[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(02-12-2019, 10:56 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Fair and good points on your choices and decisions, mate, especially in regards to not laying down the Sticky Web! If Angela is as devious as I am with battling, I'd sure as hecky take advantage of a +2 STR at a negligible cost! Still think Starmie would have been an safe choice in their own right, but I can understand you had better options and a more solid game plan for the others. Plus, how can one resist the opportunity for Calam to flaunt his superiority to a type he's supposed to be weak too, and when its practically begging and giving you all the right reasons to take it?

Also, thank you for reminding me how scary Grid is, and my own vow to never deliberately face off against the jive spider if I can help it. He's just plain nuts imo, and arguably even worse than Gallade or Calam, geez.....

Hm.....good to hear, but Terra's likely not heading back to the Safari Zone anytime soon, so I guess I'll have to catch her in Arrowroot if I want a battle. Much simpler that way, especially with Nathan's Knowledge and locals scuttlebutt guiding him right to her. Heck, if he has her phone number, getting in touch and arranging a battle is much easier potentially, but like I said l'm not in a rush to conquer all the Gyms just yet. I may not get around to getting Angelia's Badge for awhile, but rest assured I will when/if the opportunity presents itself. Challenging and fun battles are one of the main reasons I enjoy Iron's campaign, so missing out on Gym Battles is a no go for me if I can help it! Expect Terra to be asking about the ring when its convenient and appropriate, mate!

The sad part is that Terra's behind on Badges, and likely will remain so due to the Plot pushing the group to new ground and diabolical(?) mysteries and intrigue. All I just hope is that a Legendary Pokemon isn't involved in this particular mess, or at least if there is one its like Deoxys , where we could avoid it and/or getting taken aback by it is not Instant Game Over.

Particularly when Calam is also said type, amiright? Tongue I would have loved to see Angela's reaction to Calam's moonlight wings.  Ah well.  Maybe later.

----------------------------------

Galvantula just has one of those movesets that has a lot of really good synchronicity with itself in Pokerole without having to rely on obscure moves from outside its level up moves.  I can't wait until he can finally learn Thunder as well, though.  That's going to be fun Wink The catch is that he's super frail unless he's in a good position to use Leech Life or (eventually) Giga Drain. Bug/Electric isn't exactly a good defensive typing.

The craziest part is how few moves you need to make a Compound Eyes Joltik/Galvantula a dangerous opponent, and how inexpensive most of the notable ones are.  You only need 38 exp to teach a Joltik the majority of the important moves, and then another 29 to teach them Electro Ball.  Of course, if/when they evolve, the cost of all of those moves goes up, but then you also get access to Sticky Web...

The thing with Gallade is he has multiple ways to buff himself, recover his HP, and wear you down quickly without fearing retaliation too much when played properly, or can alternatively be used as an ultra flexible glass cannon.  Calam's mostly a glass cannon due to having a more focused overall movepool, but he has a few tricks that are useful when applied correctly.  The surprise Fairy typing and moves are just icing on the cake for him.

---------------------------------

Angela will be in the Elanor area on the weekends if she's in eastern Creshire (which she is atm), so it could be possible to challenge her then if she's open to Terra challenging her.  And I expect she will be.  Though...Angela has stated to Shiva that she doesn't have a phone.  At all.  And Nathan can also logically reason that she doesn't carry a phone around because...of reasons that will likely be explained later...but that shouldn't be an issue since Nathan knows her general habits and has an easy way to determine if she's in the area or not.

---------------------------------

We do still have our own trump card to call upon if necessary.  And quite frankly, I'm wondering if we're going to be using it soon for one reason or another...

You know, I have noticed something. Heart was one of the people who have 1 starter from three different generations: Infernape (Gen 4), Marshtomp (Gen 3) and Chespin (Gen 6). And each of these Pokemon is having the base types: Fire, Water and Grass.

Just something interesting I have noticed

Now Shiva has more reason than ever to not think she's inadequate compared to anyone else, for she is indeed one of the best Trainers in the region! Cheers for your victory!!!

Awww, thank you for the hug and kind words !~ ^//^ It may only be a 2vs2 battle and my STAB moves were super-effective, but I'm delighted over the vistory either way. Oh and yes, this should proof to a degree that Shiva's capable in battling if she wants to, her style is just somewhat different from the trainertypical one as well from the one of the other group members. I kinda like the silent and subtle chara-development from 'sad and downcasted due to being not as good like the others' to 'willing to take effort in becoming better'. :>

Kinda a bit disappointed that the rest of the group isn't liable to be fighting Angela anytime soon, though, given she's apparently a wandering Gym Leader that only extended the offer to Nathan for a fight (so far as I remember), and especially since he's going to get some sort of secret goodie that he's IC honorbound not to spoil to the rest of the group. Seek and ye shall find.

Oh, Shiva WILL seek dear Angela out eventually, probably in Elanor(?), at minimum to bring her the promised crafting from Spring-Sawsbuck antlers. And to show her the hatched Minicorn if possible. And because she's a fellow devotee of Fairy Type, even good enough to challenge poisonous Pokemon on a regular basis! Shiva quickly started to see her as some sort of role model in the field of Pokemon Battling, a bit like her father is in Pokemon Breeding or her mother in gentleness. She's just not the type of person who'd directly ask for a battle.

Been busy today, but I just responded to that. What was the roll to make the pyre again though? Sorry if I've forgotten, I'll edit if you tell me.

In case you are wondering Iron, Terra's Actions for his current Encounter is to agree with Geo about letting Cress know about his archeological find, take pictures of the cave pics and forward them to Nathan/Shiva/Heart/Spira with the following message : ' Dug up this cave, and found these pictures. What do you think of them?' , then proceed to his night time Encounter, ignoring Boldre entirely while keeping watch over Lunatone with Angie and Posei helping find anything interesting in the Safari Heartlands. Don't really have time to make a posts for a couple of days, so I just thought aI put them into the Meta Thread for convenience.

I hope you'll soon be able to enjoy a breather, my dear. You said earlier that you'd inform everyone about the cave drawings Terra has found though, so I'll let Shiva know about these in-chara. Probably won't directly respond in-game/keep her thoughts a monologue, but she'd enjoy them much and they're alluring a knowing smile from hers.

Two notes about the orders you sent for the quintuple Vileplume fight, @Lord Windos:

- Facade should be 11 D6 damage base if I'm doing my math right.  3 Pow + 3 Status + 5 Strength (additional note: in most cases, this move might be a little too strong for consistently getting a foe's HP as low as possible without fainting them...just a concern I wanted to voice)
- Growl uses Perform in its accuracy according to the book, not Intimidate, as it can be either cutesy or tough sounding depending on the pokemon using it (the base rules allow pokemon to use Tough OR Cute in the accuracy roll, depending on how they want the Growl to sound. Perform as a specialty can be applied to a large variety of situations since acting is a very diverse thing, and that's why the book lists it for Growl and many other moves).  The sparsely distributed Noble Roar is the variety that's always Intimidating.
