[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery

Scizor wouldn't say no to learning Swords Dance, but his policy on this is the loot goes to whoever found it, so it's up to Randolph and Karen to decide how to split it.

Journal Contents

The journal is owned by a man by the name of Jonathan Brightflame, and it seems like he's a very rich man with what can only be described as an obsession for Fire types.

Early entries in the journal mention numerous breeding projects for high pedigree shiny fire type pokemon, as well as the purchase of a highly valuable historical artifact associated with the power of fire.  Jonathan kept it on his person as a good luck charm.

Afterwards, it details a trip to Creshire, and his meeting with the relatively recently hired, young gym leader of Tumbleweed Town and their Delta Houndoom and Hippopotas.  However, the Gym Leader refused to provide Jonathan with eggs for the two Deltas, and this sparked a further obsession to attempt to breed his own Delta Fire types.

Later entries in the journal document the latter breeding projects, as well as their numerous failures at producing results.  He was debating whether he needed to make a return trip to Creshire to seek more professional help there despite the long distance.

The final entries in the journal mention that Jonathan was traveling to Snowpoint to meet with his specially hired international breeders and pick up some of his completed breeding projects, but he and his traveling companions got lost in Mt. Coronet on the way there.  They lost track of how long they were in the mountain for, and weren't quite sure how they ended up higher up on the mountain...

I'd say that's pretty concrete evidence of that person's existence, no?

Karen's trying to look over Randolph's shoulder to read the journal as well.

For the time being, the Flame Plate is the same as a Charcoal mechanically.  However, Brigid looks at it and holds it almost reverently (well, as reverently as a turtle can manage, anyways.)

Just like with the other group, it's hard to pinpoint exactly where that singing is coming from because it's echoing far too much.

When Randolph tries to play the Azure Flute, nothing happens.  Not even sound comes out, as the flute just echoes hollowly...

Afterwards he would go quiet, looking deep in thought as he mulled over the newest (to him and the group) person abducted/caught up in Mt. Coronet's mystery, and eventually bites back a sigh as he closes the journal with a displeased sounding *Snap!* and put it away, before taking off the R.T.H. , looks at it, then at Karen again.

"....I stand by my statement we shouldn't worry too much about this Jonathan fellow, but....we should keep an eye out for him and his companions while we're traveling. The place and its Tauros shit supernatural mystery force is bad enough for us, but for someone completely Unaware and unprepared for it? *Shakes head* ....Don't envy their chances at all. Still, if we were able to find and rescue Scizros and Rui here, maybe we can do that same for them....provided they're still alive."

He looks over the the avalanche pile, then back at Karen again.

"You think Jonathan or his friends may have gotten stuck underneath it, or are trapped past it? Think we should get Espeon's help to see if that's the case.  *Rubs Beard* Maybe Diam's too, since she's a Ghost type that can use her Foresight and natural Ghost senses to detect strange things or....death. If one or both of them find something in or past it, I'll try harder to convince Excadrill to Dig a way through it for us. What do ya think of that plan, Karen?"

No further comments on Brigid's reaction or to the Flute's non-response, besides Ran's bemusement with the former and mystification with the later.

Note: Traveling to tiles directly above/below of the current one is rather difficult, given the tiles I have to work with are all drawn in an isometric style.  It's easier in this case since there's a path in the upper left corner of the tile, and almost all tiles have a path in the lower left corner.

I know. But I'm trying to fill the map non-randomly aka following a specific pattern/path. (^v^ ;)

Kogeki, Kee, and Lucas ascend one of the smaller peaks surrounding the main peak of Mt. Coronet to find a small grotto of trees with a single pond in the middle at the top.  Several large rocks are dotted around the area as well, and a waterfall on the northwestern end of the area turns into a small stream that eventually feeds into the grotto's pond.

That means, the space I marked with an x is the waterfall, or is it?
   
Now that Kee/Kogeki/Lucas have to run off in different direction, I'm gonna keep track of that too via different colors.



Despite (or rather: because) it's so unnaturally quiet at this grotto they now came across, Kee actually enjoys the scenery a lot - There's a beautiful waterfall nearby, lush trees, this place seems isolated enough to be undisturbed if resting here... It's close to being perfect! Lucas can have as much as a bad feeling as he wants, Kogeki can be as serious as he desires, in contrary to all that nervous tension and stress the so-far journey to Spear Pillar that weights the colorful musician down he feels tranquil and at peace with himself and the world for now.

