Pokeball: (4)(1) vs (3)(2) Got it in one! This Haunter is identical to the other.
Valder/ @ Nylon knows that if Haunter goes down there solo, the two Pokemon may just fight, or Haunter may be the one drive back, and Haunter could even take injury. That's a third stage vs a second stage, and Chandelure's toughness hasn't been assessed yet.
There won't be any way to observe an interaction between the two Pokemon.
So this will have to be something that Nylon specifically authorizes.
Edit: This'll probably come down to an Insight+Fight+Intimidate vs Will, to scare Chandelure up. If you want to spend any XP, Valder. (assuming Chandelure is down there)

Nah, not purposely seeking anything out. Just headin' to the shrine with a Furret, Ralts, and Castform in tow. A roll will be fine if anything does show up.
(1)(2) = 3, rare encounter
As Nathan is strolling through the park, an Emolga wakes up and chirrups at him from a hollow tree! It seems grumpy at being woken up so "early" in the day, but it doesn't seem aggressive.

Whoa, is that an EMOLGA?!
Well, didn't expect to find somethin' that rare on a casual stroll through the park..heck, he didn't even know Emolga lived around Cress City...seems just a tad grumpy, though...well, nothin' some general good cheer probably can't fix, right?
Nathan's in a pretty good mood, so he waves at the flying squirrel-mouse pokemon.
"Mornin'! Sorry about wakin' ya. Since you're up though...care to join us? We're gonna be havin' a small picnic here in the forest since we haven't had a proper breakfast yet! Lots of honey to go around, and a few other snacks I picked up a little earlier. Always room for one more!"

(Sweet, that means I have two Haunter/Gengar [Since that is what they'll be when traded] to barter with! Not sure if Cress is the right place to flog them, though, so some Teleporting might be necessary to find the right place for trading.
As for the Haunter/Chandelure Conflict, you are right about that, but I'll state that Ven will give over one of his Sitrus Berries for Haunter to hold onto should Valder/ @ Nylon agree to this plan of action.)

Emolga flies down and snatches some honey and whatever kind of biscuit or whatever you have. Then it heads on up back to its tree, but not all the way inside the hollow. It converses with Nathan in a constant stream which seems to change from grumpy to happy to nonchalant and back to a rant.

Yeah, that makes Haunter as valuable as a third stage mon, and it's hard to get to their nest without getting disappeared. That disobedience tanks a lot of the value though. Gotta find the right buyer.

There'd be some fruits, biscuits, some granola bars, maybe a few nuts, the usual pokefood...bit of an on-the go type breakfast, something simple that doesn't require a lot of prep. They can definitely stop here for that picnic before continuing to the shrine.
Interesting that this Emolga seems to definitely not be a morning pokemon...but at least it seems to be kinda happy to be included in this? Maybe?
Well, whatever the reason, it's just nice to be sharing this time with the various pokemon Nathan's got around him.
"Out of curiosity, ya get a lot of company around here, Emolga? Don't mean to pry if it's too personal a question. Just curious is all."

Emolga shakes his head, and explains to you in great detail exactly what his daily life is like. You can't really catch any of that. Many Emolga are nocturnal, though, according to the Pokedex. These deep woods Emolga are pretty reclusive.

"HOW he's going to find it, is entirely his call. Mr. Finder has that amazing sense of smell that he was able to correctly describe the Medium dwelling in the Violet Tent to me, though it's somewhat...true that he can work faster if he has something with the smell of the Library. Doesn't matter though, he said he can find a path through Mount Sentry to the Library for us when I asked him about it, and whether he still charges when the search turns out not fruitful is something I can ask him later, as I wanted to head to the Tent today again anyway." (Player's Note, to trade Druddigon and meet the Medium) ..."Oh, and simply IF he'd try to betrayal us or something, it'd be us five against him, it wouldn't be that smart to rebel in such a situation."
"...if you don't mind, I'd like to come with you then and hear what he has to say myself. Besides, there's something I wanted to ask you as well, and I wanted to see what they have in stock at that place anyways. I've heard it's able to rival the Department Store in some regards."
That, as well as that faint but to her certainly present hint of disbelief, eventually caused caused to slightly frown and keep her gaze on Nathan for a tab bit longer than normal, but all in a friendly and non-intimidating matter. "F...Fine then, surely ya can come with me. Just hang around at the Lobby down this Center or, wait, rather at the entrance of the Violet Tent a little after noon, I'll eventually come and meet you there. Though the Medium I'd still like to see alone with my own Pokemon, please. Oh, and yes, the feemarket in that tent is very amazing, much to my taste, but -" At that point, Shiva throws a subtly concerned and faintly sad glance over to Ventus - "It'd be nothing you'd enjoy, dear."
"You can ask me what you like, Nathan, sure, whether and how I answer depends on many factors. I'm not biting though~" *suggestive smile, and a delighted chirp from Cottonee*
Now now, my dear, don't start to overthink now what he wanted to ask you.
I...I won't... Busy... It could be anything he wants to ask me, from advice on something, tutoring, a trade, over insight on Pokemon Breeding to a date himself.
*snort* Definitely not the latter. Wait and see!~
Then, silence followed and reigned for a little, while the only sounds clearly audible came from the playing Furrets, Shiva was enjoying their happy chirps. Eventually, she was the one who carefully broke the silence. "......*cough* Okay then, uhm, anything else that needs to be said or discussed or said?" (You, @ Nylon?) "Because if not... Heart, we can actually go and search a battlefield a little outside of town then. Oh, and yes, I'd like to...swap around in my party by myself a little too."
--------------------
Mechanics:
True story, from my side meeting can be finished now, and after both Shiva and Heart have swapped their party a little (Spirit said he wanted to do that too) and she has waved Ventus goodbye with a smile suggesting that she looks forward to the evening, you can outright introduce us to a fitting battlefield please, @Iron. It'll be a Full Team Double Battle, no Potions allowed, other Healing Items are okay if they are not spammed indefinitely, no fainting, no restrainments on moves was Spirt's sentiment (meaning I can/shall(?) use any trick my Pokemon have to my discretion and liking).
I hope your PM-Inbox is ready, I already know which two Pokemon of mine will open the battle, so let's get started! Due to timezone difference, work and stuff this battle will likely take at least a day to be wrapped up, but I've been looking forward to battling Heart!~

