[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
(08-04-2018, 05:50 PM)PhantomUnderYourDesk Wrote: Somewhere along the way to Tanuki's Gym, Shiva would stop under a tree to type up a message to Nathan and Heart, the waterly Eeveelution doesn't seem to mind the stop at all. Rejoices over it even as she attempts to climb that tree to lick raindrops from its leaves.

Nathan notices he got this text sometime during the bonding/training/feeding/reviewing session after he's gotten away from the crowds.

Reading it...gives him a funny feeling.  Like...he's not sure how to describe it...

He does send a reply:
...alright.  I'll try to be there.

...well, that's oddly...brief by Nathan's standards, to say the least.

Hungry giant sauropod, that's for sure.  But given that she probably needs all that nutrition due to still being a 'newborn', Nathan doesn't really have many complaints for the time being.

In fact, this is a good opportunity to observe how D?-Tropius uses Cut...it might not be the ultra powerful version, but it is still a strong field move.  And perfect for trimming those smaller plants for easy consumption.

Nathan also takes some time to try and get Pulse and Porygon-Z to focus on getting back in practice.  They've been out of the action for awhile, so some practice with their STABs would likely be a good refresher.

Nathan was going to maybe try getting in some tutoring practice to see how well he might do with it...but then he remembers that he didn't bring Grid with him.  Derp!  Ah well, he can spend the time reviewing what he remembers Shiva doing instead...

Training session for D?-Tropius, Porygon-Z, and Pulse!

Oh, and how are those Casteliacones that Pulse was keeping refridgerated doing?
They both still there?  Need to question the Frost Rotom about that during this time, too.
That was Day 49. I'll do about one roll per week.

(4) vs (4)(3)(3)
(6) vs (4)(1)(5) bzzt
(1) vs (3)(4)(4)

When you open Rotom's door, he tosses the soggy remnants of the Casteliacones right into your face like a cream pie. They were already melted and refrozen into their new gloppy shape and freezerburned consistency.

He seems grumpy about that whole thing.

The exact reason I gave Tropius Cut was for harvesting plants in bulk like this. Tropius works without regard for the plant's size, any trunk smaller than his mouth is slashed down with tail or mouth and all the greenery chomped away. It leaves some rough poles.

Tropius and Porygon gain 2Xp, the Cress Effect, but Rotom only gains 1 'cause he's ornery.

Birdkeeper Gray Round 2

Dragon Dance 1
(2)(2)(3)(5)
+1 Str +1 Dex for Koa

Coil 1
(5)(1)(5)(2)
+1 acc +1 Def +1 Str for Typhon

Bagon interrupts the dance, smashing into Koa and barreling on through! "Hehe...sorry, she's not gonna be much of a performer until much much later when she evolves."

As she passes, she breathes little flames right in Koa's face. One of the few things that can really hurt a dragon!

Dragon Breath 1
(6)(5)(3)(1)(2)
3 Str + 2 power +1 STAB -4 vit = 2d6+1
(6)(2) Koa takes 2 dmg 6/8hp -1 pain
Paralyze: (4)(5)(5)

Time seems to stop. Aside from the rain, Mothim alone is moving. He's moving directly upward, like a kite, without flapping his wings at all. When he reaches the apex, he performs a complicated acrobatic maneuver which sends scales of every color raining down on Heart's Pokemon.

Hidden Power 1
(4)(4)(1)(5)(6)
Roll: (1) Hidden Power became Electric type. Eelektrik is hit by a yellow scale.
3 Str + 3 power -5* vit = 1d6-1, so the beautiful attack deals no damage.
CD: (5)

Dual Chop 2 & 3

(3)(4)(3)(4) Mothim takes 3 dmg 1/7hp -3 pain
CD: (4)(2)(5)

No more dice for Bagon or Mothim.

Dragon Claw 4
(2)(6)(1)
(3)(4)(3)(4)(1) Bagon takes 3 dmg and faints!

Spark 4
(6)(3)(6)(1)
Mothim faints!

