[Meta Thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands

Potentially stupid question time because it is obvious, but I'd rather ask and confirm with GM before doing anything wrong or it slipping under the cracks

So, I am currently adding smol dear Spritzee to my charasheet. He has 2 Channel Speciality, as well as 3 Nature Speciality and 1 Allure. That should technically mean he ALSO has 2 Fight (the Skill Channel Spec. belongs to), 1 Contest (the Skill Allure Spec. belongs to) as well 3 Survival (the Skill Nature Spec. belongs to). That's correct, isn't it? HOWEVER, if I now want to raise Allure further, I do have to raise Contest Skill on Spritzee FIRST, right, even if the PC provides the Skill?

>If that however is NOT the case and I can raise Allure directly, ignoring that the Speciality is higher than the Skill (like it's the case with Pseudos aka Zephy for me), then I have to do a bit of recalculating/re-disctributing of XP on Myra and Nirix because when creating these 'Mons I've spent XP to raise their Skills first before raising the Specialities underneath.

On the topic of Galar's Prof:

Seddi and Oz actually had a brief IC conversation about the prof on day 1 because Oz has actually visited Galar and has met that Professor.  Nothing was confirmed OOC and I left any certainty vague because of it, but it miiiiight be Sonia (likely an older woman ala Magnolia) and/or Hop (assuming Neo Unova altering the timeline hasn't changed this much, he was studying to be a Prof under Sonia, and could still be a young man due to having Zacian/Zamazenta as a partner [maybe depending on how the Eternatus situation worked out]).

Remember dear, that a Average Mon uses most of a trainers stats AND their Skills. Skills only matter on the Pseudos, Mythics, and very rare Mon. So DONT level Skills for reg Mons, yeah?

In any case I do allow Specialties to be higher than Skills. I encourage min maxing, it makes sense that a Mon or person maybe be super good at one thing instead of being forcibly well rounded.

Uh…I honestly don’t know myself, since it never was a concern until now. All I can say is Galar is a hyper capitalist hyper society ala The Black City due to fruitful relations with Neo Unova and other stuff, and that society lenders reflects all the way down to researchers. Which means they more akin to Mallorn in attitude (poke poke poke) and not as focused on caring for most Mons like other Professors would.

Not that the new regional Profess couldn’t be like the typical one, but the odds for that are…low. They could still be rather nice people, just less so and more businesses focused to non friends.

Uh uh…yeah, the plot of SwSh never happened. I alluded to this when the big bad selves his plans in the prologue and him becoming best buddies with Neo Unova (and their region too by extension) to tech up their regions together. The Armament Dogs never got involved, the Claw from Hell is still ‘not a problem’ , and Galar as a whole adapted to the new world order more along the chairman’s and Enigma/Human First beliefs. Chairman is still alive and well too due to Plot reasons, while the major figures of SwSh … *Shrugs*

Kalos is also friendly with Neo U, but guardedly so, and their general culture remains from the games. Team Flare still tried to doom the world, so the region got its wake up call, but it ended up being attributed to more an insane mad man than it completely stigmatized Teams and extremist measures.

Oh, in that case I'm VERY glad that I've asked this, as otherwise I would have ventured into battles with slightly wrong stats on my Ninetails and G-Rapidash. I guess I was still in SkullRuins-mindset when originally having distributed Stats on these, where Specialities couldn't be higher than the matching Skill. Expect some changes on their sector soon then, (aka when I'm less tired) as they'll be getting a boost on other Stats for the XP actually spent on their Skills, hooray!

Nah, don't be sorry dear, it's totally fine as I do actually enjoy calm and concentrated work like filling out the sheets and distributing Stats and XP! At some point, I'd also appreciate if you could please add the Magi-Log entry for Spritzee, dear! (doesn't have to be now or soon, at some point does suffice)

Don’t know yet - Filler got now would be Prof. Larch , who is good buddies with Sylvia and Oz, but very business focused and places less priority on researching Pokémon that researching ways to best utilize them in society and tech.

Yes! Papers, ID showing status as I.Mon and Professor Affliate / Researcher Jr. , and pictures of her with the Professor + their international number for emergencies. Also other legal do dads you can make up along the way, but the prior stuff is the main focus.

Don’t know yet - Filler got now would be Prof. Larch , who is good buddies with Sylvia and Oz, but very business focused and places less priority on researching Pokémon that researching ways to best utilize them in society and tech.
