With the biggest dangers of the stampede dealt with (Lucas dealt with Machoke since nobody needed his help), all the weaker pokemon scatter. The start of the route is once again quiet.
"...well then, that was exciting. Everyone okay?"
Presumably, everyone says they are, as miraculously, nobody got hurt at all during that set of encounters! Well, except the wild pokemon, but those that were will have plenty of time to recover in the PC or in hiding.
Lucas notices that something's still bothering Karen, though.
"...is something the matter, Karen?"
"...well...I can't help but shake the feeling that the stampede was...running from something...I talked to that Glalie, and..."
"...wait, you talked to the Glalie?"
"Yeah, I did. They were actually really nice! And they seemed scared...they didn't feel safe, staying here, but they didn't want to be around humans for some reason, either...at least, that's the impression I got...I think they might have been running from whatever was causing that weird wind earlier..."
Lucas thinks about that carefully. "...weird wind...I wonder if it would have become a snowstorm if it had stuck around Snowpoint longer...well, let's proceed with caution. Keep a careful eye on the wind speed, everyone. I doubt that little gale we saw earlier was natural if it's spooked the wild pokemon. Let's look around a little instead of cutting straight through the Route. Maybe whatever caused that wind is still nearby. And I definitely don't fancy getting caught off guard by it, whatever it is."
Results of Karen's encounter: she successfully managed to convince Glalie that she didn't want to fight it, asked it some questions about what happened, and then it left since it didn't want to join a pokemon trainer for some reason. Karen gained 8 exp for her daring act.
Route 217 Part 2
- The Haunted(?) House
Cap: 1
The empty house that Lucas mentioned he got a Spell Tag from. Looks abandoned, but Lucas is adamant he met an elderly lady there. It's located near the Frozen Rock. Get an item, maybe? Find proof of paranormal activity? There doesn't seem to be much here, but maybe there's more to it than meets the eye...there's definitely nothing there if more than one person enters it, though.
(...)
Randolph rubbed his beard at the ultra ace trainer's warning, scowling to himself and looking quite disgruntled with the news.
".....Of course it wasn't. Doubt the reason anything that'll come mossy on by to give us hell frozen over is going to be so simple and innocuous a them being cranky we're trespassing in their territory. *Shakes head and sighs* Honestly laf, I just want to get this terrible job over and done faster than a Jolteon on a sugar rush, but if ya saying we should comb through the area for some foul weather fiend, I'll follow your prerogative....."
He then turns to his battle maidens Amethyst and Catherine and gathers their opinions and/or Insights on this development.
"Amethyst, Catherine, ya see or feel anything responsible for the weird wind 'round here and setting the locals on edge, like a bunch of Voltorb popping up does to miners in the shafts?"
(AKA: Amethyst use Future Sight/Danger Sense, and Catherine will try to use her Forewarn Ability to suss out more details along with her partner!)
(...)
When Ran spots the Haunted House nestled in the huge snowfields of this Route, an odd look of disgruntled interested passed across his face before he let out a small *sigh* and shook his head.
".....I should KNOW better to buy into silly superstitions or investigate them to see if they actually have a Sunkern of truth, but after the lad brought it up and with all this supernatural Tauros shit flying, I can't leave this well enough alone, now can I? Not if it holds any clues to what's been happening 'round here or everywhere. *Sighs* Welp, off to root around in the old abandon house that's sure not to cause me any fright or trouble. If I'm lucky. Bah....."
And with that sourly said, the wee man went off to look around the Haunted(?) House!
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

Three random trainers to choose from for Kogeki. Skiers/Snowboarders are common, Ace Trainers are uncommon, and Other Trainers are rare. Ace Trainers also scale their difficulty differently, and are always at least Moderate.
1. Trainer #1
(5) Ace Trainer Jacob
(4) Hard
2. Trainer #2
(1) Skier Melinda
(1) Easy
3. Trainer #3
(6) Ninja Girl Cassidy
(5) Moderate
If he wants to do a double battle, two of these trainers spot him simultaneously!
Heal Pulse on Shenzi (Shenzi isn't growling at Ralts, so Ralts will do it even though she's a little hesitant at first)
(5)(4)(3)(5)(3)(5)(6)(5)(3) That's a critical Basic Heal. +2 Recovery Dice
(3)(1)(4)(6)(3)(4) Shenzi recovers 3 HP

Karen will join Kee at the isolated house.
When Kee knocks on the door, he and Karen hear a loud CRAAAAASH!!! There's some loud explicatives, and a hiker opens the door 5 minutes later. "Yes? Can I help you?"

Amethyst uses Future Sight, and she doesn't stop staring in the direction of the haunted(?) house and the Frozen Rock. She doesn't run off this time.
Catherine doesn't seem worried about anything in particular right now. Every time the wind picks up, though, she shudders. (Thinking about it, Forewarn should have triggered against Medicham, too)
When Randolph investigates the area around the haunted(?) house...
*rolls*
He doesn't notice anything out of the ordinary. It looks like an ordinary, abandoned house that's nestled into the snowfields. Some of the windows are broken, the roof could probably use some repairs...the front door looks fine, though, and is currently shut. Amethyst is standing by it.

