[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
(02-04-2020, 12:43 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote: Blubelrog sloooowwwwwly stands up in its little body of water when Kogeki approaches.  It motions for Kogeki to shoo, but when the ninja doesn't and summons pokemon instead, the frog starts croaking aggressively.

Blubelrog Round 1 Initiatives
Nami: (6) + 11 = 17
Blubelrog: (6) + 11 = 17
Gama: (2) + 10 = 12

"Nami, you know the drill. Put that frog to sleep with Hypnosis! Then go with Hidden Power Ghost and Telekinesis! And in case things get danger, use Recover (yes, Recover, she have that move I buy via XP a time ago and forgot she had such move).

"Gama. Use Gunk Shot, Nightslash and Quick Attack! Show that frog who is the most poisoning frog around here!"

Hypnosis: Insight(3)+Contest(3)+Allure(3)-Accuracy(4)-Action(2)=4D6+Will Point!
Effect: Put Target to sleep.

Hidden Power Ghost: Cute(4)+Contest(3)+Allure(3)-Actions(4)=6D6
Damage: Power(3)+Special(3)+STAB(1)=7D6
Effect: Target become infatuete toward user.

Telekinesis: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Channel(3)-Actions(6)=3D6
Effect: Make target float. Become invunerable to Ground moves but it can now hit by everything.

Gunk Shot: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Channel(3)-Acc(4)-Actions(2)=4D6
Damage: Power(4)+STR(3)+STAB(1)-NE(1)=8D6-1
Effect: D3 to poison. It is possible to poison a Poison-type Pokemon?

Nightslash: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Brawl(3)-Actions(4)=6D6
Damage: Power(3)+STR(3)+STAB(1)=7D6
Effect: Hight Critical. Lethal (Hold).

Quick Attack: Dex(3)+Fight(3)+Brawl(3)-Actions(6)=4D6
Damage: Power(2)+STR(3)+STAB(1)=6D6
Effect: Priority Move.

Notes: Nami is holding Quick Claw, since it still dangerous to use Mega Evolution with her. And Gama is holding Shell Bell to give him some sort of healing chances.

Blubelrog Round 1

That Quick Claw is also the only reason Nami is going first!  And she's dang well going to exploit that fact, too!

Hypnosis 1
(6)(4)(1)(3)(6*) Spend that Will Point!
Bulbelrog falls Asleep!

...zzzzz...

Wake Up 1
(4)(1)(4)(5)(2)(5) 4/5

Using Poison on Poison?  Gama gives Kogeki a questioning look, but okay...

Gunk Shot 1
(3)(5)(5)(3)(5) Gama became Poison type!
(6)(6)(2)(1)(1) No damage to Blubelrog
(-)(-)(-) Poison types cannot be Poisoned unless the Poison user has some kind of effect active that allows them to ignore that natural Immunity

Nami summons her inner power to try and coerce this frog into being less aggressive.

Hidden Power Ghost
(6)(4)(6)(3)(4)(2)
(4) Blubelrog takes 1 damage 9/10 HP
50/50 chance of Infatuation working in this encounter.
(1) It's a female Blubelrog, so the effect does not work, sadly.

Wake Up 2
(5)(6)(2)(4)(5)(3) 8/5
Blubelrog wakes up!

Less Poison, more slashing!  Gama's really getting to strut his stuff here, as Blubelrog are surprisingly beefy Special pokemon, but much weaker Physically.

Night Slash 2
(5)(3)(1)(3)(3) Gama became Dark type!
(4)(5)(1) Blubelrog takes 3 damage! 6/10 HP -1 Pain

And it doesn't take long for Gama to follow up, either!  His quick, physical blows are leaving much more of an impact than Nami's mystical powers have been!

Quick Attack 3
(4)(5)(6) Gama became Normal type!
(4)(4) Blubelrog takes 2 damage! 4/10 HP -2 Pain

Not that Nami is slouching either.  She casually points at the frog with one of her illusory fins, issuing a simple, psychic command.  Float.  Now.

Telekinesis 3
(5)(2)(2) Blubelrog begins floating!

The fat frog doesn't seem to like that, and strikes at the supposed fish with a powerful move that causes its black aura to flare into existence.

Shadow Toxin 3
3 Dex + 4 Fight + 4 Channel - 6 - 2 = 3
(6)(3)(6)
3 Pow + 5 Spe + SS - 3 + SE = 6 D6 + 1
(6)(2)(3)(2)(3)(6) Nami takes 3 damage, and her Illusion is dispelled! 5/8 HP -1 Pain
(5)(2)(2)

And now that Blubelrog can see that its opponents are both vulnerable to another one of its powerful techniques, it doesn't hesitate to use that one, either!

