Competitive Guide: Nucleon
Today, we are going to cover everyone’s favorite Nuclear type pokemon: Nucleon! Hope you all enjoy it~
Nucleon
![[Image: latest?cb=20140928235828]](http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/pokemon-uranium/images/3/31/119_Nucleon.png/revision/latest?cb=20140928235828)
Base Stats (From the Pokémon Uranium Wiki)
HP: 75 S.ATK: 115
ATK: 55 S.DEF: 115
DEF: 85 SPD: 90
If Slyveon can be equated to a cleric, then Nucleon is definitely a black mage. The stat spread of Nucleon show that it not only has the potential to be a powerful special sweep, but also being a pretty good Special Wall. This is deceiving, though, for chiefly one reason: Nucleon is, well, a Nuclear type. As such, it enjoys the ‘privilage’ of being weak to every type in the game, bar Poison and other Nuclear types. What this means is that if you try to wall with this ‘mon, expect its half-life to be pretty short. Its HP doesn’t help matter either in that regard as well. So what we are left with is a glass cannon, much like Harptera or Barand. What makes this pokemon go from niche to top-tier sweeper is its ability: Atomizate.
Atomizate is a truly awesome ability. Any normal type move you have on hand? Suddenly become the most powerful STAB in the game for the green demon! The only trouble it runs into with this ability is the distinct lack of Special Normal type moves in its pool. Beside Hyper Voice, it only has Swift and Hyper Beam in its Normal arsenal, and the rest are Physical. Given its lackluster ATK stat, it limits the potential of what it can do with its ability. Which might be good, since it would become a complete monster otherwise. Still, it has all the tools it needs to be a devastating threat when put to good use.
MOVESETS
Intense Radiation Therapy (S.ATK)
Hyper Voice
Quick Attack/Hidden Power(Fire/Ground)
Protect/Shadow Ball
Trick/Wish/Half-Life
Item: Choice Scarf/Choice Glasses/Focus Sash/Life Orb
Nature: Hasty or Mild
EV’s: 252 S.ATK, 252 SPD, 4 ATK
The defacto set you’ll see on any Nucleon, or some variant of it. Hyper Voice is its most power attack, and will melt just about anything that is not Steel (Maybe even them!) Quick attack is there to act as a finisher, if you both somehow survive each other’s attacks, and as its only priority move. Alternatively, you can run Hidden Power Fire to reduce Steel types to slag if they try to switch in, or Hidden Power Ground to take down Tracton. Protect is more to scout out what moves the enemy mon has, but can work in conjuction with Wish to heal yourself up in a pinch. Shadow Ball can be used instead, if you don't want to breed for either HP's and want a back up move. Speaking of that, Wish can be used as a way to help support you team, though it will probably cost its life in the process. Trick, on the other hand, can cripple or seriously hinder enemies, while Half -Life can be used against bulky walls or steel types to soften them up. Depending on your preference, the item and nature you run is up to you, but for items I suggest either the Scarf or Sash. The Scarf will keep you ahead of the game, while the Sash can keep you in the game when otherwise, so both are pretty useful items to consider.
IT’S GOING CRITICAL! (Suicide Set)
Hyper Beam
Explosion
Quick Attack/Hyper Voice
Wish/Protect
Items: Focus Sash
Nature: Hasty
EV’s : 252 SPD, 100 ATK, 156 S.ATK
Not an orthodox or efficient way to use Nucleon’s talents, but because of this, almost no one will expect this set. The idea is to use Nucleon as either a Suicide Lead or Revenge Killer, and rack up at least 1-2 KO’s with this mon. Hyper Beam is so perfectly suited for this purpose, as even without full investment in S.ATK EV’s, it will still one shot just about anything! Explosion is to use at your discretion, as it can be used either to take down/soften up special walls, or to use when you are hanging on a thread. Quick attack is there for priority sake, but Hyper Voice can be used in place. Protect and Wish are self-explanatory. Choice Scarf could be used in place of the Sash, but after using a H.B you’re a sitting duck, so keep that in mind. Not a great set to run, but it will sure rustle some jimmies if nothing else!
OTHER MOVES/ITEMS
Expert Belt: If you don’t want to deal with either Life Orb or a Choice Item, this can still be useful. Makes it useless for Trick sets, though.
Façade: If you can predict it, switching into a status move and using this will hurt. It is more likely you will suffer more than them, so...
Endeavor: Might have a place on the suicide set, but why use that when you could use Explosion or another Hyper Beam?