Octavia however, close by him, looks around a tad bit nervously, seemingly finding this silence somewhat eerie.

Even this strange singing doesn't seem to bother him too much. He even starts to enjoy it in some way, as off-key and weird as it is - but he has seen weirder shit so far. The sudden appearance of some ABSOL and Octavia immediately hissing at them in fear brings Kee back to senses and to the current place, he stares into their icy-blue eyes as a feeling of a bad omen increases and intensifies...


...until it reaches its peak when the dark prophets run off and a freakin' AVALANCHE crashes down. Not wasting a second, Octavia runs off after the Absol that went direction southeast, and Kee looses no moment following both - he may not be scared of dying, but he STILL wouldn't want to be buried by snow to never be found again!

Espeon doesn't immediately sense anyone in the nearby area when he focuses on that.  If someone was here, they aren't here any more.

Karen voices her thoughts on the matter.  "Maybe Jonathan dropped his things when he was trying to escape from the avalanche?  If I had to guess which way he went, it was probably somewhere on the other side of this pile of snow.  I doubt he was running towards the wild pokemon we just fought..."

Horrah! The ironclad mammal's agreement gets a smile and nod from Ran, while he mentally sighs in relief. Oh thank Heatran they'll help, or otherwise he'd have to come up with some crazy idea to move forward!

Given the two paths avaliable, Ran would choose to go left on the current tile, as if the previous avalanches came from the north or east of it (this tile) Johnathan probably wouldn't be running towards it to get away, now would he? Bare any complications, that should be all until the next set of Encounters roll out!

Yes, that X would be around where the waterfall is.

Oh yeah, Octavia would have been out of her pokeball, wouldn't she?  Well, in that case, I can also say that after hearing that dismal, off-key song, she's starting to feel really strange...she starts to wobble on her feet a little, as if she might fall over.  She shakes her head and tries to shake off the weird feeling, and the adrenaline of having to run from that avalanche helps her stay focused too!

The tile that Kee and Octavia chase their Absol to...

...ends up being a sharp drop off of a cliff!  Kee and Octavia slide to a stop, barely managing to avoid careening off the edge in their haste, no Absol in sight!  They hurriedly look around, trying to find the Absol that ran in this direction...

...only to spot the white feline snickering on a lower cliff, a black aura surrounding them!  It looks like they were about to do something, but after realizing they've been spotted, the aura disappears and they run to the tile to the left!

Looks like this Absol is gonna give Kee quite the workout.

Kogeki insticts was sharp, and when the avalanche begin to fall, he lost no time and begin to run as fast as he could. Susano'o free himself from the Pokeball after feel the danger around his partner. Kogeki and his metalic fish nod head, and then they know what to do. Kogeki jump in Susano'o back, and the Fish Pokemon circle around him in water power, and then release Aqua Jet, going in full speed ahead, dodging all the stones, ice and destruction around them. Although not the most quick Pokemon of Kogeki, Susanoo power over water and metal, allied with his sharp survival insticts, make him the perfect partner of a ninja. 

He dont think that avalanche is Absol fault. After all, Absol have the ability to foresee the future, so he decided to trust those Absol in they trying to warn them about the danger. He follow the Absol who is going in the northeast path.

   

Kogeki's Absol dashes into a small wood, attempting to hide from its pursuer.

...and Kogeki completely loses track of them.  He has no idea where they are other than they're still in these woods somewhere.

Randolph and co. also find a sheer cliff!  Unlike Kee, however, they're not in any hurry, so there's no danger of them falling.

The group, however, does hear a cry for help come from the sudden drop.  "Hello?  Gerald?  Lucinda?  Is that you?"

*CRACK*

The voice calls out again, this time a little more panicked.  "*gasp*  I-is anyone there?!  Someone?  Anyone!  Help!"

Should the party look over the side, they see a man in a smart, expensive looking red suit dangling from a tree branch sticking out from the side of the cliff.  Judging from the look of the tree branch and the sound everyone just heard, that handhold might not be intact for much longer.
