furret who earns a serious and somewhat worried glance from her. "Please keep your keen eyes open, Furret - your big black gothlike companion you got to know at the fleemarket has wandered off when we weren't looking, and there are wild Pokemon around... If you spot them and they seem about to attack us, please quickattack them. Let me know if you spot Lilith."

With that said, Shiva entered the growing darkness with Volbeat and Furret, adamant that she won't stop searching until she has found her Pokemon.

Looks like they were attracted to Volbeat's Illuminate. These Exeggcute are a bit strange - they have tiny threadlike roots coming from their bottoms, and one has a tiny green tube of some kind protruding from the crown of its egg.

Awesome.  That works out well.  "Hey Furret, you might find this interesting.  The Kimono Girls are doing a Tea Ceremony early tomorrow morning.  It's quite the interesting tradition.  They've been dancing to honor and celebrate our bonds with pokemon for hundreds of years, and the tradition started right here in Cress before eventually spreading to the Tohjo region.  Gonna have to get up earlier than we did today to see it...but I think it'll be worth the trip!"

Hmmmmm...actually, maybe everyone else would like to join as well?  Nathan puts together a quick text and sends it to every member of the group!  (@PhantomUnderYourDesk @Lord Windos @Spiritmon @Nylon)

Hey guys, I know Shiva said 9 AM, but would ya be willing to get up a few hours earlier?  The Kimono Girls are doing a Tea Ceremony tomorrow morning at 6 AM!  I definitely don't want to miss a chance to see them do their thing, so I plan to get up early and head to their building to watch.  It's the single story, red roofed pagoda with the statues of the eeveelutions and dragons if you're interested.  Don't wait on me in the lobby, since I'll be heading to the pagoda immediately agter breakfast.  Ceremonial dances wait for noone, after all!

That SUPER-RANDOM encounter of THREE Exeggcute in the night indeed caused Shiva to pretty startled halt in her search for Gothy, and seeing them attack the small Volbeat she carries caused her protectively hug that firefly and turn away from the Exeggcute while keeping her gaze locked on them and taking a step back, in the hope that this way she can prevent them from fainting her vivid light source or at least stop attacking for now. Huh, if she wasn't mistaken that one with the green tube coming from the crown of its egg must be the closest one to evolve out of this small group, although they all seemed...growing in some manner.

"N...No! I'm not here to pose a threat or such, I'm just on the search for my own Pokemon wandering around here! Please forgive me if I have foolishly invaded your territory, Exeggcutes, wasn't my intention and I'll leave you alone if you desire... Has particular Pokemon disturbed your rest in some way? Have you possibly seen her? A humanoid black Pokemon..."

Part of Shiva was already preparing for a battle shall the Exeggcute not listen, but to her knowledge the species of Exeggcute is not an agressive species...unlike these Exeggutor that seemingly dwell in Earthstar Forest according to Guidebook. But she also wondered whether it is even allowed to battle in the research plantation for Long Grass - but battling a Pokemon CAN be research?

As soon as Heart attacks one of the Starly, all the birds swarm down at once, except Murkrow. The Vullaby is mostly mischievous, plucking at Heart's hair and fluttering heavily out of reach.

All in all, there's gonna be 4 Starly and a Vullaby.

"Let's go then to begin the show guys. Typhon. Use Spark against Vullaby. 4 Times! If he somehow faint, use the remaining Starly. I wanna capture that Vullaby along with one Starly! Koa! Use Dragon Dance then go ahead with one Dual Chop and one Slash in the weak Target! Don't forget to hold your Lethal Damage!"

Effect: Double action.

Extra action: If any of them have 2 or 3 of HP I use a potion. And I use some pokeball to capture Vullaby and one Starly.
