Mac OSX Catalina (10.15+) will be officially released in October and is dropping support for 32-bit applications. The current means of playing Pokemon Uranium via wine will no longer work if you update your OSX to this version. At least not until the wine development team figure out how to work around this - there's some discussion on it, but it's a lot of work and could take some time, if at all.
So what can you do?
Optionally, do not update to Catalina (or beyond Mojave) and continue to play via wine!
Alternatively, /u/57-1 has built / compiled an OSX native app bundle of Pokemon Uranium 1.2.4. This is not something that is not currently supported by the uranium team, it's something /u/57-1 is working on, so any questions specific to this version of the game should be directed appropriately.
Check the link in my signature for details around all of this! I'm happy to help either here, via discord or via reddit for anyone who needs assistance!
Since this is stickied, here's some more information.
If not updating and continuing to run wine or running the native app bundle don't sound appealing to you for whatever reason virtual machine is still an option. If this is the path you wish to take, I would recommend installing Windows XP Integral Edition onto a virtualbox VM, or alternatively set up Windows 10 Integral Edition as a dual boot via bootcamp. If either of these are something you want assistance with, hit me up here on the forums, or on Discord for a faster response!
I'm desperately looking for foreign pokemon so I can get faster shinies for people, if you have any foreign pokemon just reply to this thread on what ones you have and we can arrange a trade! I'm offering rare pokemon, nuclear types, high-IV pokemon, Neopunk, and Praseopunk. I already have Cubbug, Barewl, Birbie, Nupin, Owten, Paraudio, Frynai, and Baashaun. I check the forums around every other day. Good luck!
Bingo
p.s. if I change my computer language to French, can I make my own foreign pokemon?
Psi here! I came across Pokemon Uranium back when it was first released by the original devs, I just never had time to play it. I'm not so impressed with the official game progression since Sun and Moon, so coming back to this is a good alternative!
I'm a Software Engineer currently working as a full stack web developer, but come next year I'll be working with integrated and real-time systems development. Would be interesting to get involved with development here, but I'm not sure how I'd go about that.
I'm playing off a Mac and I'm happy to assist anyone who needs help with getting things up and running on Mac, feel free to hit me up or send people my way. I'm active on discord! Note I'm in Australia, so my timezone will probably vary greatly.
Looking forward to getting through this games main story.
I'm a newcomer to this community, but I have completed the game and I just want to ask one thing. Does anyone know why the post-game side stories haven't been implemented?
I finished the game in 100 hours 30 minutes (largely due to shiny hunting...) It was an epic experience, everything about the game was awesome (especially CURIE)! My friends Electruxo, Escartress, Coatlith, Theriamp, Nucleon, and Luxelong were with me the whole time. The most tedious part about it was my idea to get a shiny nuclear pokemon at every power plant, and to get a shiny Smore for a Seikamater.
As I have an analytical mindset, I pretty much predicted everything that was going to happen, CURIE-wise. I will be getting a shiny charm and (hopefully) becoming recognized as a breeder, or at least supplying shinies to interested parties. Thank you to everyone here for helping me out with my questions and problems!!!
Bingo
P.S. PhantomUnderYourDesk and CodySP, both of you are deserving of a shiny, as soon as I get my shiny charm I'll get one for each of you. Just specify what shiny pokemon you want and I'll do a little shiny hunting.
