(What are Shiranui's and Basteele's reaction to ROCK SMASH being used, Iron? I would say they would be impressed, but how so?)

Shiranui recognizes it immediately, and looks like he will do anything to learn that move.
Forretress is generally a more stoic Pokemon and it's hard to read its expressions, but those hidden eyes do go wide. And the force of the attack knocks Basteele across the battlefield, even though it didn't deal much damage to Basteele's steely shell.

That doesn't remain unnoticed by Shiva, especially how bulky Forretress does get knocked across the place; and she immediately gets the feeling of having overdone things a little. A stunned expression washing over her later from the sheer FORCE of Rock Smash being displayed here, she bows deeply to the owner of the steely bug in apology. "I'm...well, I'm sorry for that, Terra! Haven't used that move that often yet, I didn't expect it to be so...full of power either. Good that Foretress is partly a Steel Type, so hopefully she doesn't mind it too much?"

Delphox on the other hand gives out a feeling of being completely secure in his powers now after having reached his final form, and with his formerly hidden and dormant psychic power now being awoken he appears calm and concentrated on what Master would ask from him. She is the one who came to his den in Fireweed Forest on that faithful night, little did he (and by then Shiva) know that he'd be standing here now as a fully-fledged fierly and furry mage. He'll do anything for this young woman, follow her orders without question and be there for her to warm her with his inner fire in the most firece sand- or hailstorm - nothing could break the bond between fae enthusiast and magical fox, that's what was silently been stated as the fox took a look over his shoulder towards her, before he gave an encouraging nod to Tropius as the new battle partner ('Let us do well together, grassy sauropode!') which he returned. Giving that big guy who seemed to be Master's opponent in this battle then his two Pokemon a gaze of quiet seriousness and eager, he enlighted his basswood stick to show that he's READY TO SHOW SOME OF HIS MOVES.


Maybe he seems a bit TOO focused though which will allow the two opponent Pokemon to strike first, or he's just courteous.



(If a big Tropius can do that to a heavy Foretress, I can't help but to wonder what a newly-hatched Eevee could do with Rock Smash. ovo )

(Do we have precedent on whether the Sandstorm move keeps lasting after its owner is recalled? Is that only for things like Snow Warning?)

Yup!  Shiva's battle with Zamboni, Round 4.  Sun was present from Rounds 2-5, summoned by Nightshade.  Nightshade was not on the battlefield during Round 4, however, but Sunny Day persisted.  In addition, the book does not say the effects of Weather summoning moves end when their user leaves the battlefield.

Gallade analyzes the situation...he's slower than this Furret. And Furret is holding a Silk Scarf...

Perfect.  That means the ferret has to either predict what's going to happen, or attack blindly.  Conditional evasions aren't going to work.  Hypnosis and Dream Eater aren't common moves on Gallade, either, given how easy it is to evolve Kirlia into Gallade before it ever has a chance to learn them.   Tanuki might be caught off guard here.

"Give 'em what for, Gallade!"  3 Actions, with conditional orders for actions 2 and 3 based on if Furret is asleep or not.

Seeing how her precious fortune teller first staggers, then falls to her knee and has to support herself with her hands after Foretress nimbled on her once more is causing Shiva almost real physical pain, visible by her hand automatically darting to the heart and flinching on the spot. Gothy gets recalled as swiftly as possible into the safety of her painted Premier Ball, the Ball gets hugged a little and the inhabitant of it receives some whispered words of praise only audible/senseable for her before packing it away; as coy and shy Shiva may be she doesn't seem to mind too much showing how she values her own Pokemon in front of people. At least, she feels like Terra wouldn't laugh at her for doing so ._.



Tropius himself doesn't react too much to the fierce glare of Basteele nor that big bulky Fighting Type chuckling, he just keeps loooking down at them from above as if to silently mock the former that the nasty spikes do nothing to him, hah!

She grows meek again and shuffles her feef again upon being critizided for the usage, but knows that Terra does only mean it well. She doesn't speak up before he finished, and closes her eyes in thought before she faces him again - it was true, he only said these things because he was concerned for her. "I'll be careful. I, well, thought this battle is important enough to justify the usage, and look around - there's currently none who could scold me, any wild Pokemon around very likely don't care. You are...a member of our group since yeserday, so you deserve knowing about it... As long as you won't go shouting from rooftops about Rock Smash either we'll be on the safe side, no worries! Alright?" *encouraging shy smile displaying that things were okay all while searching for the Ball containing her Pokemon to replace Gothy*

The rugged wander isn't Insightful enough to discreen that Shiva is sympathetic to the ardor of her Pokémon, but he CAN tell that she's bothered by them Fainting, causing him to frown in concern yet again.

In contrast, Terra is mostly non-plussed about RS knocking his bombshell Bug back, as he is more concerned/interested in the HM Move being used itself in this battle. Because of that, he was completely taken off guard when the fair lady began to profusely apologize to him for using the Move, causing him to look both perplexed and a little bit bashful as he looked away from her slightly and rubbed the back of his head.

".....No need to be sorry, Shiva. In battles, you do what you can to win them, so using Rock Smash is okay. My Pokémon and I are.....impressed by it too, so we are happy you show it to us. *Pauses* ...Basteele is fine too. She's tough and Sturdy, and doesn't mind taking a beating, so don't worry about it.

Delphox's spectacular debut and the passionate Loyalty he display for his master caused Terra's eyes to widen slightly, before giving the fire fox a smile and respectful nod of his head. Seeing such a display cinches if for the herculean man: Shiva is truly a loving and dedicated Trainer toward her Pokémon, if she could inspire such strong feelings and intense dedication....

Shiranui can immediately tell that his new opponent is a Psychic type of some sort, and starts getting pumped up yet again for this battle! Now he was fighting against TWO types he was at a disadvantage at, so this would be an EXCELLENT challenge for him, oh yeah! Basteele, however....well, she was EXTREMELY displeased when their arrival, as she absolutely DESPISED Fire types with all her heart and SOUL. She glared at them with such force that you'd think she was using the Move, and readied herself to destroy her opponent. They. Will. Be. Snuffed. OUT!
