[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(03-28-2019, 02:30 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Dunny has access to Confusion and Curse, and Anubi can potentially Paralyze on a Force Palm / Angie can eventually proc it with Held Back/Debuffed Sky Falls (Have any 'mons that can lower STR?) , so after its Fainted we can get up to around - 9 or - 10 Total Will Points deducted from the big o' snakey. Hope that will be enough!

Confusion you have to at least inflict before KOing it, same as Sleep.  Not sure about Curse.  Paralysis would be a good status to inflict.  Definitely not going to be attempting to inflict Poison or Burn on it mid fight since none of my pokemon with a type advantage have those statuses available to them. Given how much of a beating an Onix can take, though, and how rare a fully grown one typically is, Nathan might not be opposed to inflicting those statuses after Onix has fainted.

Dedenne/Dittenne can lower Strength with Charm/Eerie Impulse+.  No other pokemon on hand that can do so, however.

There's hyper-caffeinated tea @Lord Windos, in the means of it is stronger than black tea? What's it called and where can I get that? :o

Well, there's many varie-tea of hyper-caffinated teas, but here's a link to one type you can purchase!: https://www.harney.com/products/scottish...5000226502

Should get you through the day, and then some!

A trained Steelix is worth a fortune. A wild one is still worth a LOT.

Good to know.

One question before I send in any orders, @Iron: would Telekinesis affect Onix at all, or is it too heavy?

Well then, if that Onix only has 9 Will, we might not have to beat it into submission until it faints after all.  If it's Paralyzed, Asleep, Flinched, and at Half HP, then that's a -5 penalty to its ability to resist capture, which an Ultra Ball might be able to overcome.  If we do end up knocking it out, though, even a Great Ball might do the trick with just Paralysis inflicted. Hmmm...

Yeah, but that requires leaving a Tough/Challenging Tier Enemy unFainted and endure its onslaught and expend healing Items/possibly Pokemon to hold the line. Meanwhile, just Fainting the darn thing and loading it up with every Status under the sun allows Nathan to easily capture it with a friggen Pokeball (Assuming its Poison, Burned, Paralyzed, Sleep, or Cursed + prior mentioned Status), making capturing it a fairly easy endevour that won't cost nearly as much if the Dice get ornery. Sure, Sleep from Gallade can mitigate Onix's firepower, but you never know what kind of tricks it might have to counter/combat such tactics......

Personally, if you want a more Loyal Onix/Steelix to play around with, then I'd say you're better off fully committing to the idea and just not doing ANY Damage to it, then just inflict it with Sleep, Paralysis (Via Angie's Held Back and debuffed Sky Falls), Confuse Ray and Curse(From Dunny). Combined, that's a 3D6 - 1 Successes of Onix's Roll, which up against a Ultra Ball gives you better than even odds of catching it. If you don't mind risking Damage/- 1 Pain, you could have it Poisoned and/or Burned too, and now that I think about it I could also bring out Shiranui/Tommy and have them use Held Back Fake Outs to inflict Flinch, once we've applied all the Status we wanted on it. Ideally after all that effort and few Ultra Balls used to catch it as possible, you could have a 2/4 Loyalty Onix or 2/5 Loyal Steelix, which would be QUITE a boon to have obviously. Its more risky and draws out the fight longer, but if you want to have a more usable Onix ASAP, then that's the means to go about it!

If you want to go with Pacifist Battle, I'll have to change orders for Anubi (Or just recall him entirely), which he may or may not be so willing to agree with, since he wants to duke it out HARD.

Also:

Quote:For just a split second, Terra's giant shadow on the wall and his steely essence convinces the Onix it has run into a Steelix. It swerves aside, then realizes its mistake and swings back around. It slows him down enough for Anubi to close that distance, a joyous, reckless look in his eyes!

I just love the fact that Terra is scary enough to make even an Onix terrified of him, if only briefly! With Pressure in the future, and Pixie's Intimidate......well, he might prestige into 'The Dreaded Tank' ! Hehehe!

Still not entirely decided on what I'd prefer to do with it, but I'm definitely not expecting to get more than 1 Loyalty outta this Onix, really.  Honestly mostly just considering trying to catch it when it reaches to half HP to end things more quickly, depending on how things go.

If I had Juliet on Nathan's person, I'd totally consider going pacifist a bit more if only because that's kinda what she does.

If you want Dragonstrike, Heart could help Nathan. Since he train a Delta Onix, maybe D-Onix could help pacify your Onix, and maybe make him more obedience.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.
