[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
Wait...I had a Idea! @Iron, If I teach Gustav the Move Dark Pulse via TM, I could upgrade via surprise XP like Terra did with Fissure?

If you have enough XP you can upgrade anything.

I upgraded Stone Edge, not Fissure (Though upgrading Fissure would probably be a swell idea at some point, after I get Genie another Surprise!) . And yeah, like Iron said, the sky's the limit when it comes to Pokemon Surprises! if you have a ton of XP and the ideas to spend it on. Player Character Surprises, on the other hand.....well, I don't think they properly exist, unless we count Bloodline , More Than Human , and Fire/Steel Blessing traits as such. Maybe human characters can only get Surprises! through special events, or something, as I can't really see much use/reason for Iron to let us spend XP for them, seeing as how they like to keep humans firmly on the lower end of the power-scale in Pokerole .

I'd definitely scale a human surprise accordingly.

You know, speaking of Pokemon Surprises!, I'm curious to know if it's possible for one of our (Players) Pokemon to ever get a Surprise! that would effectively turn them into pseudo Legends like Primal Arcanine and Lurantis via ludicrous XP expenditure, or if that's either firmly impossible outside of events or diceless post game shenanigans (Where such power is less important). Either that, or if they could get a degree of the same Plot Armor as they do, or upgrade certain Moves of their's to the point they start dealing PD Damage or something nearly as devastating (Like ignore the target's Defense, multiplying final damage, or something) .

Ain't really looking to becoming that powerful yet, though. The power level my character sits is just fine for now, and I don't feel the need to try and grasp at Legend Teir Power until it comes high time to fight the Elite Four and Bo. Being overpowered just ruins a game unless you're facing threats that require it, or you're in a game state/mode that encourages you to exploit and have fun with being overpowered, as one of the greatest part of the fun with any game is the challenge in it and overcoming it, and the progression you make towards your given goals. Right, mates?

Plus, I already have a Legend Tier Power in the form of Arete that just need a few mods to become truly terrifying. I do so love having a Legendary Pokemon, even if they're a bit of an XP sink for now.

That's theoretically possible and there are some Pokemon like that in Creshire lore, but it took them millennia to reach that status.

Champion Bo is also rumored to have a measure of that, and he's only 50 years old.

If that's the case, then now I'm wondering how they lived long enough in the first place to become Primals/pseudo Legends. Maybe they got an Immortality or extreme longevity Surprise! or something in order to reach that deific point, like what AZ got forced onto himself? Whatever the case, it's unlikely that any of our Pokemon is getting on their level anytime soon, so I guess that answers my questions.

Well, ain't that something. I'd like to hear what his story was all about after the campaign is finished, if only to understand how he got to the point of being partly Legendary himself.

How much XP I need to upgrade Dark Pulse? This could make a difference in the battle against Deoxys. Dark Pulse is powerful, but the problem is Dark Pulse can only hit random targets. If I could find a way to hit multiple targets or hit one target without having to worry in randomness....

Also @Lord Windos you didn't say anything about my last post about my final line up of party.

Dark Pulse is an expensive upgrade because it flinches and you'd be negating the random foe thing. 40XP.

Note: If you're facing a single opponent, the random aspect that pokerole added doesn't matter at all.