Sludge Wave 4
(5)
3 + 5 + STAB - 3 = 6 D6 (-1 on Nami)
(6)(3)(2)(4)(1)(5)
(1)
(3)
Nami takes 2 damage! 3/8 HP -2 Pain
Gama takes 3 damage! 5/8 HP -1 Pain

With all this Poison being flung around the battlefield, it seems to be polluting the water that Blubelrog is standing in.  Not that the frog seems to care.

A dark light rains down from above!
Nami takes 1 damage 2/8 HP -2 Pain
Gama takes 1 damage 4/8 HP -2 Pain

The scuffy smith could at grimace as the Shadow Rhyperior nearly tore through everyone's partner with that horrendous non-stop Shadow onslaught, making him quite crossly think to himself 'When did that Tauros shit supernatural mystery force start giving Pokemon fucking gattling gun capabilities, and why, god fucking damnit!?! At the very least it looks like using it leave'm wide open, but why why WHY?!?!?! '

His sea sprites cough - strangled attempt to Sing distract him from further ire, instead leading him down the path of worry and none-to-mild concern for her.

'Gah.....Paula's starting to flag after all frantic Fights against Shadow Pokemon I put her through. Gottverdammt, I knew I should've forced her to rest, instead of keep pushing her....! '

Karen's apologetic declaration earns her a somewhat shocked expression from the dwarven craftsman as he snapped his attention over to her, follow up with a unpleasant scowl that implied he was again reconsidering his opinion on her as a Trainer.

"WHAT?! WHY NOT?! Grass-types are renowned for their Status and Powder Moves, and Roserades are among the best of them, so why didn't ya invest in at least one of them?! *Looks back to the Fight* Grrragh, no time for that, but in the future do yourself and them a favor and teach them one for situations like these, alright?!"

Fortunately, his smol siren and the wee lass' partners were able to bring the rocky behemoth almost to its knee with their own sheer firepower, but unfortunately that didn't prevent it from preparing to unleash what he assumes to be Earthquake, Stone Edge, or Bulldoze, judging by its posture and Karen's alarm with it. To further compound his woes, it appeared he was 100% correct in his assumptions about Paula, for her Moves were yet again stifled by a coughing fit. The mini-group's prospects for this battle were rapidly looking grimmer than a Dusknoir rushing to meet its soul quota, and if he didn't do something[/i to change them they all probably be making one of those Ghost's day, if you get what I mean.

If nothing else, though, Ran had a mind shrew as an Alakazam's that worked well under pressure of all kinds, and was quickly able to form a plan that just might save everyone bacon, shouting it out to Karen with all due haste!

"KAREN, RETURN YA MAGNEZONE OR BOTH YOUR PARTNERS, AND IF YA GOT ANY POKEMON WITH PRIORITY MOVES, SWITCH THEM OUT IN THERE PLACE TO USE IT AGAINST THAT BEAST! ESPECIALLY IF ONE OF THEM HAS FAKE OUT
! I'LL BE DOING THE SAME, SO GET YOUR POKEMON READY TO KO THIS MONSTER ASAP, OR IT'LL ROCK OUR WORLD AND SEND US STRAIGHT TO THE NEXT ONE!"

Order: Regardless of what Karen ends up doing, Ran's going to switch out Paula for Boreas and Amethyst, and have the former use Ice and Needle Arm against S. Rhyperior in that order (or reverse, if they get to act before it does), and Amethyst will use Sucker Punch and then Bite against it (Or Bite and Assurance if it gets to hurt them before it can fire off its attack) . Nothing more need be said, because if they're about to use a AoE Move or something similarly nasty, no amount of Evading or Healing Items will make things better for the good guys of the Fight, so let's finish it in one rapid go now.

Moves:

Ice Shard
Accuracy: DEX (3) + Fight (3) + Channel (3) - 2 Actions = 7D6 Dice
Damage: STR (3) + 2 + STAB + SE= 6D6 + 1 Base Damage
Effect: *Priority 1*

Needle Arm
Accuracy: 5D6 Base Dice
Damage: 7D6 + 2 Base Damage
Effect: *Flinch 3*

Sucker Punch
Accuracy: Same as I.S.
Damage: 7D6 Base Damage
Effect: *Priority 1 [At least]* , Fails if user goes after Target or if Target uses a Support Move/Does Nothing instead of an Attack Move

Bite
Accuracy: Same as N.A.
Damage: 6D6 Base Damage
Effect: *Flinch 3*

Karen does indeed immediately recall Magnezone, as she fears some kind of powerful Ground type move is incoming!