Return: An alternative to Quick Attack, if the low power is not to your liking.
Nasty Plot, Double Team, Calm Mind, or Swagger: If you can predict a switch, then you can set up, then you can turn the team into slag! Since you are fragile as glass, however, these moves will be useless if you shatter before you make the sale, so to speak.
Partners:
Anything that can either slow down or take down speedier targets is always a good thing for Nucleon. Yatagaryu and Tracton love having Nucleon for clearing outing Earthquake users and Walls in general, while it appreciates them killing things like Mega Inflagetahs and Harptera. Harptera and M. Inflagetahs also make for a great trio in an attack team, as them cover each other from their respective threats. Status users like Dramsama and Dunsereph are also good partners, as well as Laissure for its hazards.
Counters to Nucleon
As a Nuclear type, any and everything but poison and other nuclear types are super effective against it. With its low HP and DEF stats, anything can kill it quick if they are quicker than it. Revenge killing is probably the safest method of dealing with it. Both Inflagetahs will OHKO it when they come out on the field, and Yat. Itself will slay it quickly, even with its high S.Def. If it doesn’t, though, it will have to suffer a quadruple effect Hyper-Voice to the face! Remember not to switch in with them, though, as Nucleon will just clear them out ASAP. Tracton might be the best counter to it, though. Nucleon moves only do neutral damage to it, and it will out speed it eventually if it is left on the field too long. All it takes, then, is it to OHKO it and the rest of your team.
Anything that can paralyze it is also a threat, as its speed is the only thing keeping it alive. Special Walls are tricky to deal with, as while its possible for you to overpower them, they could just as easily turn the tables on you instead. Mega Syrentide or a Brainoar, while Duel types, have more than enough S.DEF to tank at least a hit if trained right, and retaliate in kind. Area hazards are horrid as well, since Stealth Rock and Spikes will practically kill before it can even begin to fight. Finally, Torment would shut down Choice sets, forcing them to switch out to survive.
Final Analysis
Nucleon is a Top-Tier threat that cannot be taken lightly. Boasting great speed, attack, and the ability Atomizate, it can sweep teams under the rug if they can’t muster a counter. That said, anything that can counter it will do so with extreme prejudice. Faster pokemon like Inflagetah or Mega Archilles will make irradiated toast out of the eevelution, and anything that can wall it longer than a turn will have a prime opportunity OHKO it. Status, Torment, and area hazards undermine Nucleon role greatly as well. It is also important to remember than beside Hyper Beam and Hyper Voice, you have no STAB to take advantage of its unique abilities, making it predictable as heck. It is still a threat, no matter how much slice it, as it will end you team if steps are not taken. As it can be said anywhere in competitive, it is all about using you pokemon wisely, and knowing just when to act.
Next Time: Beliaddon. What can this demon from hell do?

Arceus dangit that bird! every time i encounter one it'll murder poor Cubbug and then flash Raptorch to the point he needs therapy!
And i can't knock it out in two hits yet!
I feel safer playing dead space and resident evil than running around Tandor's Birbie-infested routes!
in other news, can Cubbug be any cuter?

Some days ago I downloaded the Mystery gifts, but haven´t taken them so far ingame.
Today I wanted to get them and start breeding, but there is no NPC in the PC having the Gifts (Looked in Legen Town and Rochfale Town).
Under Mystery Gift in the Menu it says there are no new gifts.
Do I have to go to a certain PC? Would be sad if I can´t get Destiny knot anymore and the Shiny Jerbolta.

Automation with JoyToKey: A Basic Guide |

I mentioned to some people the other day that I took some of the tedium of breeding and EV training by automating the process (at least to an extent), and they asked if I could show them how to do it themselves. So, here it is. TwistedLogic's brief guide to relieving headaches and boredom.
Part I: Requirements
In order to do either of these, you will need the following: - A copy of Pokemon Uranium
- A gamepad (any will do)
- JoyToKey, which you can download [here]
- A willingness to give up use of your computer for set periods of time
These are also recommended:- A timer
- A four function calculator
- Something to do while you wait
- Having the Ninja Reunion sidequest completed
Part II: Build a Bot Workshop
Once you have J2K installed, open it up and you will see this window:
![[Image: lK8t3d4.png]](http://i.imgur.com/lK8t3d4.png)
Now we want to set up new profile, a set of gamepad to keyboard maps, specifically for our purpose, so let's hit File > New. You should get a pop-up window that looks like this:
![[Image: F9bpAof.png]](http://i.imgur.com/F9bpAof.png)
Congratulations! Now you have a shiny new profile! Let's now choose the input we want to be our "auto-EV train" button. If you want to know which name in the table corresponds to which button on your gamepad, press the button and the corresponding name in the table will be highlighted yellow. For the purposes of this example, I will be using "Button 1", but it can be any input that your gamepad is capable of producing.
