  Nuclear Pokemon Breeding: nuclear offspring
Posted by: CooltrainerHerb - 10-14-2016, 05:38 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (20)

I believe I've seen this suggestion on the Uranium subreddit, but just for posterity's sake I'mma post it here:

Would the devs consider allowing corrupted mons to breed and produce corrupted offspring? It would add a very unique element to Uranium's meta and provide an excellent way to combat those screaming Nucleons. Thoughts?

Pokemon Uranium dead? A good think?
Posted by: Spiritmon - 10-13-2016, 08:38 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (23)

Well have some disturbing that comes to mind, and so say all I have to talk. The media world outside the internet think Pokemon Uranium is dead. Partly it's a bad thing because it's a lie, because Pokemon Uranium is a united and living community than ever. But this "lie" can keep alive the lifetime of Pokemon Uranium. Well, when Pokemon Uranium was released hear more than one million dowloads. Nintendo found it and soon asked to take the site links Pokemon Uranium and even then the game continued to receive updates. After that the forums Pokemon Uranium cease to function for more than a month, ''s supposed "because they were suffering from hacker attacks. After the devs send a statement saying they would no longer Pokemon Uranium updates, and did not explain the real reason right. I do not know about you but even after receiving a statement from Nintendo they do not fear they and continued to keep up the game, and soon after "hacker attack" they gave up. This for me is at least strange.

That's so much to vent some thoughts I have as making some theories about what happened. Nintendo should have discovered that the devs have continued to update the game and not let Uranium die, there they may have devised some sort of blow to the site and talking about the following: "Either you stop updating this game and he dies, or the situation will be ugly. " Very journey I know, and I may be terribly wrong, but you can imagine the situation. Or other situation was that Nintendo found a way to debunk the site, and the devs do not know how to speak and say invented a excuse saying there was hacking attacks (hired by Nintendo) would end with the game and the devs with no option They gave up Pokemon Uranium. And to prove my point, here is a piece of news that Lord Windons put in the post:

"Nintendo However, admitted that" Pokemon Uranium "was a hit. It is said que the game was one of the Reasons Why" Pokemon Go "lost 15 million users.

At the end of its success, "Pokemon Uranium" may just be a fan-made game, but it still received a lot of good reviews in the gaming community. "

Nintendo admitted that Pokemon Uranium was a success and even blamed Pokemon Uranium by falling Pokemon Go players. Now returning to the purpose of this post. The news of the supposed "death" of Pokemon Uranium is partly a good thing because many people (including Nintendo) will believe that the game is dead, no one to carry on the legacy of Twitch and JV, so Nintendo can leave the game in peace, and it can grow in a healthy and safe ground. At least for a while. What do you think of this theory / opinion? Say there in the comments.

Collaboration between Pokemon Uranium and Tuxemon
Posted by: MirceaKitsune - 10-13-2016, 05:21 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (5)

I recently made a thread on the Tuxemon forums about this, so I thought to make one here as well:

https://forum.tuxemon.org/thread.php?id=176

In a nutshell: I've been following a little project called Tuxemon for some time. It's an early FOSS monster fighting game similar to Pokemon, written in Python and using fully original content. After the news of Pokemon Uranium being taken down, the thought of a collaboration between the two projects soon sprung to mind: Both Tuxemon and Pokemon Uranium are games in the same genre and style, as well as using original characters and content. It does raise the question of whether using Tuxemon as a basis could make sense for a future version of Uranium.

I mostly see two benefits: First is that this would help in moving away from the Pokemon brand, which will remain problematic for obvious legal reasons. Second is that Tuxemon is open-source, and I for one find that much better than the proprietary RPG Maker. The downside is that the code and mechanics would have to be rewritten, and ultimately contributed to the Tuxemon engine... this would take some extra amount of work. Although I imagine it might not happen, I still found the idea worth putting up.

  Controllable Nuclear Pokémon
Posted by: CrazyDragon - 10-13-2016, 05:07 PM - Forum: General Chat - Replies (18)

So obviously all corrupted normal Pokémon are uncontrollable, but are all the naturally nuclear ones controllable, or are only some of them like that? For example, I know Nucleon is fine, but what about Hazma and Xenomite?

Legal safety of the new project
Posted by: MirceaKitsune - 10-13-2016, 05:06 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (14)

So I discovered this project from an article on how Nintendo is assaulting fangames around the internet. Needless to say that's nothing new... though it does upset as well as amaze me never the less. Considering this has already happened to Pokemon Uranium, and it no doubt will happen again, I imagine this is one of the things that needs to be most thoroughly thought of: A project that's constantly at risk of legal harassment is not bound to have a long and happy life. For now, I mostly had two questions in this regard:

First of all: Are the developers prepared to defend themselves once Nintendo sends its next Cease & Desist order? In 99% of cases, when a fan game receives any kind of legal threat from a company, it's immediately nuked out of existence by the developers. Although this understandably happens because everyone will say "some silly game is not worth the risk of finding myself in a lawsuit", I really think it's time we see someone who fights back! Hosting the website in a country where Nintendo doesn't have legal influence is a start... also I think fair use is seriously not brought up enough when it comes to fan games!

And my second question was: I know that Pokemon Uranium uses original characters and art. This means that any objection is exclusively over the name Pokemon... and maybe similarities to a few specific mechanics if Nintendo is crazy enough to go there. Why still go with the name Pokemon?! Sure: It makes sense to stay connected to the series that inspired it, as well as to gain more popularity. But if the very word "Pokemon" is bound to bring in legal trouble, is it really worth sticking to it and not going fully original?

[Discussion] Thoughts on the Competitive Meta?
Posted by: ScarletZephyr - 10-13-2016, 04:50 PM - Forum: Competitive Discussion - Replies (11)

I'm interested in hearing the community's thoughts on Uranium's competitive meta. Here's some topic starters to start things off.

In your opinion . . .

  • Which Pokemon will be banned to Ubers?
  • What are some key powerhouses in OU?
  • Who are the Dedicated Leads to beat?
  • Which Pokemon will be banned from Little Cup?
  • Should we adopt Smogon's rules / clauses?
  • Thoughts on Tandor's Legendaries in competitive battling?
  • With Syrentide-M and Metalynx-M in OU, who are the Wallbreakers to watch out for?

Greetings. Not sure what I have to say about me right now... other than that I'm a new user. I heard about this project a few days ago, from an article about Nintendo going crazy and taking more fangames down. Since I haven't even played the game yet, there isn't much advice I can give on any specifics. For now I did join both because I'm a fan of Pokemon (fan) games, and also because I wish to support the project against Nintendo's rage. I'm curious to see how this will all go.