"Oh well. At least I got to show off Mothim's Hidden Power! His acrobatic display sends scales of various types down on his enemies! Sometimes it hits multiple foes, sometimes it may Confuse or Paralyze or Poison or whatever, depending on the element of the scales in question! Good battle!"

Heart gets $600x2 = 1200$ from Amulet Coin.

Each Pokemon gains 4XP and Heart gains 8XP.

So close, yet so far...

Nathan slooowly wipes off the now unusable ice cream and sighs...

"...okay, fine.  You don't like carrying stuff around.  Just...fine...*sigh*...what a waste of perfectly good ice cream, though..."

He'll have to spend a little more time with Pulse at some point to get to know the mischief maker better, it seems...Nathan does his absolute best to try to not get angry at Pulse for this since he knew something like this was bound to happen...

-------------------------------------------------

So, now that that's all taken care of, Nathan needs to prepare for something...namely, finishing another task so he can get his Claw Fossil revived into an Anorith or Armaldo.

Terra's probably a little tied up at the moment, but Nathan sends him a text to ask a quick question:

Terra, would ya mind helping me with something this afternoon?

Gym Leader Tanuki vs Shiva Round 1

"That's right, there are lots of great Normal Types in Mt. Sentry! Spinda, use Psy...ke! PSYKE!"

Fake Out 1
(6)(1)(6)(6)(4)(6) Critical hit!
3 Str + 2 power +1 STAB -4 vit +2 crit = 4d6
(6)(5)(2)(5) Tropius takes 3 dmg 7/10hp

Tropius Flinches 1

"Good! Now your routine, with the usual variations upon taking damage! Just like in training this morning, remember?"

As Tropius recovers, Spinda has teetered around for the flank, and winds up to sock Tropius a good one while he's trying to fire Razor Leaf!

Sucker Punch 2
(3)(3)(5)(6)(1)
(3)(6) Tropius takes 1 dmg 6/10hp -1 pain

Razor Leaf 2
(3)(1)(6)
(6)(4)(5)(4) It wasn't a crit, but those sharp leaves sure lanced into Spinda! Spinda takes 4 dmg 3/7hp -2 pain.

Razor Leaf 3
(4)(2)
(2)(2)(1)(6) Spinda takes 1 dmg 2/7hp -2 pain

Flail 3
(5)(1)(1) As Spinda begins committing every pained ounce of its body to the attack...it misses! It goes flopping around and ends up bruising itself rather badly against the maze of tubes!

Insight: (4)(1) Luckily, this deals no damage to Spinda, or Tanuki would be right out of the first match right then and there.

(Just noticed that Confusion is only supposed to last 5 actions! We've been doing that wrong. Starting now I'm going to do it right.)

Flail 4
(3)(5)
3 Str +1 power +1 STAB + 5 bonus power! -4 vit = 6d6
(2)(6)(6)(4)(2)(4) Tropius takes 4 dmg 2/10hp -2 pain.

Feint Attack 5
(1)
Insight: (6)(5), so it hits anyway.
(6) Tropius takes 1 dmg 1/10hp -3 pain.

"This is exciting! Enjoying it so far, Shiva? It's a bit different than the Little Cup, isn't it!"

"Genie, Melly, the Big Hunt is over. Now, we hunt Duskull. Move out."

Saying that with utmost gravity and finality, Terra and his Pokémon set out to find their newest partner. Come hell's peak and craggy doom, he would NOT let his Duskull escape him and his command without a damning amount of effort.

You come to Hell's Peak.

Manectric gets there first, thanks to Quick Attack letting him travel much faster than Terra's normal trained speed. Once he arrives at the mountainous region, however, Genie makes better time.

Duskull has chosen a worrisome stretch of this single mountainous ridge. He's found the part where sharp stones jut up dangerously, many spiderwebbed with cracks or otherwise unstable.

Unfortunately, Duskull moves very slowly in the daylight, and Terra has a theory that he'll try to stick to the darkest shadows among the rocks.

