The inside of the gym is a maze! Well, not the main hallway - that part is easy to navigate, very straightforward, leading to doors saying "EMPLOYEES ONLY," "CHALLENGERS," "SPECTATORS," and "WAITING ROOM PARK."

The maze is a bunch of tubes that tangle their way across ceiling and walls, crossing over each other, ducking above the ceiling or below the floor, twisting in all directions. Some are translucent, others opaque: they are the only bright colors in the Gym. There are a few portals to this maze of tubes, but a human wouldn't easily fit inside.

Nathan heads to the door labeled SPECTATORS.  Well, might as well watch since he's here.  Furret's probably loving this gym.  Maybe Forthright is finding it somewhat interesting too?

Ventus works his way back to the Candelabra again, deftly avoiding any hostile Watchog or other critters. Valder follows like a shadow.

They send out Malphena, Haunter, Abaddon, and Lucifer, who use Tailwind and Safeguard. If the battle takes place close enough to be considered on this same battlefield, that should help immensely! The two buffers are recalled; the two ghosts have Sitrus Berries.

Ventus will be controlling Malphena and Apsis, the latter remaining behind as bodyguard. Valder will be controlling Haunter, with Theo as bodyguard. 

Ventus and Valder are both all charged up, really excited to get revenge! Their eyes even gleam in the half-light. 

Anything to add before Haunter and Malphena descend into the Candelabra?

When you pass the first portal, Furret dives right in and you can hear her skittering around in the maze of tubes! She loves this!

Shiva will probably paint the name onto the piece of wood later this Day, and make a late night's trip to Cress Cementary today to 'try her new Cleanse Tag out', means seeing what it will ward off and what not practically. The aim will also be to give Yena and Furret a battle against a Ghost Type or any not too weak Pokemon that she'll hopefully find there.
However, she'll text Ventus about this asking whether he can come along as backup, both because she does not put herself in believed danger after yesterday's talking and because he outta-chara brought the idea of joining in this up himself. I hope there'll be time after revenge...

All in all, Shiva sounds rather excited over this, however subtly insecure and hopeful that they're doing the right thing.

Tanuki is lounging on a big pillow, playing with a Zigzagoon, lifting it up in the air, even tossing it. 
"Ah! A challenger, huh? I'm Tanuki, who are you?"

She jumps to her feet. "Let me tell you the rules real quick. This is the Normal gym, so there's no consumable items here - no Potions, no Awakenings, nothing like that at all! Held Items are OK, and even encouraged! If you win, I'll give you a great Held Item! My Gym is a test of the trainer more than a test of technology. Beyond that, it's just normal 4x4 single battle League Rules, battling until one trainer has no Pokemon that can continue!"

"Oh, yes, ma'am, we can make a contract. I'll keep this book overnight and try to imagine what a place full of old dusty books would smell like." He puts it under the table for now. Then he grabs a piece of paper, fills it out, passes it to you, gets you to sign, and holds out his long fingers for your money.

"I did a little research on what a Secret Library is. It's supposed to be guarded by a few stone puzzles and things, so I hope you will spend the next two days seeking more hints about that. The research is very vague. If you can find me a shard of the stone the Secret Library is made of, we will get there much faster. If the Secret Library turns out not to smell like old books, you'll get your money back, minus expenses, because I won't be able to find it in that case."

Nathan's definitely happy to see that.  He doesn't mind letting Furret having a little fun, but they're not lingering in the main hallway forever.  "Alright, Furret, I'm headed through this door right here.  Gonna watch Heart's battle with Tanuki."

He's pretty sure Furret will follow since he has the Carvanha Egg still.

Nathan's certain that's not how the saying goes...and he's pretty sure Heart was judging the book by its cover a moment ago...he doesn't say that out loud, though.
