The Dragon Queen of the Sea finished her preparations for the Round, looking much more powerful as her presence seemingly loomed over the battlefield, smothering all but her master Reiner, he seemed to bask in her draconic might and glory!

Well, it's not because Clair's Kingdra used it, that's for sure.  If anything, though, Reiner's making sure to keep a close eye on Kingdra.  Don't need her going on a rampage now of all times...

Still, it does feel good to be all buffed up and mighty.  They haven't had a good chance to flex their skills in awhile.

This is why Kingdra Neptunian Arendse is Reiner's Ace and essentially a sister to him.  Not that he'll ever say that out loud if they aren't alone.

The cat thief looked grumpy but somewhat mollified by your explanation of the lapse, though when you alluded to Mew's......less than steller future outlook on things, it turned into one of faint surprise and curiosity. He then made a 'tell me more' gesture, clearly intrigued and a little.....nervous by that little tidbit you offered. Oh boy, this is going to be either real good, or real bad.

(Feeling a little nervous now, eh?  Good.  Reiner is too.  Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond his and Mews' control, Reiner now has to 'fix' things to keep them from getting too out of hand.  Thus, to keep Mew from being a ridiculously heavy burden due to trauma making her near useless for months...well, how do I go about saying this...hmmm...)

(...well, the short of it is that Mew isn't going to like what had to be done.  And if she can't bring herself to like someone even a smidgen...well, they might as well not exist to her if they don't warrant her attention in any way.  She will be cold.  Logical.  Stubborn.  And just really irritable in general.  However, that might be a good fit if Reiner decides to continue hanging around with your Rocket buddies for an indeterminant amount of time...)

(...oh, and Reiner is partially blaming himself for that outcome, just so you know.  It's reminding him a lot of when Lucy was taken and he couldn't do a damn thing about it.  He could use a good friend's company to remind him that things aren't all bad right now, that they'll get better if enough time and work is put into them.  And I do believe you're the only one who can truly fill that niche for him, my dark and handsome feline friend with untapped potential.  So after this battle, I'd recommend you go and remind him why you're one of his best buds in his opinion.  Mew's got nothing on you in that area, and she'll never be able to fully replace neither you nor Kingdra. Just another little something I think you should keep in mind...)

Speaking of Reiner...he still has to respond to Arial.  So here we go:

Reiner smirks a little at Arial's compliment.  "And you've impressed me on several counts already.  Let's see if your cat and bat can truly compete with my draconic seahorse, or if they'll be tossed aside like rag dolls in a Hurricane.  Not even Arbok tangoes with Kingdra if he can avoid it."

Yes, yes, let your power ebb and flow within you, dear sea queen! They say too much of it corrupts or makes one lose control, but is that always such a bad thing, especially for one so mighty as you are, hehehehe.......

Even with his dislike/distrust of you and him being generally disagreeable to anyone but Reiner, Weavile has the decency and werewithall to look a bit chastised and shocked as you revealed the full extent of what will become of Mew. Which, due to being especially Insight compared to just about everyone but Blissey, he understood as this: his partner had to turn her into an apathetic shadow of herself in order to cope with the immense amounts of grief and trauma from something awful enough that even you were reluctant to talk about.

It would be hardly a hyperbole to say that after events of yesterday night, he utterly despised Mew with every fiber of his fine, fine being for not only being an overly annoying gadfly, but for also exponentially compounding the already worrying amount of trouble they (Reiner and co) run into and leading him astray from the criminal lifestyle that had and would have continue to give them everything. Seeing her in her traumatized state at the Pokémon Center may have brought him some vindictive joy at the time, but to hear the full disasterous and frankly horrific ramifications of it......even he wasn't that cold blood not to care about her plight. Pretty ironic change of heart, considering he's a Dark/Ice type!

The fact that his partner and best friend also felt responsible for whatever caused Mew to go catatonic and eventually apathetic made him more troubled and upset as well. He well knew that once Reiner got into a bad funk or started blaming himself for something, he almost never got out of it without a fierce yet depressing struggle with himself and a lot of help from themselves/Kingdra. It didn't help matters that he associated whatever disaster with Lucy abduction by those damn Elders.......

Urgh.....now he's thinking about when Taylor.......left, no thanks to you. It took Reiner years for them to recover from her disappearance and seeming abandonment of them all, and still he's cold and/or awkward to almost all female company right now! Heck, in their opinion, the only reason he got along with Angelica or Kyubi so well in the first place was that he pitied/felt responsible the situation they were forced into unintentionally by him (one more so than the other...), and so started bonding with the women to 'make it up' to them in his own way! He doesn't want his partner to become even a little more dysfunctional or maladjusted that he was now (no matter how much he liked some of the changes those quirks brought with them) if he could help it, and if you said him lending a comforting paw would do just that, that he still that special and important to them.....