![[Image: 510undj.png]](http://i.imgur.com/510undj.png)
Once you've chosen your button, double click the name, and the button assignment window will pop up. Select the first field under "Keyboard emulation: Basic" and press your activate button (default C). Now when you press your chosen button on the gamepad, your computer will read it as you pressing the C key on your keyboard, but now we need to automate it.
If you look at the bottom of the window, you'll see a section labelled "Auto Repeat and Toggle". Click the "Auto Repeat" and "Toggle between ON and OFF" check boxes. Then place a number in the field labelled "times per second", I find that 5 works well for me and will be basing coming calculations on that rate.
![[Image: UaTkAJW.png]](http://i.imgur.com/UaTkAJW.png)
Click OK, and your EV training bot is complete, woooooo!
![[Image: EbOKDKR.png]](http://i.imgur.com/EbOKDKR.png)
So now that you have it, how do you use it? Well, you'll be glad to know that it's super easy! Go to Tsukinami Village and stand in front of the Ninja Master that corresponds to the stat you want to EV train and be sure to have the Pokemon you want to train at the front of your party. When you're ready, activate your bot by pressing the the assigned button, sit back, and let the game do the rest.
"But Twisty," you ask, "now that I've unleashed my artificial monstrosity upon the Tandor Region all it does is mindlessly pound at punching bags for all eternity. How do I stop this madness?"
Well, you're certainly the panicky one, aren't you? Regardless, turning killing the beast is as easy as awakening it in the first place. Simply press the button again!
Part III: Doing the Math
Okay, now that you have your bot ready to use, you may wonder, "How long should I run it if I want x EV's in a given stat?"
Great question, Billy! And I just happen to know the answer*.
*Provided you used the settings I provided and your machine runs the game at about the same framerate as mine.
If everything is running as it does on my computer (be sure to test to be sure), your Pokemon will go from 0 to 252 EV's in about 7 minutes, or roughly 3 EV's every 5 seconds, or an average of 8 EV's every punching session. Thus, if you want x EV's in a stat, you simply multiply that number by 5/3 and you have the number of seconds your Pokemon should train. If you want it in minutes and seconds, divide the result by 60, subtract the number before the decimal point (that will be your minutes), then multiply by 60 again to get the number of seconds.
As a quick example, let's say you have a Gargryph and want to train its HP EV's to 140:
140 EV's * 5 s / 3 EV's = 233.33333 s
Truncating that down to something usable, we have 233 s. If you have the right timer, you could stop there, but let's go a step further:
233 s * 1 min / 60 s = 3.88 min
So we'll keep note of the 3 min, and see how many seconds to add to that:
0.88 min * 60 s / 1 min = 52.8 s
Not that it matters much, but we can go ahead and round that up to partially make up for the fractions of a second we truncated earlier. Thus, if you want to give your Gargryph 140 EV's in HP, stand in front of Ninja Master Tarou, set your timer to 3:53, activate your bot and timer, and enjoy the fireworks!
I hope this guide has been helpful to you guys, at some point in the near future I'll also post a slightly more advanced guide to automating a walk cycle for hatching eggs. See you then!

Antarki
![[Image: latest?cb=20160816053917]](http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/pokemon-uranium/images/9/9a/144.png/revision/latest?cb=20160816053917)
Typing: Ghost/Fire
Ability: Illuminate/Prankster
Bases:
HP - 85
Attack - 45
Defense - 70
Sp. Atk - 125
Sp. Def - 90
Speed - 105
Overview
Antarki is one of the better Ghosts in Uranium. Blessed with 125 Base Sp. Atk and a dual typing of Fire, this thing's STAB Fire Blast can punch holes through unprepared teams. A base speed of 105 puts it above most unboosted mons, allowing it to outspeed and knock out it's opposition with ease. However, Antarki's strength does not lie in it's power, but rather it's versatility and utility. Antarki has a myriad of methods to befuddle it's opponents between Toxic, Taunt, Pain Split, and (when it is released) Will-o-Wisp. These aspects combined with it's hidden ability, Prankster, allow Antarki to lock opposing teams down with it's utility. That being said, Antarki is not without it's weaknesses. A weakness to stealth rock is especially crippling since not only is Antarki going to be switching in a lot, but hazard removal is practically nonexistent in Unranium at the moment. It is crippled further by a middling movepool and a lack of Trick, which reduces the potency of Choice sets. Understanding Antarki's weaknesses is important to using it correctly. While it can be very powerful, it is not a mon that can be freely placed onto any team, specific team building is required to properly incorporate Antarki onto a team.
