[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
(04-03-2020, 09:44 PM)Lord Windos Wrote:

Nathan tries a more subtle approach to get through to her instead of issuing a direct threat.  "You may bear Sarimanok's name, but that does not mean you need to be the heavy handed tyrant he became.  That's not who he was originally.  Strike at Lumineon, and I'll have no choice but to stop you myself.  I do not wish to do so, but I will.  A tyrant is not looked upon kindly by those they rule, and I am almost certain Terra will have his own concerns as well."

Nathan's faster, especially after she used that Curse, and the Sword makes her increased Defense irrelevant if Nathan chooses to use it.  Sari's unlikely to kill Lumineon before he can subdue her.  Nathan raises the Sword, preparing to carefully strike if Sari does not relent, and a hand goes to one of the pokeballs on his belt as well...

He will not let Sari kill this Lumineon, and he's going to do so without shedding any further blood unnecessarily.

Surprisingly, Sari actually turns back around to face Nathan at that rebuttal, looking at him with both her eyebrows/ridges raised in slight astonishment at the message he's sending. She then thinks it for a few long seconds, before she waves a hand at the young adolescent, patomiming a 'killing' gesture and then shaking her head before turning towards the fined fiend slight and making a chopping motion at it, a slight frown tugging at the corner of her lips as she did so. Given how smart he is, I imagine Nathan could figure out the message the queen sloth was trying to send him: she was not - and did not ever, as a matter of fact - intend to kill the Lumineon as punishment for its transgressions, but still wished to inflict some form of martial discipline upon it. Not enough to permanently threaten its life, but enough to KO it with extreme prejudice, and perhaps leave some mental and physical scarring for all the trouble it caused. While what it did was terrible and very much deserving of her royal judgement, it was not enough for her to deem it worthy of death (or unworthy of continued life, to put it another way) or similarly extremely punishment.

The question now, though, is if that was acceptable to the Sword Wielder, or even that small measure of justice too much for him....?

"I think they're scarred enough, Sari.  They're already dying from their wounds, and I doubt they'll be swimming straight for a long, long time, if ever again.  Any more, and I'm not sure they can be saved."

Yeah, Nathan's not convinced.

"...enough.  Either move, or don't.  There's no time to debate this any further, and I'm not gonna let them die from bleeding out if I can help it."

Nathan's done discussing this.  He knows what he's doing.

At the young hero's blunt and unwavering dismal and continued threats, Sari's expression turns grimly resolved as for a last time she shakes her head, looking them dead in the eyes as her gem starts glowing with mystical power. Even if they attack her with the Sword, she'll still be left with 1 HP and from their be afforded enough time/opportunity to launch an attack on Lumineon and KO it before the inculcate man strike her down. That, and regardless if she succeeds or fails to enact her justice, forcing him to use the power of his Artifact to force her to bow to his Will and run ramshod over her rights like so would essentially make him the metaphorical Tyrant Sarimanok out of the two of them he first claimed her to be (the insolent brat!) . Add on the fact that using his Sword and/or his Pokemon to discipline her will likely not go over well with Terra no matter how much the circumstances may/may not blunt his response and the forcing them to do the very act is in of itself a highly unpleasant course of action for them due to their beliefs.....well, the magnificent monarch effectively becomes the moral and practical victor of this whole debacle they refuse to compromise on.

Her adviser's very life was attacked by that poisonous abomination, and she deserves to enact retribution on it for such a travesty. This upstart has NO RIGHT or good enough reason to interfere and deny them justice, least of all his misguided sense of entitlement of his views over others. If they wish to stop her, then he'll have to do it by force, and make him the villain of this whole affair he tried to make her out to be.

"Both of you...just...just stop. I trying to concentrate here, and this discussion is not helping. Sari, I will try my best to heal Terra, but you could help staying by his side now."

Heart than add another piece. "I also worry about him...a lot. But...you think kill that Lumineon will fix things? It might make you feel better, but than what? It will not makes you better than those who attack us. It will make you even worse for choose go below to the same level as them."

"...With Lumineon I might able to find a cure to Terra wounds and condition. Maybe I can ask Master Chorizo help. He knows a lot about Earthpower, and teach me how to use it. He might know a thing  in how lift this age disease thing."

"Besides...I already see enough death for a lifetime. So please...for Terra sake help me here."

That's what the hand at Nathan's belt is for.  In a flash, Mizu has been summoned, and is between Sari and Lumineon.

"Sari, you're interfering with saving a life.  Stop arguing with me on this and move out of my way.  This is a waste of time for both us and Lumineon."

Sari's answer is the same as it has ever been: a solid, stubborn no. A good deal of Sari's attacks can hit a target without Line of Sight, so Mizu getting in between her and Lumineon is practically a worthless decision beyond attempting to Faint the Shiny sovereign before she can get off an attack. And even if Nathan and his partners succeed in preventing her from getting her justice in one manner, she'll still end up getting it in several other ways as has been previously outlined.

No matter which outcome Nathan ultimately decides, things are not going to proceed how he wishes.

Given that this confrontation between Nathan and Sari is probably happening in the space of less than a minute and Terra's still sorta out of it from being ultra Poisoned/just plain stunned and tensely taken aback by how this whole situation evolved, he's not going to be having any impact until after it happens.

As been stated, Sari is not trying to kill Lumineon, only brutally Faint it and rub salt in its wounds for drastically reducing her loyal servant's life span. A cruel punishment still perhaps, but its a fitting one for the crime it committed in her opinion, and it doesn't prevent it from recovering and living however it wishes afterwards without further reprisals.

So in short: Sari isn't swayed by Heart's request/rational either, simply because it doesn't really make sense to her for reasons that have been revealed and even if she did want to make cutlets out of the finned fiend she wouldn't feel an ounce of regret for doing so, nor feel like it made her any worse than them. She's a glorious queen for Kyorge's sake - The Divine Right of Kings IS hers!

Shiva gets 6XP for achieving a character goal.

"We do create some Vitamins for our own soldiers and their Pokemon. We also sell more of it to the PokeMarts and scientists. This kelp has been growing here since Creshire was first settled, when Garlicburg first rose out of the sea from the lava of a volcano."

They can't give you a vitamin for free, as the process still takes a lot of money. I could give you a 25% discount.

Heart doesn't have time to attempt a cursebreaking while living on the borrowed time of Scuba gear. And you can't draw a sigil on the ocean floor, and any number of other issues.

Nathan captures the Fainted (and possibly tortured?) Lumineon and you move onward, noticing that the spiral stone has changed color from dull reddish to dull blueish.

You sight a little cave, half-hidden in the coral and kelp, and Kingdra looks very excited. There are spikes all around it, as well as a few Oversized Qwilfish. But as you approach, you undergo a very very strange feeling.

...and you are standing back at the spiral rock, just as if you'd circled around again, mazed. It becomes its characteristic red color again as you watch.

Floating far above are the frilled silhouettes again, all twelve of them. The rubble produced by Heart has returned to coral and rock. Your Ultra Ball is empty. Terra is still wheezing. You still feel the aftereffects of the poison and confusion, and your medicinal items got used up.

The only thing that has changed about the battlefield, the only evidence you were ever here before, are a few footprints where Heart raced to Terra's side. They remain.