"Ahhhh...didn't bring any pokemon with Priority...wait!  I have an idea!  Lotus, I need you to trust me on this if things go sour, okay?"

Lotus hesitates, knowing she can't really take a solid hit from this Rhyperior, but she nods.  She trusts Karen.

Initiatives
Amethyst: (3) + 10 = 13
Rhyperior: 13
Boreas: (3) + 9 = 12
Lotus: 8

L: (6)(2)(3)
D: (6)(3)(1)(1) Amethyst almost panics when she sees what Rhyperior is about to do, but some assurances from Randolph help keep her calm and focused.

Boreas, by contrast, doesn't seem to be phased very much by the severely weakened Rhyperior.

Ice Shard 1
(3)(5)(4)(2)(2)(3)(3)
(5) Rhyperior takes 2 damage! 1/14 HP -3 Pain

Amethyst charges in to avert disaster!  Tough, rocky hide or no, she's going to bring this beast down!

Bite 1
(5)(4)(5)(2)(5)(4)(1) Crit!
(4)(4)(1) Rhyperior takes 2 damage and faints!

Every pokemon that participated gets 2 exp, and Karen and Randolph both get 5.

As Rhyperior slams into the ground face first, Karen and Lotus simultaneously let out a sigh of relief.  "...that was way too close...phew..."

Lotus then turns to Randolph, rose on her hip as she gives Randolph a very unamused, narrow eyed look.  "Yeah, so...Lotus has never really seemed to be all that interested in learning those kinds of status moves, to be perfectly honest.  She's always been more of a straightforward kinda Grass type, if that makes any sense.  I tried to teach her Grass Whistle once, but...well, let's just say it didn't go very well.  She's put a lot of effort into learning other moves that give her a strong advantage in battle, though!  Draining moves are her favorite! And she seemed to like the TMs for Sunny Day and Rain Dance that I taught her, too!  Just need to find a good time to use them in conjunction with Weather Ball..."

Karen then looks at Randolph curiously and innocently asks,  "...so, I've been meaning to ask...is everything okay, Randolph?  You've seemed rather stressed ever since we left Snowpoint, and...well, I can tell something's been on your mind since we defeated that Froslass...I didn't really want to bring it up in front of the others, though..."

"Rrrrrr.....then I hope whatever you have planned with your Roserade turns up as pretty as they are! Amethyst, Boreas, ATTACK!"

Ran almost panics himself when he sees his ivory guardian nearly lose herself to fear, but quickly breaths out a HUGE and explosive *SIIIIGH* of purest relief with Karen and her parnter as she (Amethyst) steadied herself and mauled the Shadow Rhyperior into unconsciousness, which was immediately followed by their Shadow Aura to burst out of them and dissipate into the inky Shadow Sky above. He was quick to walk forward and give both his living christmas tree and Dark prophet and solid pat on their back/leg and strained (from the battle) smile.

"By Heatran's molten power, I'm grateful you two sorted that Rhyperior out when ya did! Otherwise, we might all have ended up buried and dead!"

Once he's done congratulating them, he returns them and goes over to see the bi-chromatic eyed girl and her walking rose bouquet to speak with them more about the later's certain deficiency , but they pre-empted him with her explanation for it. Despite it and Lotus' marked displeasure with his earlier suggestion, he still goes through with his plan to talk about it, turning towards Lotus and shares a gaze that is simple, neutral, but serious.

"You should have forced her to learn at least one anyway, lass. Damage is good, and any form of health recovery is valuable in its own right, but the right Status Move can mean the difference between victory or defeat if used properly. Or in cases like our battle against that Rhyperior, life or death. If Lotus could've put that beast to Sleep with Grass Whistle or Sleep Powder, it wouldn't have threatened to demolish us with whatever move it had prepared, and Paralysis from Stun Spore would've made our options for taking it out before it could level the battlefield a whole lot more broad and lenient. To put it another way, what you're doing *Points to Lotus* is like choosing only to carry a hammer around instead of a toolbox. A hammer is great at beating all sorts of things in or out, but it ain't good at doing everything, unlike some fools might think. A toolbox can't help ya do everything either....but it can at least see you more prepared for the problems life will shove your way. And trust me when I say this....but you'll want to be prepared as possible. For life.....life can be a cruel bastard sometimes.""

He closes his eyes as he finished his small lecture, a rare moment of vulnerability and pain flashing across his face that made him seem every bit of the aging man her was, before it clears away as he looks over to the young prodegy when she starts asking him about himself. That causes his posture to become immediately guarded and agitated, his eyes narrowing and his expression shifting into one of distinct anger, looking primed and ready to explode in fury at the innocent lass.