Survival+Alert: (3)(1)(1)(6)(6)(6)(3) +1 for aerial = 3 successes
Sneak: (4)(2)(6)(1)(4)(4) = 4 successes

Terra doesn't lay eyes on Duskull, but he determines a great place with a vast overhanging spire. It's very dark and even a little chillier under this spire - perfect for a ghost. It's very stable, at least - your Ground type agrees.

But when get within, you hear a chuckle in the distance, and four Scraggy step out to block your way forward. Looks like you're going to have to burn an Encounter with these guys before you can renew pursuit.

The simple monk gives the four Scraggy the most flat and INTENSE glare imaginable as they block his path. He then makes a sharp gesture to Genie and Melly, causing them to pull closer in front of him and give their most menacing scowls/cruelest of smiles.

"Move. *Points to his partners* Or they will remove you. I will not ask again."

The lightning wolf body starts crackling with electricity as she bears her bloody teeth at them and starts *Grring* and *Rrrrowling*, and the impish dragoness simply grins as pebbles began to tumble down from Hell's Peak. Go on. Give them an excuse to hunt their sorry hides.

Order: Have Terra attempt to Intimidate the Scaggy in GTFOing without wasting an Encounter, and I will spend 6 XP to increase my Intimidate to 2. I have a 12D6 Dice Roll to scare those punks arse now! If that fails, Melly will spam Discharge 3 times per round (Terra should be far enough away/will take convenient cover from it), while Genie spams Rock Slide (Learned for 25 XP!) 3 times per Round. Accuracy Roll for both would be 6/5/4D6 Base Dice without Pain, - 1 Accuracy for Rock Slide (Which should be more effective on a mountain, for better or worse....). Damage for D. is 9D6 Base, while for RS its 8D6 Base; both have a 3D6 Chance Effect (Paralysis for D., Flitch for RS). Time to see if they show up, or shut up.

Gym Leader Tanuki vs Shiva Round 2

Shiva couldn't help but to be impressed as dear Tanuki's Spinda practically plowed through her grassy sauropode - she keeps a calm expression and posture (with crossed arms and stuff) all in all though, except for looking more attentive on the panda's antics. She sighs imprecible, it's a looong way until her own Spinda will be that good.

Tropius has landed on the ground after the last hit, he looked weakened and exhausted; his leafy wings hang low and he had a hard time keeping his head up. A bit like a plant that isn't watered for a while - a sight that caused sharp pain within the naturalistic fairy enthusiast. She looks up though upon being adressed, her good cheer not depleted! "Oh, I.... Eh... I AM enjoying it for sure! So much different that Lil' Cup indeed... It's........amazing how well you actually battle!"~

"Alright, Tropius..." *looking back to him* "It's not over yet. Not yet, not as long as you are still standing! Since your Growth failed, channel things a little differently now to restore your health instead before going for your special final move." Invisible for Tanuki, Shiva does cross her fingers, well aware this this was a rather risky choice of actions. But if it pulls of...

------------------------
Accuracy Roll SYNTHSIS 1: 3 Dext + 3 Survival + 3 Nature - 3 Pain - 2 Actions still leaves 4d6!
Effect: Basic Heal unless the light within the Gym is very bright, 5d6 are rolled.
Secondary Effect: Sucker Punch fails, Tropius becomes greener.

Accuracy Roll FINAL ROCK SMASH 2: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 2 Brawl - 3 Actions = 4d6, less depending how much Pain Tropius restores. (Most likely -2)
Damage Roll: 3 Strength + 4 power of the move, no STAB = 7d6 +1 autodamage due to SE.
Additional notes: 5 CD to lower Defense by 1.

Intimidate: (6)(3)(3)(5)(5)(3) (2)(4)(1)(3)(4)(5) = 6 successes
They don't outnumber you enough to make a difference, but they are on home turf for +1 dice.
Scraggy: (4)(5)(1)(4)(6)(6) (1)(4)(1) = 5 successes.

The Scraggy look at each other, then suddenly move to the side and they all point in the same direction, where there's a forest of thick pine canopy.