Heading south instead, you come to the western edge of the vast meadows and forests that fill southern Creshire. You find a nice clearing where some logging has been going on. There are many stumps, a few overhanging limbs, and some logs, plus what I find on every single logging job I've ever been on: old canned meat tins. The clearing is nice and flat and clear of trash though.

The Skull Ruins.... Shiva casts a half-worried, half-expectant glance that was subtly filled with fear over to it a sit came into view. Naturally that she picks up her dearest Pokemon's discomfort over battling, so she opts to try a different direction.... The edge of these MEADOWS and forest were much more to her liking, which showed on her expression and bodylanguage if Heart's paying attention, before she can't help but to investigate a few stumps in curiosity over the annual rings possibly visible now, kicking a few metal tins in the process. White Forest was much cleaner and free of trash in her memory. :C
Eventually, Cottonee had to remind her by nudging her with a leaf that they were here to BATTLE! Even against a small green dragon!!, so eventually Shiva brought her attention back to Heart - she was facing him in somewhat timidly, insecure whether she'll be able to stand a chance against him... But with her defeating of Dagny, she feels like she CAN at least give Heart a good battle? Or do a good performance? Or learn something from this friendly battle for testing strength and training? Probably all of that in a nice assortment.
"Uhm.... Okay then, Heart, you....wanted a battle 'gainst me, so you'll get one, I guess... My first two Pokemon of choice are ready, H-how about we send them out at 3? 1..... 2.... well, 3!" (First PM incoming, Iron.)
(Also, since I know Heart is seeing my chara as a Dragon Slayer Trainer, I've picked a theme from Fairy Tail for my side of the battle. C: )
Heart nod his head in anticipation for the incoming battle. He punch one first to another. "Lets go find a good place for battle then. I excited to begin our battle! Nathan and Valder, you can join with us to witness the great battle!" Then Heart follow Shiva and swap his party to bring his best combination (PM with the information coming @ Iron!).
After that swap of his team, Heart follow Shiva to their battlefield. Heart could see the Skull Ruins, and couldnt reject to feel a uneasy feeling about that place. With the vines. He know they have win and be able to throw back that evil thanks to the help of the Sage, but he knew sooner or later they will need to fight against Claydoll and his army of Tangrownt. Koa was in Heart shoulder and snar with the vision of the Skull Ruins. Heart then try to calm his draconic friend. "Dont worry Koa. We are safe from the threat of the Skull Ruins for now. Thats why we need to get stronger to fight against them."
Heart then see Shiva. He know she feel a bit insecure, knowing her. Heart then give a weak punch in her shoulder to make her feel better and alert for the battle. "Earth calling Shiva. Commander Heart talking with you." Say Heart with comedian side. "Dont need to be worry Shiva! We are not in some sort of battle of life and death here. Thats just a friendly battle between us. And I quite happy to have the chance to battle with ya. But I just want to say one thing: This may be a friendly battle, but dont think I take easy with ya! Lets do our best okay?" Then Heart offer his punch to Shiva punch back (something like a bro first, or in this case a Bro/Sis punch @ PhantomUnderYourDesk).
After that Heart was finally ready to bring his pokemon in battle. "Lets go them! Here my first two pokemons!" Them he throw his pokeballs in the same as Shiva.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.

A lot of boredom in some of those words, though, I imagine. Which I'm sure Ralts would pick up on.
"Not a very exciting daily routine, huh? Yeah, I hear ya...I come from a rather quiet place myself...Trillium Town, farther north. At the foot of an active volcano. About the most exciting thing that happened there though was seeing the Running start around the slopes of the volcano...from a loooonnnngggg ways away. And that only happens once a year. Not very exciting in the long term. Lots of cool hiking trails in the forests around the mountain's base, though. And I guess it is a bit of a crossroads for the northern part of the region..."
Nathan snacks on some stuff, thinking.
"...ya know, ya ever thought about maybe traveling? Would probably be a great deal more exciting. I know my life certainly has been since I set out...been across maybe half of the region by this point..."