Substitute
Antarki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk / 4 Sp.Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Taunt/Toxic/Will-o-Wisp/Pain Split
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball/Focus Blast
Based on the amount of options available for Antarki's second move slot, it should become immediately apparent just how versatile this mon is. Substitute is the bread-and-butter of this set. Antarki can force switches thanks to it's typing, which allows for free opportunities to set up substitute. From there, Antarki can do whatever the situation calls for. It can cripple it's opponent with a status, lock them down with Taunt, whittle tanks down with Pain Split, or use a damaging attack. Pain Split is probably the best option for this set, as it gives Antarki a decent amount of longevity and forces your opponent to play proactively. Toxic is a more offensive option than Pain Split, it puts them on a stricter clock than Pain Split, but at the cost of making Antarki's presence less permanent. Taunt allows Antarki to function as an anti-lead of sorts, and Will-o-wisp allows Antarki to check physical sweepers. Shadow Ball is a more consistent option, but Focus Blast checks mons like Beliaddon. What moves Antarki uses should be determined by what your team needs the most.
Antarki can opt to replace Shadow Ball or Focus Blast with a second status move. In particular using both Taunt and Pain Split allow Antarki to function as an exceptional anti-lead, shutting down those pesky Laissure before they have a chance to scatter Spikes everywhere. Antarki can also run Life orb instead of Leftovers if it wants to, although this is very risky and should only be done if it is running Pain Split and you have a method of clearing hazards on your team (so most likely Defog Raffiti).
Calm Mind
Antarki @ Leftovers/Lum Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk / 4 Sp.Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball/Focus Blast
With the inclusion of Prankster and Recover into Antarki's kit, a Calm Mind set has become increasingly viable. Base 85 HP and 90 Sp. Def are solid enough defenses, but unfortunately, Antarki's five weaknesses (six when counting Nuclear) make the rather nonoptimal. However, this set can still work nonetheless. Force out a switch and start setting up Calm Mind, then attempt to sweep with Fire Blast. Use Recover when you get low from chip damage. What you choose for you last move depends on your team's needs. Focus Blast is usually the superior option for dealing with threats like Beliaddon, but Shadow Ball is not a bad option either, given the rise of Dramsama-M. One can also opt for a Crocune-type set, using Calm Mind, Rest, Sleep Talk and Fire Blast.
Choice
Antarki @ Choice Specs/Choice Scarf
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk / 4 Sp.Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Energy Ball
As mentioned earlier, a lack of Trick limits the usefulness of this set. However, Choiced Antarki does have it's uses. Scarfed Antarki can outspeed Scarfed Nucleon and knock it out more reliably than the substitute set can. Specs Antarki can be uses for a bit of extra stopping power. However, Choiced Antarki's niche does not extend much farther than surprising their opponent and preventing them from answering before one of their mons are knocked out.
Team Options
Antarki works well with bulky mons like Metalynx and Syrentide. Metalynx is a particularly good partner for Antarki, since Antarki is immune to Fighting and resists Fire, which covers both of Metalynx's weaknesses. Meanwhile, Metalynx can check Yatagaryu, one of Antarki's counters, and other top threats in the Uranium metagame. Until Antarki gets Will-o-wisp, however, this core should be wary of Inflagetah, who can sweep through both members of this core unless Metalynx is in its Mega form.
Antarki also works well with pivots who are good at forcing switches. Beliaddon, M-Arbok, Chimaconda, and Laissure all come to mind, as their abilities, typing and offensive prowess are all great at forcing switches. Laissure in particular works especially well with Antarki, as it can scatter Spikes and Rocks on your opponents field. Each switch your opponent makes will hurt, and Antarki is great at forcing switches.
Counters
Anything that can outspeed and overpower Antarki can counter it. For now, this extends to both physical and special attackers, but will be limited to special attackers when Will-o-wisp is released. Yatagaryu is a good counter to Antarki for this reason. It resists Antarki's Fire Blast, can deal damage to Antarki between subs with it's ability, and it's Thunder can one shot it.
