[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
Welp, if your sure Solomon won't be causing problems, then letting others carrying him around would still be a swell idea. I'd be willing to have him along if no-one else is, and I'll replace Anubi with them, as the wise king can fulfill much the same functions as they do if I/Nathan invest the appropriete XP into either Heal Pulse and/or Nasty Plot (Which isn't strictly necessary, as they have Curse for boosting). I'd be willing to also help purchase Foul Play for him too, if you want him to have Ghost protection.

So......beyond possibly accepting 'filler' Pokemon for each other, do we have our teams ready? If so, all we have to do is wait for Heart to finish his Gym Battle, and we can get going!

I'm pretty bad at making up giving competitive advice about what Pokemon to bring down the Ruins and have been travelling = less active, so I'm sorry that I barely to not at all responded to these asks ^_^; But from what I saw, the teams of every chara are set already, that's cool!~ Can you people or anyone please update that Skull Ruins Party Listing Iron once provided update accordingly for easy reference? I'll do that for Shiva later today when I'm not on cell.

I find it interesting (not in a negative way) that none said a thing about the party I'll bring, which I take as a 'All is fine with your choices', yay.

So in the end Heart DOES challege Howl before we'll head down the Ruins? Alright then!~ @Mikaruge108, may I while we wait approach Sprira and ask one, maybe two things that's been interesting Shiva? Nothing that'd need privacy to talk about from my side, and nothing about the Leigh-Spira OTP. ('Leira'? ...Or how does 'Yūrei' sound as a potential name for that forbidden ship??)

Mine definitely is not set yet.  Still have until Heart's stuff is finished to decide, though, so I'm not in any particular rush (yet).  Spirit also still has to decide which Water mon he might borrow from Terra, if any.

This doesn't necessarily require super knowledgeable competitive advice.  None of us really know what's down there in the Ruins' depths, so this is all just semi-educated hypothesizing of what we think might be useful to have down there.  It'd still be nice to have some input from you concerning all of this.

We haven't really discussed your team yet because we're still trying to nail down our own teams. (That, and you also didn't present any possible alternatives to help guide any suggestions we might have). The only advice I really have at the moment is to be careful with overlapping types (Fairy and Water in your current team's case) unless you've sufficiently accounted for those types' weaknesses or the pokemon's strengths make it worth bringing regardless. The Skull Ruins are likely home to more than just Ghost and Psychic types once you reach the lower levels.

If you have any spots that could be flexed to have another party member's pokemon if it seems to be a beneficial thing to do, that would also be beneficial information to have.

If Helios behaves just fine for Terra on Shiva's orders, I'm sure Solomon won't be much different on Nathan's.

Still thinking about this carefully, but the potential help with fielding filler options is definitely helping with narrowing things down.

Okay. Since it's been asked so kindly and totally not because I'm so susceptible to encouragement, I'll update read myself properly and then carefully chip in to give my thoughts about the not-yet set teams. Which is mostly Nathan's if I saw that correctly?

I'll keep myself impartial as best as possible. What I obviously cannot know is which Pokemon of yours you're interested to train up more+bond with more, that's an inportant factor for me at least.

I have definitely no free Slot in my party that can be used to carry a different chara's 'Mon, I'm sorry ._. Every of my Pokemon is there for a reason.

My party mentioned here is to 95% set, I made it up when when we arrived in Elanor already and considered it for a while since then. Friendly adive and thoughts are still welcome though, but please don't be offended if I don't end up following them. I might change my mind last minute also, that happens more often than not.

But since it's been asked, I'll bring up some further candidates I considered (no particular order) :

Fairies are Shiva's speciality among Grass Type, so it's natural for her to have several members of that Type in her party. They're also there to aid Spira against any Spiritomb possibly lurking there, as agreed in-chara. Oh, and to get rid of any pesky dragons and Sableye preventing me from getting loot into my hands.

Here are reasons why I decided for my current party.

Looking at it now, my heart yearns to bring Primal Glaceon instead of Vaporeon. Pro is more coverage thanks to his current Ice Type, the only Con I could think up is that I need to train and bond with her elsewhere. That, uh, shouldn't be too much of any issue though?

Both options is great...but I think I will carry Posei with me during the journey. I already have a gigantic Pokemon to carry in my party who gonna be Quetzel, so having another big pokemon could limit my options in case we get trap in little places. And with Gustav Water Moves, when we get outside of battles, we can heal him with simple Water moves instead of use a Potion or a Heal Pulse. And based in previous experience both in and out of Skull Ruins, this is something very much important.

So Posei will go with me friend if you dont mind.

Thanks for the additional input Phantom.  My turn to respond, then!

More type variety isn't usually a bad thing imo, so swapping Vaporeon for P-Glaceon could definitely be a strong choice.  P-Glaceon can also be just as bulky as Vaporeon thanks to Barrier (and a Leftovers could mimic Aqua Ring), and the more diverse movepool is a big plus over Vaporeon.  Having an Ice type could be very beneficial if we're coming up against Grass (Vines/Tangrowth), Ground (Claydol), and Dragon (possibly deeper down) types.  P-Glaceon could also borrow Nathan's Never Melt Ice for more power.  Definitely more of an offensive than defensive 'mon, though.  Vaporeon is a lot better at defensive support due to Helping Hand access.

Oh, and if you want to get a P-Espeon, you obviously have to bond quite significantly with P-Glaceon, so interacting with them frequently is obviously a must for that goal.

TLDR; Ice type offensive pressure versus Water type defensive support. I'd probably personally go with the former since it's more generally well suited for a variety of situations, but both are decent options.

----------------------------------

Another pokemon I could add to that list is Shiva's Ditto.  Can serve the same purpose as Nathan's, but with much less randomness and a free transformation into Umbreon, so that allows for much more flexibility (including what's essentially immediate access to any of Shiva's pokemon and possibly other group members' as well)

------------------------------------

As for your comments on my mons...well, there are a lot of pokemon I'd like to train with, but there are two that I'd like to squeeze in if possible.

- Emolga: we're looking for Marco now, so that's the main justification for bringing him since that's the big reason he joined Nathan's party in the first place.  Encore and Nuzzle are great moves, so are Acrobatics and Electro Ball if he learns them.  Not worried about Rock types when at least half of Nathan's team has moves SE against them.

- Snivy: the other pokemon who joined to help with Ruins business.  Not as high priority as Emolga since we might not be dealing with the source of the Vines during this trip, though.  Might still be helpful to have in case we encounter the Vines/Tangrowth/Claydol, though.

- And then I'm also considering Solosis since she's basically the only dual screens user in the party atm, and I do want to use her a little more as well.

Windos has offered to take one of Nathan's pokemon on loan, so that means 4 of the filler options can be picked atm.

-----------------------

Any additional thoughts on any of this?