Kogeki said to the Ninja girl. He see the Ace trainer. "I kinda want to test the power of my Pokemon, so how about a double battle against both of you?"
I want to challenge Ace Trainer Jacob and Ninja Girl Cassidy. It is the first time Kogeki meet another ninja outside of Tsukinami! Besides, this is a interesting kind of double battle to go against.

Well, if nothing else, his feminine partners confirms something's kooky and/or ominous is happening in the area, which only earns a irritated shake of his head and a small *Sigh* before giving them hopefully comforting pats and trudges onwards to the abandoned house. Yeap, something's suspect is going on alright like he assumed with resigned dread and distaste, and it looks like its up to him to start putting the pieces together on what it is again. Needless to say, he doesn't like doing so at all, but by Pixies it was his job and literally sacred obligation to get to the bottem of this Horsea-shit mystery, so he must and will, or curse his hands with crippling arthritis!

Since searching the house's perimeter didn't yield much in the way of clues/ interesting stuff, Ran lets out a resigned *Sigh....* as he stares at the front door with deadpan displeasure.
".....I've to enter this derelict place if I'm going to get any worthwhile investigating done, huh? Oh, wie perfekt und grandios schwellen."
Translation: Oh, how perfectly and terrifically swell.
He lets out another small *sigh* before turning to his white crusader, motioning to the entrance.
"Amethyst, ya think I should let myself in, or just sod this whole business and leave whatever is haunting this place to its own devices, if their is anything spooky and kooky going on here? Nod ya head yes if I should enter, or no if I shouldn't. *Stroaks his beard* Or should I burn the place down instead and deal with it that way? Place is old and abandoned, so nobody would miss it if went up in flames, and Brigid's Inferno should do a fine job of exorcising whatever spiritual beings lurk here if there are any. Wouldn't have to step into a haunted domain too and subject myself to its whims, and I can just shift through the ashes later for clues or uncombusted nick-knack if we stick around long....."

Oh, Karen's coming too? Kee seems delighted over this and ruffles her hair in a playful manner just because it's fun. Octavia rubs her cheek against her leg like a cat would do if leaving one's scent on a person.
Towards the hiker that opens, Kee's unimpressed and sceptic. "Ah yes, you can help. First, by telling whether you're okay, cuz it sounded like somethin' BIG was rampaging inside." That crashing sound - did it sound like the same crashing sound that occured here, just before the wild Pokemon went mad? "Second, by answerin' whether you're living at this semi-creepy isolated house in the middl' of a snowy Route 'n whether we may come in to get away from that freezin' cold for just a littl'." But only if Karen does not feel any hostility from this place.

Definitely not the same sound. This one was more metallic sounding. Pots and pans if Kee had to guess. The previous crash was presumably caused by Ursaring knocking a tree over.
"Oh, uh...yes, I'm fine. 'Preciate you askin'. And yes, this is my home! Come in, come in! Always have room for visitors! Don't really get many out here."
Karen finds the man a little strange, but shrugs and doesn't dawdle with going inside. Seems to be okay.
-------------------------------------------------
The home is a quaint, rustic place. A few shelves dot the walls here and there with decorative rocks, a fireplace roars on one side of the abode, an unmade bed is sitting in one corner, a table that's covered in all manner of things (plates, utensils, a backpack, various maps...), a shelf near the stove that looks like it was knocked over, lots of metal pots and pans scattered on the floor near a step ladder and said shelf...
...actually, on second thought, this place is better described as 'a mess'.
The hiker laughs nervously. "Sorry 'bout the clutter. Don't usually have time to tidy up when I get visitors, ya see. Have a seat! I'll get some hot coffee going on the stove. So, what brings ya'll out to this frozen wasteland?"

Amethyst looks appalled at the thought of burning the place down, and promptly nods.

I want to challenge Ace Trainer Jacob and Ninja Girl Cassidy. It is the first time Kogeki meet another ninja outside of Tsukinami! Besides, this is a interesting kind of double battle to go against.
Stealth: (5)(5)(5)(4)(4)(1)(1)(4)(2) 5 successes
Alert: (6)(5)(2)(3)(1)(6)(5)(5)(6) 6 successes
Ninja Girl Cassidy failed her stealth check, so that's exactly what happens! She emerges from the pile of snow she was hiding in, looking a little disappointed in herself. "Aw man, I was soooo hoping that was going to work." She looks to be about 10 years old.
I found some fan art of a (Gen 3 style) ninja girl, by the way!
Ace Trainer Jacob walks up at the same time that Cassidy spots Kogeki. He's got that look in his eyes that all pokemon trainers tend to have when they spot another on the road: that look that means it's time for a battle! "...well, how about it, ninja girl? He looks tough. I'd be down for a challenge."
Cassidy: "...mmmm...okay, I guess...I hope you're ready to face my sneaky ninja techniques, mister!"
Jacob and Cassidy will each use two pokemon.