But at the last moment he remembers who's he speaking to, a young, demure, and sensitive adolescent girl barely past the start of her puberty, and all her acts of kindness and generosity - her most recent one going out to him, and stops himself with a visible jerk backwards as he closed his eyes somewhat slowly shook his head to forestall his gut temper reaction. He took several DEEP breaths and let them out quick bursts until most of his previous anger drained out of his and his face returned to its previous pale complexion. When that happened, the bristly blacksmith looked at Karen again, his gaze still holding some remenants of his previous fiery indignation, but was now filled with resigned, tired discontent at....well, just about everything, but notably not her, all of which was reflected in his low but quiet tone of voice.

"....Didn't ya mama ever tell ya not to dig into other people's business, lass? Especially with someone as....Moody and with a hair trigger temper like me? *Heavy Sighing* ....But if you really want to know no. No, I'm bloody well not okay. I haven't been okay once I realized how bad this goddamn Darkai awful job IS that I was hired for, and I've been rightfully upset ever since that old bastard Rowan *Growls* all but gang-pressed, deceived, manipulated, and mislead me to continue working it  against my better judgement that I and everyone else but the Champion are vastly under-qualified and under-prepared for. Most of all, though, hatehate the responsibility the Pixies and my duty toward my fellow man have burdened me with, and I'm afraid - no, I know I ain't cut out for handling it, but have to keep pressing on anyway until I fulfill them, or otherwise die and possibly doom the entire region, probably the whole world and all realities, and definitely myself.

*Closes eyes, and Sighs**

"I've had to deal with these feelings everyday constructively as I can manage, and it hasn't boded well for my already elevated temper and stress levels. Every night I've contemplated just damning it all and break my word and quit anyway, and leave this rotten, impossible mission behind, but I grit my teeth and ignore that urge. So far I haven't been doing a good job with myself, but it's enough to keep me going without wanting to strangle everyone or everything in unbridled anger at the lot of life I'm stuck in now. Just....enough. You asking about it all, bringing it all to the surface instead of pushed back in the corner of my mind....it's not helping. At all. *Stressed Sighing* ...But I understand you mean no harm by it or know I prefer not sharing my privacy, so I'm trying not to Bite your head off for it and give ya what you wanted. *More Stressed Sighing* Hopefully....hopefully I've succeeded."

"As for that Frosslass....that's a personal matter between me, Lucas, and Sally, lass, and I would like if you respect that and didn't ask me anymore about it. That's all I will say about it for now."

Ran finishes his mild but unhappy speech by covering his face with head, and subconsciously leaning back onto the leg of Amethyst who was standing right next to him, who was probably looking pretty concerned about her master's emotion state of being right about now. Boreas....well, I guess he probably wouldn't care too much, and be much more interested in chatting up that Roserade of that little girls to pass the time.

Lapras is mostly brought closer by the promise of food.  They don't hesitate to snap the snack out of Kee's hands, and they're busily munching away while Kee's speculating about what life must be like up here for a creature Lapras's size.

Lapras nods in response to Kee's second question, then goes back to munching on the food.

Ahahaha how adorable this Lapras is at they are munching away on the nori-sheets Kee's providing. He's quick to offer some more once they've eaten up and noms one himself, and even carefully and gently pets the Lapras' head as they eat in an attempt to comfort them just a little. "Shit, so ya're tha SECOND 'Mon I come 'cross that's been magic'd to this place against their will.... You poor one." he sadly tells them. Empathic how a Lapras usually is, they can surely feel that this weird young man here strongly feels for them.

"Well, well... Now listen, somethin' similar if not the SAME has happened to me, 'nd I have not the slightest idea whether it'd been an unlucky coincidence or on purpose, though I DO s'pect the latter." *more hugs for the Lapras's head as Kee gives them an encouraging smile, which Octavia (who has been sitting on the shoreline the whole time while cleaning herself) mirrors* "Chances are that I'm just on some sorta quest to unroot this mystery. Would ya want to join me 'nd my dearest Sylveon on that? If we find out WHY 'n HOW we ended up here, we might as well find a way to RETURN. Genuine care's assured to ya, 'nd a big and resilient 'Mon like YOU would be quite tha help!~ Please dontcha tell meh ya wanna dwell here evermore, at a smol tarn among snow, ice and a big poisonous frog, or do ya?"

(I think Octavia would faintly pick up Ran's angry outburst and become nervous due to it, but there's nothing she nor Kee can do about that nor do I want to intervene, so I'm just gonna leave it at that.)
