That's a pretty long list of convincing arguments - proof, lineage, another Dragon type...

Nathan only needs to roll three successes and Seadra will join him, regardless of Will.

(5)(2)(4)(2)(2)(6) (1)(4)

Congratulations! Seadra was caught!
Base HP 6
Sniper
2/2/ before lineage. I don't have my Core Book, can you look up the usual Seadra disobedience and make it one higher?
Bubble, Smokescreen, Bubblebeam, Focus Energy, Agility, Sky Attack, and DIVE

DIVE is a 5 base power move with a semi-invulnerable turn ahead of the attack. It can be used to ride a Pokemon in a bubble of air for hours at a time.

Seadra normally has 0 Disobedience!

*eyes bug out in surprise*

Okay, wow, now I'm REALLY glad I decided to take this encounter.  A couple questions OOC now:

- Is Seadra still a pure Water type, just with the ability to use Sky Attack thanks to those large, wing like fins?

- And I take it they're able to be used on land for short periods of time thanks to their ability to fly?

- Is that Power Herb still usable?

- I assume DIVE needs a suitably deep body of water to be usable in a battle at all, yes?  Or does it work in some other way?

Another question for Seadra now.  "...where and how did you learn how to use DIVE?  Not many pokemon in this day and age know that move...was it down here that you learned it?  Or is it just a move you've always known, similar to another pokemon of mine?"

Yeah, pure Water. Sky Attack will NOT be STAB. Seadra works just fine on land, just needs to keep itself damp.
The Power Herb didn't get used so it's still a valid Held Item.
Dive can actually summon some water to hide in if you have a depression of some kind nearby - the power of a Hidden Machine move.

Seadra points to the west, aboveground. Not down here, but not a move it's always known.

Regardless of the perils and risk proceeding the Helm, Terra would without hesitation and with a great deal of seriousness request the knightly insect lead him to the Helm, promising on his own honor that they'll be taught ROCK SMASH if they do. He'd ask them if they could accompany him to meet the rest of his companions so that Nathan could teach him the Legendary Move and lead them all to it (if possible - safety in numbers, after all), and prior to that he'd get Solomon to use Heal Pulse on them to patch them up a bit from their duel with Mikey. A Potion would also be used if Heal Pulse can't get the full metal punch buggy over 1/2 HP. Can't have their noble guide get waylaid by traps or baddies along the way, right?

Just to set up the scene (Should Escavalier agree to follow Terra), the sagely monk would approach Nathan with his new friend, gesture to them (The Esac.) and bluntly inform him "Bug Knight knows way to Helm. Will lead us to it if you teach them ROCK SMASH. Can you?"

okay, this might be a little cruel: Spira picks up (provided he can, if not, he drags) the Oversized Chimecho to the trapdoor and presses its suction cup on the door and tugs on the Chimecho by the tail. If that doesn't do anything he'll begrudgingly give up and rejoin the group, telling them about the trapdoor. But first, Pokeball (1925) will be used on the Chimecho. 2 maximum, if they both fail, he'll leave it there, putting out its burn first.

Okay, and how many other characters can a single use of DIVE simultaneously support underwater?

Nathan ponders what Seadra means by that for a moment, then nods.  Well, this is certainly surprising news...

"Well then, welcome to the team, Seadra.  I'll definitely be calling upon you later."

One pokeball for Seadra, and they'll be sent to the PC for the time being!

Nathan pulls the Sword out of the ground and looks to Kelda.  "...so, tell me, Kelda.  What would you have done in that situation?  Call me curious."

(Thunder loves frozen bananas). Shiva feels Lunapup will never be unfearful of a trainer or bigger Pokemon, no matter how long you linger near Lunapup's home.

Wasn't even aware that dogs can eat bananas until I read it up now out of curiosity.

All in all, that feels like a partial success for Shiva, and it causes her to go 'Awwwwcute!~' At least this moondoggo didn't back off in more fear towards Yena, which was a real risk she herself feared. Lucky that this is not the case!

She calls Yena back to her side, petting and ruffling his black neck fur as well as gifting a fond hug around his strong neck as he licks over her cheek. But, she does not recall him, not yet, but she prevents him from approaching Lunapup. "Enjoyed the Berry, did you? That's dear and cute! How about another snack?~" She offers her last batch of Gourmet Food to them, obviously not from her hand: She puts it on a plate and carefully pushes it as close to Lunapup as she can. "This is food we're having uuuuup there at the surface *she points up to the ceiling*, it's freely available almost everywhere. How do you like it, is it good?~ What do you usually feed on down here?"

Assuming they nom on the flakes and doesn't flee afterwards, Shiva drops more words. Her body language and voice suggest sadness, compassion, interest. "....I don't have any Pokemon with me that are your size, dear one, forgive me for that. I would...show you if I could, but you're the guardian dog of this place, so I can't nor want to lure you into leaving this position. That'd be mean and selfish. Instead...." She takes a deep breath and sports an alluring smile, "....let us negotiate, shall we?~ I don't want to take your treasures. They're yours. What I'd like to do though, is trading with you as I've got some nice treasures myself! I feel some could be of your liking for sure! Curious? (・ω<)☆"

She waits to see how Lunapup reacts to this before stating that she's on the look-out for something particular down here.

Heal Pulse: (3)(6)(1)(6)(6) This brings him to 5/11hp. There will indeed be traps, according to Escavalier.

Haha nope, no result. You think the solution must have something to do with that insignia, but it's not necessarily something you recognize right now.

Pokeball: (4)(1) v (3)(3)(3)(4)(2)(4) Ball breaks
(3)(5) v (2)(6)(5)(5)(1)(2) The second ball breaks too, so you extinguish the burn and move on.

DIVE can only support one human, so you'll need more DIVE mons if you want the party to go questing.

"A flying Seadra? That could sure be useful. But, I don't have any noble ancestry. Just a few witches on my mother's side. So I did know about the Violet Tent, actually. But it's so easy to capture an unconscious Pokemon, so yeah I'd just knock the Seadra out and capture it. I'm sure it could fuel some amazing spells."

Lunapup is feeling full already; it takes only a nibble of Gourmet Food.

Lunapup crouches down to allow you to see some of its treasures - you can see through the doorway a glowing Eye emblazoned on the inner wall of its doghouse. You can see some shiny swirling Mega Stones, a dried mushroom with pleasant colors, a shard of clay, a few metal figurines that have been chewed like dog toys, and the bones of giant Pokemon.

"...it is easy to capture an unconscious pokemon, yes, but what of the pokemon's desires?  It would certainly earn you no favors with them, and they certainly wouldn't feel any obligation to protect you if need be.  And I don't think Seadra would have felt inclined to tell me about where they learned DIVE if I had fought them."

Nathan sighs.

"...have you ever properly talked with your pokemon in the rare instances they're not contained in their pokeballs, Kelda?  And...there's something else that's been on my mind.  How many of those pokemon actually belong to you personally?  Again, call me curious, but I do have good reason to ask."