The onyx feline disconcerted expression faded away as a firm, serious one manifested itself in its place, crossing his arms and give you a singular nod of his head. Generally speaking he doesn't like to follow the orders or suggestions of anyone other than himself and Reiner,  but what you said resonated within him, so he was willing to listen to you and follow your advice once again. Judging by the hard gleam in his eyes, though, he doesn't want such things to become a regular occurrence, or he was going to get extra testy in future conversations with you...

The Gauntlet Round 14!

In an instant, Gaspar's leaped from Arial's shoulder onto the arena, their body already in the process of:

They barely managed to shift into an exact duplicate of Kingdra, copying her base states, stat modifications (+ 1 STR and DEX, Focus Energy)stolen Technician ability in addition to the Masochism bonus! Altogether, that causes his Initiative  to be raised to 14, putting 'her' above the original!

The aquatic nightmare was briefly stunned at seeing a spitting image of herself face off against her in battle.......before she let out a bellowed out in rage at the audacity of that mimic for DARING TO RIP OFF HER MAJESTY AND ALL POWERFUL DRACONIC MIGHT!!! There can only be one true Dragon Queen of the Sea, and she will NOT LET SOMEONE STEAL THAT FROM HER!!!!

So when Reiner boldly declared : "Behold, the true power of a Dragon Tamer!" , she reared herself back roared in fierce glee at the chance to utterly DESTROY her inferior copy, a brilliant orange orb energy beginning to bud into existence at the end of her snot, before it RAPIDLY expand to ENORMOUS SIZE. She gave her opponent one last nasty glare for good measure, before releasing!

The master impersonator BARELY is able to hang one and keep 'her' ground as the explosion from the Move resounded throughout the arena, thought thanks to the A.V./Achie? possessing keen foresight and wisdom along with pockets as deep as the Marianus Trench, The Training Room was completely sound proof and has plenty of dampening material to prevent it from scaring everyone in the building. That certainly did do that much for everyone but Reiner, Mr. Mime, and the combatants though, as they were all thrown for a loop by the NOISE generated. Reiner was used to it by now due to repeated practice, and Mr. Mime was just unflappable in most situations that doesn't involve friends and close ones alike.

However, 'she' still managed to cling to consciousness long enough to let out a challenging trumpet of her own at the raging dragoness, before preforming the exact same Move as her, which due to the boosts she has will be even JUST AS powerful than THIER'S OPPONENT'S POTENTIALLY. Oh crap, brace yourselves, for they are going to use!:

The afformentioned dragoness was stunned (And in severe Pain, but she could ignore that) that not only had Gaspar survived her Draco Meteor, but had in fact duplicated the move itself in its entirey and used it on her to the EXACT same effect, right down to the Damage being the same! .....OH THAT IS FUCKING IT! SEE IF YOU CAN HANDLE ANOTHER ONE, YOU *Censored for being to vulgar!*

No matter WHAT Damage was inflicted upon Gaspar, the next EXPLOSION does 'her' in figuratively speaking, sending him flying out of the arena and impacting Arial along the way, thankfully de-Transforming into their base form before then, very much Fainted and battered!

Arial is knocked flat on the ground by this 'fateful' reunion, more than a bit dazed from it and all the Draco Meteor that went off in close proximity! This prompted Durendal (who had long ago since taken refuge safely away from the battlefield) to let out a *Gasp!* of shock, before they swooped on over and landed right in front of their friend, taking their place as their last Pokémon! Type disadvantage + ludicriously powerful Dragoness or not, they were going to defend them no matter WHAT from her, even if it costs them dearly! They will not fail them again!!!

(Their Initiative will come later, after everyone has a chance to react to these events. I'll Kingdra's reaction and management to you, Dragonstrike.)

Arial almost could not hear anything after that succession of Draco Meteors in every place on this room. One was enough to almost make him deaf. Now 3 make him a lot dizzy (since Cats have more sensitive insticts and all even if Arial its not a real cat). But after the last explosion when Gaspar was sent flying on Arial direction, he did his best to secure Gaspar surviving using his body as a shield. Both of them flat on the floor. He take a few minutes trying to stand up again after such demonstration of power from the might dragon. "Urgh..." He try his best to stand up. Then he looks Gaspar in his arms. He check up him to see if everything is okay. He release a heavy *sight* of releaf knowing that his brother is okay. Durendal then come to the battlefield ready to battle against his might foe!

