Night! Been enjoying how this has been going so far, by the way!
And it's definitely done a great job of filling in this gap of time between encounters, that's for sure.

I'm very tired today, so I'll leave it for today and will try to find some rest a little earlier. Maybe I'll stop by at an odd hour to see how the battle is going (which means I've woken up in the middle of the night again, hooray), but no guarantees. Until next time~

Not bad, not bad. I always forget that Dewford exists, tbh. Such a quaint, sleepy little town by the sea where nothing of great import ever seems to really happen...

I choose that as Terra's home town simply because it had low lv Makuhitas, and ended up building a backstory around that choice! I'm just glad it held up so well after literally months of being written up, and then being tweaked!

I think his backstory is pretty interesting. btw I am doing something similar with Spira's backstory, although I started with a pokemon that I ended up scrapping (the base disobedience was maximum D: ) and went from there.

I really really like how it is connected to his Stats, High Vitality/Strength in return for low Insight etc., and it's an interesting thing on it's own to be saved by a wild Pokemon. ^^ Well-written and told! On the other hand, sad and tragic backstories tend to drag me a down a little myself if they hit a nerve in the means of 'I'm feeling sorry for chara XY having experienced that', which it kinda does in Terra's case. :C I'd happily would have Shiva react to things and show some care and empathy to that mountain of a man, but oh well, we can still have our moments and stories shared together later I guess. For example, I'm actually highly curious what has brought him to distant Chreshire...?
I, eh... prefer my backstory-concept for my own chara though, am somehow feeling uncomfortable to make it sad or tragic deliberately.
Also a question, Windos, since... I'm feeling a tad bit bad for Terra to be so (your words) 'dumb as a box of rocks', even since school. Isn't there a way or chance we can, uh, make him less dumb or help in that manner?

Seeing such.....unique eyes on 'Swiftfire' briefly threw him for a loop, before he shook his head and threw Nathan a Look that could plainly be interpreted as: 'What in Reshirim's name is going on with Swiftfire? As a Pokémon Researcher, I know for a fact those eyes are NOT a characteristic of a Rapidash, nor did your horse possess them before or after tis evolution!' Ventus sure does know how to make his gazes rather ladened with meaning, huh?

Glad that this worked without any issues. Something about Swiftfire was off, very off - but not too important now. Much more important to Shiva was... "Alright, Nathan... Before we go up there *pointing to the Tusk*, presumable the ends of the Earth, can you explain us what you are hoping to find in or up there, please? Just so we are informed what to look out for... Also, does any of you Pokemon - probably Yule - know Vine Whip? Safety measures for climbing...vertically, you know."
(Because, how shall Shiva know that he too has bought a rope?)

There's a safe path up for the metagross that Zippy and Princess scouted, but it's not a straight path. They'll have to go around the loose rocks and dirt, so it's going to lengthen the climb long enough for whatever's up there to notice us."
"...I don't know exactly what we'll find up there. But whatever it is, Kirlia and I need to get there. And then get out after we've figured out if anything else needs to be done."
The determination and desperation are there still, but so is the slight lack of confidence.
When Shiva asks about Vine Whip, Nathan just silently shakes his head. "Yule's in the PC right now. I do have a 7 meter length of rope, though. It's about the same length as an average Vine Whip."

Once it was clear that Nathan wasn't going to humor his question gaze concerning 'Swiftfire's' abnomarlities, he briefly turned it on that vile hell hound and glared at it to make damn well sure it got a good concentrated dose of his utter loathing and scorn, before re-focusing his attention onto the boy. "......If that is the case, then its best we make swift, careful haste towards whatever has provoked you Combee's interest, as if we are to alert whatever is guarding this local, we may as well give it as little time to react to our presence as possible. Also, if you happen to have acquired some Rope-ah, so you have, good-, now would be the time to use it to tie yourself to your Metagross and us, so that if something happens you won't tumble off and into who knows what in the Great Divide," Ventus responded, noting the boy's own gallows mixture of negative/positively feelings, but putting it mostly out of his mind as he mentally readied himself for whatever lay ahead. Besides, he wasn't in the mood to humor their emotional fragility, unless he absolutel HAD to....
(12-19-2017, 04:21 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote: "...leave my dog alone, Ventus. I don't have to be looking at you to know you're glaring at him, and this is hardly the time for that."
That's hardly helping with stabilizing Nathan's mood.
Nathan sets Orthros down to quietly pull out the 7 meter length of rope, though. He also pulls out the 1 meter one and uses it to tie Orthros to himself, since he was going to start freezing very quickly if he didn't keep Orthros close...
Nathan was thankful that the bees seemed better able to tough this out than him...particularly since they're the ones who scouted the path up the spire...

While he wanted to do nothing more than willfully ignore them and redouble his attempts to see if he can't literally start glaring daggers into his demon dog, Ventus begrudgingly accept Nathan had a point, and let the matter rest as they prepared. For now, at least.

Ditto doesn't find that very funny. Just levels a rather goofy looking glare at Heart. Though that could easily become a Megahorn at a moment's notice...
"Heart, stop laughing at the horse and get back on your Metagross before you roll off the mountain."
Nathan didn't find that very funny either.

As for Orthros, plain and simple ignoring. As for Nathan's information, not very sufficient for Shiva's taste, but there was no other option currently.

Sentiments Nathan is more than happy to agree with. Why is it he and his pokemon seem to almost always to be the subjects of the 'jokes'/hate?

I wanted a simple, uncomplicated (in one aspect), and STRONG character as my backup should Ven had to go, so I made Terra all of that, gave him a strong moral compass, and left his Insight/Knowledge in the gutter! From there, I searched for Pokémon that would fit him and balance each other out (Originally it was just Shiranui and Basteele, but got to add more with Iron's permission!), then built a backstory around his first choice and stats! I wanted to make a character that would almost guaranteed to get along with everyone, since Ven was....devisive, so giving him good character and a sympathetic backstory was a must too, which ended up being what I described. The more adversity a chara. undergoes in life, the more interesting and fun they are to play/play with!
If you want to know how/why he left Hoen, just ask him. It isn't that special nor sensitive, so he wouldn't mind sharing it with anyone.
To each their own, and I don't blame you or ANYONE for just wanting a normal, relatively happy + undramatic life/backstory for their chara.!
In truth, Terra was born mildly retarded, and he's the type of person that wouldn't have done well in standard educational settings regardless. His parents, his teachers (to a extent...), and Brawly made sure to help him overcome his disability to a good degree, but he's always going to be more challenging and/or difficult for him to learn/get smarter stuff outside what he's good/experienced with. Maybe one day he'll gains 1 Point in Knowledge and/or Insight, but that's the about the maximum he can get purely intelligence wise.
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

I like the backstory of Terra. It is something who can always happen in real life, but still interesting and cool to see in a fictional story. Heart will indeed get along very well with Terra. Maybe someday he would like to take a journey though Sinnoh to see what the cold region? A strong character could help Heart in his journey to restore the ArcHeart clan and maybe resolve the mystery behind the extinction of his clan.
Huh. That could be a interesting sub-plot post Skull Ruins.
