[Meta Thread] Pokerole Mystery Dungeon: Primal Shadows

Alright, so between Spirit and Phantom we got roughly 1.5 votes for Emolga, and 1 alternative votes for Meloetta. Seeing as I don't want to deadlock things, I'm going to vote for the one Pokemon all our recommendations have in common - Emolga. I don't like missing out on Hydreigon power and utility or Virizion's all around goodness, but as we've all covered Emolga is just good by having Nuzzle and nice Electric type Moves alone, and their Fly movement means that at least Platina has someone to partner up with to explore routes through the MD inaccessible to the others.

So, I suppose that makes the flying squirel our final NPC companion, doesn't it @PhantomUnderYourDesk and @Spiritmon? If nobody has any objections, one of us can make a post ASAP about this, and then get ready to move on to finally exploring a dungeon in the first time in yonks!

No need to wait for a post of mine, but I do wish to get a chance to rearrange some items of mine before we'll go dungeon-crawling, if possible!

Feel free to do some prep if needed.  Paradise and Post Town certainly have the necessary facilities to do some prep before going adventuring.

Said preparation consists of checking out whether the local shop(s) to the east [source post here] have anything useful to buy and either take along or store to take into a Myster Dungeon later on, and adjust which items Kee's taking along. Bulbapedia's article of the Pokemon Paradise also notes something about a shop that sells berries and seeds, that's something Kee definitely wishes to visit before heading out in order to stock up on remedies.

Nope, no objections from me on taking Emolga along! Hydreigon is a definite and veeeery close second choice of mine for the sheer powerhouse they are and them being the literal Voice of Life, but I guess I simply like having Nuzzle for both guaranteed Status + slight damage on board to stop overly dexterous enemies from pestering us too much.

Kee's in-chara busy running after the Djinn's bottle to pick Hoopa up and packing him away, so it's for the better if either of you announces our choice of NPC companion to make it official.

That also leaves one final question before we prepare to head out into that Great Glacier: Who's going to lead the way through the dungeon? Prefarably not me, while I/Kee enjoy navigating and will have some free days off work next week, I wanted to invest some free time into creative stuff; there are several started and unprogressed drawings + colorings that I haven't touched for dayyyys.

Even if so, then that doesn't necessarily guarantee they'll use it when we want. On a side note we should ask Emolga to reveal their capabilities ahead of time in-game, so that we can request things from them without breaking character or being too meta about it. If they don't or do not do so in a satisfactory manner, though....well, we've put up with tougher deals before.

Bit of a late response as I was exhausted af yesterday from work, but yes I support Platina leading the way through that Great Glacier! She hasn't yet gotten the chance to lead, curious and hyped to see how she'll handle it.


If it's fine and okay, I'll flashforward a little now to Kee preparing himself before we'll go dungencrawling, as it may take a little longer/depends on responses and reveals from Dragonstrike and I don't want to stall things longer than necessary.

Welp, we only get a choice of what extraneous Move we want on Emolga, of which are Nuzzle, Light Screen, and Encore. Since we mainly choose Emolga because we wanted their Insta-Paralysis Move, I do believe it's a no brainer choosing Nuzzle as choice. Encore can be busted, but you need fine timing and absolute control over its use, which we don't have with a NPC/DMNPC Party member, and Light Screen....well, it's actually a pretty strong Move, but taking it means that Emolga is stuck with 3 Unique Attack Moves for combat, which is hardly the best for such a speedster as him. Evasion and Strike can fill in those gaps, but it's not optimal Damage Wize, you know? Kinda wish they had Motor Drive too, but thems the breaks.