"Gaspar is okay Durendal. He not received any lethal damage." He looks to Kingdra and nod his head. "Thank you for holding the lethal damage Kingdra and Reiner. Durendal, be careful. Even after receiving all that damage, Kingdra still a might foe. One hit, and you are finish it. We must finish this quick in one attack so take care. Thats last round...will decide who will win."

As ordered, Kingdra appears to be focusing on doing...something before the Round ends.

She's in Pain right now, but she will not.  Be.  Usurped.  She will...

"Kingdra.  Pause for a moment."

She stops and turns to look at Reiner.  What?!  Why are they not immediately continuing to crush these weaklings with their superior might?!

Reiner is staring veeerrry intently at Durendal.

That fierce will to continue fighting against almost insurmountable odds...that desire to not fail again...it reminds him a lot of...

...well, himself, to put it bluntly.  Though he can also feel a smidge of the shiny Gligar's...indecision?  That pokeball he's holding as well...

...all of that certainly speaks volumes.

"...you're certain you wish to continue, Durendal?  Certain you wish to defend him no matter what may happen to yourself?"

In other words: is he certain Arial is deserving of that Loyalty?

Kingdra is still eager to get going again, but she knows that Reiner seems to be asking a very important question that holds a lot of meaning...so she waits.

For now.




Weavile, however, has that deeper Insight into the reason Reiner's asking the question. He'll know for sure that Reiner is finding this Gligar relatable to some wounds Reiner has taken in the past...some of them are fresher than others, though...

Arial keep a few seconds, seeing the questions Reiner is asking to Durendal. He think disagree with him, but then he realize something: The indecision of Durendal in join with Arial itself in become his pokemon. Thats why Durendal have asked the Ultra Ball. Even Arial have doubt before in his own decisions or be wortly in be Durendal trainer. Is he wortly in be his trainer. Using the strengh he have, Arial put a hand in Gligar shoulder. "You are not force to go foward with this Durendal. Even if you are not a official pokemon of my team, you have come to defend us. But as a trainer and friend, I cant force you to go foward in this battle and hurt yourself. You dont need to fight if you dont want. You have free will Durendal, and you are free to decide your own path."

The scorpiobat knew their mimic friend was not Lethally Injured from Kingdra's moves, as they've seen enough of their own handy work and the predation of other Pokémon to disguise between deadly wounds or not, but the news they (Gaspar) was okay still brought a relieved smile to their face. A quick nod of their head was issued at your warning, as they well knew she was capable of eroding him away in an instant with either a salty Brine, explosive Draco Meteor, or worse. They would not be taking the Dragon Queen of the Sea lightly; no, they were going to finish her off with prejudice.

"...you're certain you wish to continue, Durendal?  Certain you wish to defend him no matter what may happen to yourself?"

In other words: is he certain Arial is deserving of that Loyalty?

Reiner's words seemed to cause the grinning glider to falter a bit at such a probing question, looking seemingly nervous at themselves as they stared at their claws/pincers , before they clamped them tightly and looked back up at the Big Bad Boss and got into battle stance against Kingdra. Let their willing to fight on Arial's behalf serve as their answer. They will defend him......and they will redeem themselves too.

"You are not force to go foward with this Durendal. Even if you are not a official pokemon of my team, you have come to defend us. But as a trainer and friend, I cant force you to go foward in this battle and hurt yourself. You dont need to fight if you dont want. You have free will Durendal, and you are free to decide your own path."

They shrug off your concern and touch with an affable smile and a 'fist' pump, showing you not only they wanted to defend you, but that they were confident enough that they could win this! Sure, its more than likely they'll get hosed down by the raging dragoness, but one good hit on her means she'll be sleeping with the fishes tonight instead of them! Still......they were pretty bulky though, so they'll have to him them with their strongest move to break through those defense.....!

With the chatter died down both Pokémon took a step forward and defiantly glared at each other, ready and willing to see who would win in this fight: Reiner's Ace, or Arial's Wild Card?

Gligar's Initiative: 6 + Quick Claw (1, Where the heck did they find this at?!) + (4) = 11, Goes before Kingdra

The Last Round of the Gauntlet is almost certainly going to be the next one! Who will win, Reiner or Arial?!

Kingdra trumpets a battle cry as she finishes with the task she spent her third action of the previous Round enacting!

Kingdra's Ability has changed to Swift Swim because of her Uber Capsule.

"Stand tall and proud, and no matter what happens, know that both of you gave it your all!"
